  1. Good advice .. it’s amazing what the audience don’t actually notice .. again they pick up more things visually sometimes ie all looking down at the floor or a band members reaction to a bum note !
  2. Not really it’s more the fact that singers ( generally) seem to disengaged from the audience when they are staring at words on a stand and not moving from the same spot all night.. but hey we all see things differently but for me at a gig it looks very amateurish for a front person to be gigging this way.
  3. I don’t like seeing singers with words in front of them .. so many even at gigs seem to do this and it looks terrible ! I think some odd song notes on your setlist is ok maybe the key of the song next to the song title At practice yep notes on the floor at very new material is ok .. As mentioned before remember it’s what we do for fun so enjoy it
  4. I tried a new L2000 tribute and when you turned the bass tone back the volume went off too !! Sent it back and got a PBass instead
  5. Some really good tips given already My advice is to listen to the song and write down the basic chord root notes for the Intro, verse chorus etc and save this in a notebook or folder You can refer to this at home at practice time in case you need a gentle reminder At home practice over the songs playing and make sure you know the basics Next and this is more important is to remember to look like you are enjoying it when you gig and that you are there to entertain and perform not just play ! Learn to be a band as one, sound and image etc Finally always rehearse like it’s a gig at a near gig volume if possible to learn the dynamics of volume etc Have fun
  6. That’s terrible .. horrible sound
  7. I had the red one as a back up to my EBMM and it played well and sounded similar too The new Sterling versions are not that great I hear in comparison?
  8. Can you still buy them ? Matt dark red if I recall with a aluminium pickguard?
  9. I play mostly rock in my band so not sure fretless would fit for me
  10. Thank you RB that’s really kind of you I do plan to hit the local PMT in a few weeks to try out a few variants and maybe a Jazz too I’m in Suffolk so probably not local to each other
  11. Incidentally I noticed your input setting is very low ??
  12. Loving the Yamaha bass Mixing cabs can be hit and miss but I guess if you match the power handling of each cab you will be ok Congratulations on the RM500 they are a great amp
  13. Never played a Jazz so not sure I would like the slimmer neck compared to the PBass which seems about right Im not so keen on the Jazz body shape either and prefer the traditional PBass body shape
  14. I had briefly a G & L L2000 Tribute but the neck was too chunky and it had a fault on the active tone controls .. if I recall when you turned the bass tone the volume went off !! Wiring was faulty I guess.. I sent it back and got my Pbass
  15. Lol .. surely thats outlawed saying that on Basschat !!! You are right I don’t need one but I would like one ( perhaps )
  16. Hey folks I have just the one bass, Fender Player Series PBass and it’s very good too. As getting to stores is / has been difficult and some locally have limited stock .. my question is for my second bass should I get a PBass with a different neck say maple ? Or get something very different? Trying to stay with a close match in neck / nut width and a budget of £700 or less ideally new It would be mostly a back up bass as I’m delighted with the lovely tone I get from my current new PBass and I’m happy to set them up so it does really play nicely Prior to this some years back I had an EBMM Stingray 4 USA model and I thought it couldn’t be beaten ! I think I actually prefer the PBass !

  18. I too have the ABM210H Pro Neo cabs Very compact and light cabs
  19. So would you see a benefit live or is it really a studio thing ? I can see the open string advantage but have not considered it to be an issue live and not using one
  20. Why and when do you use a bass mute ? The kind that sits just in front of the nut I have one but I’m not sure why it would be an advantage to use it ?
  21. I think the idea of adjusting while seated comes from playing the guitar I don’t think it works for a bassist
  22. I think body shape ( human not instrument) also plays a part to the ideal position
  23. Seems like many of us have them slung in a very similar height Let’s face it low is cool and more rock & roll whereas high is slapper territory I think ! Long live rock & roll
