I feel educated already and only on the forum a day or so Thanks Gents..... Although I do feel a fender would be a good buy I am not 100% keen on the look of them... Has anyone got any comments about the Cort or yam. jynxter

Hi All I have only been playing since Jan this year on a basic starter kit, I have upgraded my amp ( hartke 60w ) and am now looking to upgrade my bass. Just to put some perspective on this question I am never expecting to be evan a very good player; hoping at best to be average. i will be playing rock / metal kind of stuff eventually.. I have been looking and liked the feel of a Cort C4 ( i think that was the model ) and a Yamaha 270, could you give me some advice on these basses and some possible advice on other options. Just to add i will have a budget of around £300. Thanks Jynxter

Hi all just thought i would say hi, n give a little intro. After reading some of the intro's it has suddenly dawned on me that i know even less if not nothing about playing a bass. The reason for picking one up and starting to learn is; a mate thought it would be a great idea to play some tunes (metal /rock ) at his 40th b/day bash, which is now booked for Oct 2010. So i decided becuase I have always wanted to learn to play the Bass ( but never did ) this would be the perfect time to start (44yrs young). So I have been getting to grips with the bass since Dec this year on a basic set up, have had some lessons, (need some more) and Jammin. I am looking forward to using this forum to pick your brains on as many things bass related as I can, so please dont mock the questions .....as I truly know nothing !
