1. A photo I took when I saw Cheap Trick in Glasgow a couple of years ago
2. My mum got me a handmade strat shaped wine bottle holder and a bass fridge magnet. My wife got me a Gallien Krueger t-shirt and new wrist bands. And completely unbass related but my mum also got me a bottle of Glenrothes single malt. I normally go for the Balvenie but I tried this during the summer and its really nice.
3. I thought I had a rattly grill on an aluminium coned Behringer 4x10" cab I had once. Drove me mad - I had loads of beer mats jammed between the grill and the side of the cab but it kept on doing it. Several gigs later it started distorting towards the end of the night and when I looked at it, all 4 drivers had shattered and there were bits of aluminium all over the place. Complained to Behringer, they kindly sent me a brand new one FOC and it was straight on Ebay
4. Here it is
5. There used to be a US seller on Ebay that would let you choose what colours you wanted of DR ones - I got 6 different ones for this bass
6. I bought a Brooklyn Gear neoprene strap from Stringbusters about 9 years ago and its done 100s of gigs. Very comfortable and hopefully will last a lot longer -you can get them here for £22
7. I prefer the neck higher and the body lower so have the body sitting on the stomach and the bass at a 45 degree angle. I've done this for so long that I couldn't entertain playing a bass that had even the slightest neck dive
8. I've had a few Bass Collections and I found that Elites were the best sounding strings for me. You didn't say whether it was a 4 or 5 but on the 5s I had I used the Nathan East set which were 47s Having said that Optima golds sounded really good on the fretless
9. Normally 45,65,85,105 but I've recently started using D'addario Chromes 40s and they feel really nice tension. Alternatively, Roto 50s flats tuned down a semitone sound amazing. Really heavy duty bass tones and feel nice tension but way too much tension when tuned to pitch
10.
It's. shame flats are synonymous with the word 'thud'. They do so much more.
Totally agree. My bass sound is anything but 'thud'. I have a very aggressive, trebly tone. I just couldn't go back to rounds now. they have nothing to offer me that I can't get with my flats. I sometimes get players coming up to me at the end of a gig to complement me on my tone and do a double take when they realise that I use flats. I've used Roto flats for a few years which are great on the Ibanez but have just begun using D'Addario Chromes now and they work so well on my precision. The 40 gauge ones are perfect tension for me. Truckstop - have you tried Roto flats on your Blazer? I got a really good sound with them when I had mine
11. Both cabs are the same size. I used the 210 combo with a 115mbe underneath it and it sounded very good.there was some serious trouser flapping going on. So yes, to me, the 210 and 115 sounded very good together. Plenty of grunt
12. I have the 1001RB II and two Ashdown ABM410s but only ever need one. Absolutely love the sound. Very dirty when I dig in and cuts through like an extremely cutty thingy. You can pick them up for less than £200 second hand and I believe you could run 4 of these if you happen to playing the O2
13. When I was 14 I got to see my bass hero at the time who was playing with Eric Clapton at the time - it was Nathan East. It was my first ever concert and it was at the SECC in Glasgow and I couldn't hear a single thing he played. I was so disappointed
14. I'm sure that someone on here got a sleeve made for theirs but I can't remember how it was finished
15.
Pink Floyd, more than any other for me I think using Fenders of course
Roger used a Rickenbacker RM1999 in the early days and Dave used a Les Paul in the late 70s and recorded one of, if not their most famous tune, Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 But yeah, its that sunburst precision from Live at Pompeii and the Strat with the Lace Sensors pickups from Delicate Sound Of Thunder that come to mind first
16.
If you want to know the band ,,,pm's welcome ps the clue is in my avatar
Since no one else is having a bash I'll take a guess at: TheYoung Ones Bacon Sandwich Bambi goes crazy ape bonkers with his drill and sex Scumbag College and so on. I've watched that episode many times
17. I don't fancy trying to win this year's Darwin award so the amp was always going to be unplugged and not been used for several days before opening it up. I vaguely remember reading something about discharging the caps or some such thingies before opening up. As I said, many time bass modder/repairer, first time amp repair. Want to make sure I don't end up as a charcoal briquette
18. My Gallien Krueger 1001RB II has developed a scratchy input jack so I'm going to replace it. The taking apart and soldering work does not bother me but I've never worked on an amp before -is there anything I should know before opening it up so I don't get electrocuted or something?
19. That would be Bob Laidlaw? He made some fantastic stuff and did a fantastic defret of a bass of mine many moons ago
20. Flats are much the same as rounds when it comes to choosing them so saying that Brand X is what you want is a bit like saying that you should buy a Honda Civic cos that's what I drive. I tried most brands before giving up only to have one last try years later with Roto flats and now I don't use anything else. Trying some second hand sets from the forum is a good idea as they are pretty expensive but cheaper in the long run (mine are 3 years old and still good as new) I know exactly what you mean about the chromes - I used this very set on a Rickenbacker and by the end of the set I felt like I had arthritis - not really worth damaging your hand for a set of strings so they were off before the next gig
21. The guy in the vid is hardly selling it to me with the crappy plectrum tone
22. Hi Folks, After a series of trades I've realised that the precision is the only one for me so I'm now offering this up for sale here. It features a swamp ash body with Ovangkol neck and wenge fretboard. eletronics are handled by 2 passive MEC Jazz pickups and it is fitted Warwick's branded chrome hardware. This bass has been gigged over the years and is definitely not a "case queen" just there to look pretty in its case. It shows signs of wear over the last 6 years of its life which I will now describe:

There is a scratch on the top of the headstock not visible when playing
There are some marks on the top of the fretboard
Due toWarwick's being natural wood and not painted, the area above mainly the neck pickup has picked up some dirt (probably off the strings themselves, you know dirt from strings onto fingers then rubbed onto the body during playing) Regular waxing has helped lift a lot of this out of the wood.
The bass has Warwick straplocks fitted but I do not have the strap end. These can be picked up for around £10-13
I always try to describe everything best I can as I don't want anyone to buy anything from me and not receive exactly what I have described to them and shown through the photos. This bass, despite being passive has an amazing growl to the sound, you can also fit as set of flats to give you a nice smooth tone. I always regularly maintain my basses so I have recently:

polished the frets
applied wax weekly to the body
used lemon oil to clean the fretboard
lightly sanded the back of the neck with 000 grade steel wool to remove dirt and keep it smooth for fast playing
cleaned the chrome hardware
fitted a new set of my favourite Fender 7250 nickel plated strings
set it up with medium low action
Setups are always very subjective - what I might class as low, you might find too low or too high so when you receive it, it might not be exactly how you like it but what will make it easier is that this bass comes with its User Kit. I've had a few Warwicks and this is the first one that still had its user kit intact. The kit includes the ID card that gives the specs, serial number (which is also on the back of the headstock) etc, truss rod tool, screwdriver and allen keys to adjust the bridge and the nut. It also includes some beeswax for maintaining the body. There's not a lot left but still enough for a few months. You can buy more and get yourself cloths for applying it from the Warwick shop. Anyway, enough prattling on from me. If you were to but this bass brand new it would cost you the best part of £1000 but it wouldn't be made in Germany, it would be made in Korea and it wouldn't come with a case it would come with a bag. I'm looking for £450 posted to mainland UK
23. I think I've got to the bottom of it now. From what I've heard, these are assembled in Mexico with US parts. The preamp is mounted onto the scratchplate with trailing wires coming off it, these are then attached to the pickups, ground and battery connections via solder connections and heatshrink tubing over the top. It would appear that I have a bad joint to the precision pickup as when I pressed the cable joint from the pickup the sound went back to the level it should be at. I don't have time to fix now but will repair it shortly
24. I don't get it - its just like a dual course 8 string bass but with Low B and high C. Much better than all those silly coffee table things that look like someone's attached far too many strings to an ironing board. John Paul Jones uses a bass similar to this
25. I always thought that Steve Harris' technique looks really awkward. He always looks like his playing playing looked really uncomfortable but still manages to play some fantastic stuff
