Fender jazz bass convertion to V sting
Delberthot replied to Soundcheck.effects's topic in Repairs and Technical
I put on basschat but nobody makes offer.... And I am thinking to make some mods.... I found this. http://www.3dentourage.com/425/425.htm
Jeff's site that you linked to uses mainly Ricks which are about 42.9mm width at the nut whereas yours is around 38mm so it would be very tight but doable but you'd need soapbar jazz pickups, something like a Kahler 7450 5 string bridge, a matching tuner, drill the hole for the tuner, buy a blank jazz nut and create the gaps for 5 strings. All in all, its a major pain unless its something you've done before. I did the Rick 4 to 5 conversion using a battered faker and fitted a single EMG35CS in the bridge position.Lots of fun but the bridge was a major pain to adjust properly and the nut took a while to get it spot on. I quickly got bored and bought a factory 5 string. -
While I was at practice on Monday my Precision ( the one in my sig ) suddenly went quiet mid song. I thought it was the battery needing changed but thought it was a tad premature as it had only been in the bass since July and I haven't used it a lot. Anyway, I changed it and took it to tonight's gig. Everything was fine during soundcheck and the first song but during the second it went quiet again, went back to normal then sounded like I had turned the bass right up on the bass EQ then went quiet again. I used another bass for the rest of the gig so I know its not the amp, I've changed the cables and it was a brand new battery I used. I've eliminated everything so it has to be the bass. The bass is only used for gigs and worked perfectly the last time I used it.I only took it to practice as I'm rehearsing with a new band and wanted to make sure it sounded right for this band. It lives in its case at all times and anyone who knows me knows that I am extremely careful with my gear. Has anyone experienced any problems with this particular preamp? Its under warranty so I'll be contacting the shop where I bought it from to see about getting it fixed but wanted to find out if anyone here knew of any problems so that I can get it resolved quickly

I'm a huge fan of the HZ ones. Had them in my Thunderbird and now in my Ibanez Doug Wimbish. Capable of some really throaty growl with Roto flats Brielfy had an 80s Fernandes Jazz fretless with active ones. Absolutely incredible sound, wish I hadn't sold it so hastily

My Fender Geddy / Mex Jazz Hybrid - Fender Geddy Lee body with MIM Fender neck. Currently surplus to requirements so its for sale but if I don't sell it as a whole I may sell the neck and get myself a fretless neck which would be a shame as it goes together very well with a nice, snug fitting neck pocket

Fender Geddy Lee/Mex Jazz Hybrid - TRADE PENDING
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Basses For Sale
The urge to get myself a fretless is proving too much so until I regain control I could be tempted by a trade for a decent fretless or a MIM Fender Precision Deluxe (especially a green FSR like I already have) with the trade value of my bass being £500 Alternatively, I have two other sweeteners if you're interested in a straight sale and pay the asking price: 1 ) A boxed and near mint condition Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive 2 ) A Hipshot D-tuner with a scratch on one side of the tuning thingy but fully working apart from that Yes folks - pay the asking price of £420 delivered within mainland UK and choose one of the above absolutely free. But that's not all: You'll also receive with the bass the original white scratchplate and what looks like a black pearl one as well You'd never guess I used to be a salesman -
The code on the Fender site is 025 so still Japan by the looks of it. I thinik 025 & 027 are the main two Fender Japan codes. The Marcus MIller and Geddy Lee models have already been changed to 014 for Mexico

The basses you love to hate thread.

I did have a Modulus Flea and it was bloody awful totally agree about Rickenbackers - overpriced, uncomfortable, several parts that badly need updating and a stinking attitude from the boss. -

What amp/ cabs would you buy with £1000-1500
Delberthot replied to pete bigmatch's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use a Meridian guitar combo that I got for £65 8 years ago so as not to upset the neighbours, plus it has aux in and headphone out. But then, I wouldn't dream of spending that much on something just for practice -
I don't know them but I'm really happy with my new Ashdown Mag 410T
I love Ashdown 4x10"s - both MAG and ABM models

This was previously my amp and I used it with my active precision into the passive input and rarely had it above 4 on the volume through a single Ashdown ABM410. This was used with or without a PA in small and large venues I changed the valve as I found the original one a bit harsh. You could try putting the original one back in but I never noticed any difference in volume between them, or even just take the top off to make sure that the valve isn't loose. Have you tried changing the battery in the bass? a dying battery is often the source of distortion

Unfortunately I have to leave bad feedback here . I traded a Gallien amp for a Jazz bass. When it arrived I took it out and looked at it and it seemed pretty much as described. Then something changed which meant that I needed something slightly different so I listed it for sale on here. The bass was described as having had a fret dress and being set up prior to me receiving it so I had no reason to doubt this at the time. When I went to check it to make sure everything was OK I discovered an annoying fret buzz located only on the 5th fret on the D string. I asked on here what it could be and was told what I thought all along - that it was a slightly raised section of fret. I asked Jake if he had noticed anything before and was told that everything was fine prior to sending it to me. I replied again, asking if he could be honest with me as I wanted to make sure that this had definitely had the fret dress that he claimed to have had done and had been set up before sending it to me. I was accused of 'manufacturing' a fault with the bass just because I had decided to sell it so soon after receiving it and that I was looking for some kind of refund when in reality all I wanted was to isolate the problem so that I could fix it. I was accused of being fussy about set up but in reality I set up every bass that I buy but this is the first time I have had to level the frets after being told that they had already been done The bass did look as described but the frets had not been dressed or levelled at all and the whole bass looked as if it had just been assembled that morning and then posted to me as the bridge saddles had clearly not been adjusted for intonation and the strings were so close to the fretboard to make the bass unplayable when I received it and I was the one accused of being 'fussy' Jake does have good feedback on here but I would suggest that if you ever buy a bass from him, make sure you try it first. Its not nice being accused of creating imaginary faults and being fussy when there was clearly something wrong with the bass.

Sold my Boss EQ pedal to Ian - nice, easy transaction. Would definitely buy from / sell to again

lefrash bought my Hartke Bass attack pedal. Nice easy transaction, just the way it should be.

I couldn't see a feedback thread so I'll start a new one. MoJo bought my Hartke LH500. Nice straightforward transaction and good communication so we both knew what was happening. I would definitely deal with him again
