  1. Speak to your band buddies and agree to take a band timeout ! Dont just leave as you will most likely regret it later. It’s surprising how a few weeks away can refresh the mind and make things seem clear once more. Stay strong
  2. I don’t think it’s been said it’s for fixing skill but improving the final sound which a compressor can do with certain styles that technique or lack of it would make any difference either way ! 😉🤣
  3. And in fairness most pedals would do that when increasing the gain. It’s only reproducing what is a actually present in the input signal
  4. And it’s worked flawlessly since I purchased mine. I pop mine in a Neotech pouch which goes in my back jeans pocket I wouldn’t be without it and you have a great tuner too
  5. I’m going back on to a pick so adding a compressor very soon !
  6. Gone back to using a Keeley Bassist !
  7. I’ve just ordered a new one so it will be interesting if I hear it ! It’s for playing live so I’m sure it wouldn’t matter anyway ! Playing with a pick and I need it to smooth out my playing a bit
  8. I turn my cab tweeter off on my SVT212AV cab and this helps achieve the right tone without being harsh
  9. Scrap it and get a new one on insurance ! Dont take the risk water and electricity will not end well and as mentioned it will start to corrode and fail eventually anyways
  10. I use an Ampeg SVt 212 and it’s always loud enough for a very loud rock band I guess a 210 would hang there just about but I would lean towards 212 4ohm cab or two 210 8 ohm cabs I think BF can do loud but it may not be pleasant to your ears so only you can decide as suggested
  11. We tune to Eb standard and I use Fender Nickel Plated Rounds and they sound good, decent tension and keep their zing for about 3months with regular gigs etc
  12. Love this pedal. This into my Ampeg V4B sounds fantastic for rock
  13. We had 80% of our setlist as band favourites but we have had to accept as a rock covers band some songs are a must as crowd pleasers and it’s mostly to get women up dancing !
  14. Use Canva and make your own ?
  15. New ones into set are I Predict a Riot Roll with it Place your hands Sandman
  16. Indeed we both agree and find different needs for one or not in my case as I get minor compression from different sources ie All Valve Amp and drive pedal. There is no right or wrong if it works for each and one of us
  17. I don’t slap or pop so no need for any worry about notes sticking out !! I do fully appreciate for certain times and techniques it has a valuable use but I’m still not sure I personally would gain anything using one.
  18. And for bands that play small venues and no sound engineer ? Again I see no evidence a compressor is needed in a typical pub band scenario!
  19. Yes I appreciate the understandings and getting it right but playing live as a bass player I question the real benefit that a fingerstyle player in a loud rock band would hear / feel. Granted it’s crucial in recorded music and studios and PA rigs but I still say it’s debatable for a basic gigging band if it’s really necessary ( I would stand corrected if there was real evidence to the contrary) but for players who have decent technique and dynamics I still ask is it really worth it ?
  20. I would be curious if most bass compressor uses are playing slap ? Not sure standard fingerstyle playing with good technique really needs it before the amp or in the amp ? What says you guys ?
  21. Another vote for Peach Awesome store and great staff
  22. Omg I couldn’t be having that !! I like my rig to look cool and sound cool that doesn’t do it for me it’s way too much ocd territory! I would at least turn the cabs but I suspect even then they are not wide enough
  23. Dave Green is still the designer but he is perhaps stuck in the past I feel. Great guy but he is definitely old school in mind and design I think Time to move into the modern era or get left behind
  24. I’ve never played a pure clean tone preferring the tone from an all valve amp. Just added the Darkglass Alpha Omicron pedal for light overdrive and it sounds better with the band and our rock set In isolation I like a cleaner sounding bass but in context with the band I prefer a slightly overdriven tone ( very slight bit of grind ) This tends to sit better in a distorted guitar based band sound
