This is about to go into the set. Dont like his vocals but it’s a fun bass line

With that kind of money I would be booking a visit to Peach Music and it would be worth the drive ! A quality shop with great stock and good staff. I’ve been into and used most of the big named stores and none come close to Peach, maybe Anderson’s is second best for an actual store but that’s too far away PMT are probably the worse and I wouldn’t think of going to them unless I was desperate for some strings ! The stock and QC is woeful in my experience and I’ve used them on and off over the last ten years

Pick or Fingers … ongoing dilemma!!
BassAdder60 replied to BassAdder60's topic in Theory and Technique
Since I purchased my American Performer PBass the difference in tone from fingers to pick is less. I assume this is down to better pickups and the superior tone control ? I’ve also added a Darkglass Alpha Omicron pedal to bring out a bit of clanky grind on low settings and with fingers I get a more pronounced attack on each note before I added the pedal -
Just added the Darkglass AO pedal and on low drive settings it’s sounding very nice and more attack Compressor off the board as that didn’t help !

I have and I didn’t like them at all I need the zing from RW

Starting to find a solution, plucking style, lower action and incoming a Darkglass AO pedal to add a bit of bite and growl !!
-
yep it was this one that convinced me

Any users of this DK pedal on here ?

Update .. I was too hasty !! I tried the BC-1X with a new BB-1X set on low drive and it’s a very nice pairing . Playing with a pick and PBass they work well together with the BC-1X adding a little more depth to the picked note and the BB-1X adds a tiny bit of grit and the EQ with added bass fills the pick tone out nicely

Yes it was great but I don’t think I’m going to change my Opto Comp Both good pedals for what I need

That’s why I check out any venue we plan to gig and conditions ( stated on the bands FB pages states a 5m x 4m playing area for the band ! I would have said no to that venue !!

In the U.K. .. rip box open the moment courier has dropped it off ! Never had any issue with any guitar or bass or amp for that matter

I’m using a compressor now to tweek my sound Am I correct in thinking pick playing would be better with a slow release ? Fingerstyle fast release ? Using Boss BC-1X do attack is fixed

Looks good enough and imagine the 1400w is peak power not RMS but still should be ample For mixers cheap end look at Behringer as they are good value Get as many channels as you can Minimum 8ch and ideally one with built in FX

Personally for the majority of U.K. pub gigs no one will care if you go Vox only into the PA or very costly rig and whole band is in it. For £750 you could get a reasonable rig but try and stick to 12” tops in the budget brands Alto etc or aim for Yamaha or similar quality secondhand Or go very old school and heavy old passive Peavey cabs, power amp and mixer and a floor monitor A ton of old Peavey rigs kicking around and still sound good enough for a pub band. Dont forget lights too are an important part of a live show even in a pub

Need Advice on Lightweight Portable Ampeg Rig
BassAdder60 replied to sheedo's topic in Amps and Cabs
It’s the best rig I’ve ever used Cab is fantastic ( a little heavy but worth it ) and the V4B just sounds great regardless of how you set it. Works very well with a PBass and suits rock very well -
Need Advice on Lightweight Portable Ampeg Rig
BassAdder60 replied to sheedo's topic in Amps and Cabs
I’m a V4B user for gigs with the SVT212AV cab Very loud valve amp used in a four piece rock band Best amp I’ve ever owned by a long way and worth the weight My master volume at a typical pub gig is 9 o clock !! -
I used the MXR it’s a great pedal and performs very well
-
My belief is a life / family / relationship balance is important to how often you gig We limit it to two gigs per month max and virtually none in Aug ( holidays etc ) Bands have a natural life expectancy and working everyone too hard generally results in folk leaving !

I had a Legacy 800 and used Ashdown cabs and a PBass I didn’t like the very mid forward tone that I couldn’t lose It was just too much Try the Genzler Magellan 800 as it’s amazing in comparison

I loved my ABM600 but I have found better amps along the way that suits my needs etc They are certainly a fine amp as are the RM series

That sounds promising I’m using the Ampeg Optocomp which for a low cost pedal works ok but tends to remove highs a little I’m hoping the Boss pedal is clean ? And does a decent job I’ve tried MXR before and Keeley and sold them both
