  1. I’d just use it as it is, looks super cool.
  2. That’s who the character was named after, yes! for info https://hitchhikers.fandom.com/wiki/Disaster_Area
  3. Thanks. Looks like I’ve bought a CX210 for a good price, picking it up tomorrow. Not too heavy either to say they aren’t neo
  4. Looking at a Cx210 available locally, one of the current ones. I think I’m a serial procrastinator and I just need to buy it. I have a GK head to go with it and I like my 112 combo so what’s the worst that could happen??
  5. Thinking of getting one to go with my 400rb but almost no one has them. Any experiences of any of them??
  6. I spoke to a friend of mine who owns a backline business (and has a 2001rb and matching 4x10 to hire if you ever need to destroy a room with bass) about cases. All his stuff has custom solid flight cases which he needs to protect his gear from any eventuality. He said if the amp has a fan which sucks air into the case you don’t need to be too worried about getting a case to fit exactly (eg a 2u case for these 400rbs) but if it’s blowing out then if the wall of the flight case is right up to the amp case then it might overheat as it’s blowing to a brick wall basically. He said to play safe with either a 3u case or an ABS case like an SKB is ideal as there is normally a lot more space around the amp to blow out to or suck fresh air from. I got one second hand and can see there is plenty of space around the fan grille. I did check how the fan works and it does suck air into the case onto the power amp heat sink so any case should be ok as long as both back and front are removed during use but I’m glad I went with an SKB abs case anyway. Probanly info you may know already but I found it useful to know as a newbie!
  7. And if anyone is interested here are the pics from inside, including a sticker for a amp repair shop so it must have been serviced at some point in Europe! I’ve shown a picture of the fuse size, I will probably get a spare just in case cos I’m paranoid.
  8. So I have taken the cover off my Mk3 and had a look around the inside to check how it is made. Looks like it’s all discrete components and very fixable if needed, and a suitable chunky transformer. In the SKB case I have it was still looking a bit shabby from chips on the cover so I’ve taken it off again to respray it with satin black paint. I would go and get it powder coated if it was living outside a case but it will be well protected inside the rack case and I can always do that at a later date if I want to anyway.
  9. Exactly the same case I used for the one you sold me! (Sent you a pm btw).
  10. Hi. I was given this rack case when I bought an amp but I ended up getting a SKB ABS one. There’s a catch - the zips don’t work properly and are damaged at the ends so you can’t zip it up fully. Still works ok you can zip it up enough to make it work. Quite expensive new so I don’t want to throw it away. It’s a full depth version with carry handles and a pouch for bits and bobs. Pick up only, I’m in Huddersfield and go to Bradford and Wakefield a bit so could meet up or deliver - lets have a chat first. I really don't have time to post it sorry. Thanks
  11. The very same. 😂😂😂 GK is being bought out by Hotblack Destiato
  12. Thanks! I was getting tumbleweeds for a while. 😂
  13. Same. Has to be white guard with blue. But I seem to be in a minority of people who really can’t stand tort guards.
  14. Does anyone have one of the newer BB434 models in West Yorkshire? I’m sorta lusting after one but would like to try one, can’t see any in shops unfortunately.
  15. Any GK amp with a drive and master volume will go dirty, or as they call it “growl”. I absolutely love it as it’s controlled as it’s built in.
  16. I’ve played briefly though an older model 2001 Rb and those things are terrifyingly powerful.
  17. I think @ossyrocks is going to be a poor man when these land in the UK 😂 I’m already saving (got £1.37 so far).
  18. 2000w into 4ohms for the 2001rb???? And GK with their legendarily conservative power ratings????? Are they sponsoring Disaster Area?????? (anyone get this reference?) Love the big transformer inside. Makes me happy.
  19. I have one of these and they are amazing tried it against a load of other overdrive pedals up to £200 and I thought it was the best. Smooth and natural drive.
  20. With less than 300w a 400rb has no damn right to be so fine sounding and so damn loud. i did read on a Reddit post a long time ago that someone had a 1001rb which is supposed to be 700w in 4ohms and he took it to an amp tech to get it checked out when he got it and the tech measured 1000w into 8ohms (found it see screenshot!). I honestly can’t see me using any other amp now.
  21. I bought my 400rb off @ossyrocks and I tried it for the first time at practice. Plugged it into an old Warwick 4x10 and 1x15 stack and it was easily as loud as the 600w Trace Elliott head that was there and sounded miles better. Guitarist commented how amazing it sounds. Yours looks like it was in a combo and has been repurposed into a head with a custom case, I’ve thought about doing that too with a GK combo as the combos aren’t popular due to weight but the heads are always in good condition. Does it have the full case when you take it out?
  22. You don’t need it! 😂 But need is a subjective thing.
  23. Just plugged my 280w GK400rb into some old and pretty knackered (and probably not very efficient) Warwick 8ohm cabs in our rehearsal rooms and I couldn’t turn it up much at all it was so loud. Easily kept up and could drown out the loud drummer next to me if I wanted. Didn’t go past maybe 30% power into the old 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. Was pretty much as loud as the Trace Elliot 600w thing I disconnected (and I hate sorry TE fans).
