  1. I’m so amazed that singers apply to bands and in so many cases go not have any PA or even fold back etc They also tend not to know anything about setting one up and EQ, reverb, feedback etc etc Hey that’s band life for you !
  2. The PSX112 are lighter which may become a preference to our lady singer !!
  3. Yes just seen that originally advertised in 2018 !! It’s in Wales though and my singer is Cambridge
  4. All fixed ?? I had to visit them in Essex last week Great bunch of guys
  5. Do you think PSX112 would handle typical pub gigs if used for two mikes on vocals for rock covers band Not huge venues but large to medium sized U.K. pubs where volumes have to be sensible
  6. Would the Wharfedale PSX112 be loud enough for typical pub gigs ? They are rated 350W per side and next up is the heavier 15” version at 450W each
  7. Thanks for more advice ok some extra info The band will be a typical pub rock band with one guitar average hitter drummer me on bass and one vocalist ( female ) and guitarist adding BV I know a local band using the Alto TS312 cabs and they appear to be loud enough for our typical venues etc I’ve always thought that a genuine 300 to 400W per side is about the minimum more is better of course for extra headroom I think the singer is looking for new PA bundles without mikes as we have those already
  8. That’s correct 👍... it’s a new band with a limited budget and ideally trying to keep costs sensible and get us going for small / medium gigs and most importantly rehearsals .. some good tips and links thanks guys
  9. Yep I agree that looks unlikely Andertons would be able to compete, but to me that does look worryingly out of parity I always think a phone call is worth trying if only to make Andertons aware of the difference. Stores will only sharpen prices if we give them an opportunity or feedback and for the cost of a call we may just discover that deals can be had, unless it’s a Ricky in which case you could holiday in Germany ( when allowed ) buy the bass and still have change 😂
  10. I agree if the U.K. stores claim they cannot compete then Thomann etc have a chance to take the business. I do think we often don’t give some U.K. outlets a chance to compete with a quick phone call. Often its stock related and some great deals can be found but as we all know eventually there will be no physical stores to play basses or hear amps for real and we finally end up like the rest of the high street shops .. gone !! I don’t disagree Thomann are a superb outlet but I think supporting local and U.K. business should be encouraged even more so now
  11. How about we support our own U.K. stores and staff and encourage them to be more competitive which they will often do when asked. Ive used Thomann once last year for a Marshall valve Combo that took ages to arrive and worried me a bit if needing to go back. Now I will stick with PMT, Andertons, or Ashdown direct etc etc Granted we still have the U.K. couriers to contend with but I’ve found DPD to be excellent and accurate with delivery promises etc Buy from British based stores - you know it makes sense 😉
  12. what about Alto TS312 cabs x 2 Are they any good as a starter??
  13. I think budget for two speakers / stands and mixer would be £500 to £600 approx Not much I know
  14. Thanks for the tips so far Initially thus will only be for vocals and subs not needed so probably 12” tops and most likely active speakers Transport and storage isn’t a problem and we have vocal mikes etc and will add later fold back monitors For now this is for band rehearsal and pub gigs with a moderate loud band. Im trying to get a feel for wattage so it’s decent for most venues from large pubs to small pubs and the occasional small hall What about brands such as Yamaha, Peavey, Studiomaster, JBL etc etc
  15. Our newly formed rock covers band needs to find a PA system for our female vocalist It will at this stage only be used for vocals at small to medium pub / club gigs Any advice on kind of wattage we should aim for as a system Our singer has a powerful voice if that helps but we don’t want to be under powered in the vocal department!! Was thinking two stand mounted PA speakers ( no subs ) such as 10 or 12” tops and a small mixer either powered or not depending on if active cabs or passive Will only need around four channels at this stage Advice ?
  16. I have the ABM210H EVO IV Pro Neo cabs and I think they are very similar to the RM cabs. The ABM cabs have choices of fronts, mine are black metal grill and I think a little heavier than the RM cabs which may be the timber used ? My first reaction was how small they are for a 210 cab but they are loud and punchy
  17. I’m so jealous.. I wish I could be rehearsing but we are still waiting to find a decent lead guitarist So many musicians have gone to ground understandably
  18. If you still have this next month I’m interested for sure 👍 Just waiting to get new band started first
  19. Are the rehearsal studios open from the 12th April ?? Do you have to wear a face covering ?
  20. I gigged this amp with the 610 cab for a few years superb amp and great for rock
  21. I’ve looked at this a few months back and in the end got the Ashdown RM800 The RM500 is great too Had a Markbass LM111 a while back and it’s a nice amp but wasn’t for me Peavey Minimax ruined by noisy fan even the new version suffers this Many rave about TC stuff but some say they are a bit sterile sounding ?? I think most Class D heads are very similar in truth with a few different features and tone tweeking ability. A very good low cost 500W no frills amp is the Ashdown Original 500 I also tried Ampeg PF800 but it wasn’t for me either. Plus Ashdown are U.K. based and offer 5yr warranty and great service if needed They also do good cabs too
  22. A few years back I played an Ampeg SVT CL 300w valve head and 610 cab I now play the Ashdown RM800 !! Do I miss valve amps, not sure I do really and having a lightweight Class D head is a joy to carry around. I think they do give you a warmth in the tone but in most band small / med sized gigs I don’t think you would hear a lot of difference in my opinion
  23. Are you selling the Ashdown? How wide is it as some are wider than the new Neo Cabs
