Darkglass Alpha Omicron is better
-
I had years back a USA EB Musicman 2 EQ and it was a lovely bass More recently I had the Sterling Ray34 in hope it would sound close ?? It didn’t I found it disappointing on most points and sold it on. I still prefer a basic PBass ( passive ) that just seems right for everything! So sadly I don’t rate the Sterling Sub series albeit they are a low cost bass and a good bass for some just not for me

Amps you never tried and then discovered a star or two
BassAdder60 replied to BassAdder60's topic in Amps and Cabs
For me I think it’s several things on the TE1200 that offer a better sounding amp The bass EQ frequency values are not as low as say Ampeg and Ashdown and this seems to make it less “ wooly” or “ dark” sounding as it’s 70hz. The dual compressors are excellent and the clean headroom is fantastic. I think the TE1200 can get close to the Ashdown or Ampeg sound especially with a pedal in front but its fair to say they can’t near the sound of the TE1200 and that’s what surprised me, a noticeable clarity and great sounding amp -

There is definitely something special about the TE1200, maybe the EQ frequency points or the dual compressors but it sounds lovely. I was tempted last year but the new price put me off slightly but the purchase on here was a great deal -

Yep I found my “mojo” again for playing in a band New people and better songs Great fun buying gear and discovering some great amps ! -
Having originally planned to quit with all my lovely bass rigs sold ( except cabs ) I had the opportunity to join a new band that gave me my mojo for playing again Frantically looking for new amps but used I found myself searching on here for some “ different amps” I hadn’t tried before Enter EBS Reidmar 750 wow a cracking amp and very nice sounding with a better EQ than previous amps I have owned Next enter EBS Reidmar 752 same as above but newer less powerful into 4ohms version ( decided to keep this one ) Next TE1200 omg bloody amazing amp ( keeping ) So I’ve found the EQ frequencies on these amps especially the “ low” is more to my liking compared to many Ashdown, Ampeg, Orange etc amps I’ve owned. Never thought about EBS as a brand but they make an excellent very decent sounding amp. The TE1200 is just a nudge above them for sound quality but very close and one of the nicest sounding amps I’ve owned. All have good built in compressors so no more pedals to worry about. Hopefully that’s it with my new stock of gear !

Wow 4 pages of response to my question !! I’m looking to flip sides and go stage left ( next to lead guitarist ) and see how that works out -

Purchased the Trace Elliot TE1200 from James ( JGSpector ) and it was an easy transaction and amp arrived well packed and as described Trusted Basschatter

Played mostly in four piece bands so always stood left side of drummer as you face band but I’m now in a five piece band with two guitarists. Which is the better side to stand and why ? I see many five piece bands with bassist on right side as you face band

If you’re a soul / funk player then Ampeg, Ashdown, Fender may be a bit vintage sounding for you Mark Bass would be the way to go I think as they are better at the clean tone stuff

Wireless system - Lekato, Boss or something else?

Funny thing is I’ve gone back to the old guitar lead again ! -
The new Ampeg Venture series seems to be a slow burn and not that many users or reviews I did see one sold on here V12 recently so are they a disappointment or a good replacement to the PF series ?

I’ve just purchased it !!

Life isnt always “ logical” my initial plan was to stop gigging hence why I let go my heavy / large amp rig. We have all been there before I’m sure sell stuff and later regret it ! I have an opportunity to play again in a new band more to my liking so I’m exploring that and needed a gig worthy amp. I still kept my SVT 112AV cabs so the PF800 will do with that setup Either way I’m happy to explore my options but in hindsight I should of kept my original rig but it was a heavy beast to lug around so in a way I’m better off now
