Still loving this rig 👍

Sadly there are many delusional singers in bands who think they can sing !! They get false encouragement from friends and family which makes them believe they can sing. Get the job done and ask her to stand down politely and find someone better. Took us 6 months to find a good singer but we now have two as they get up to speed to take over in June leaving just one singer. A bad singer will ruin a band !!

Based on the majority of damaged and faulty goods they send out I’m not surprised they are in trouble !

Genzler Magellan amps are superb and offer a lot of amp for the money Easy to use EQ and loud for their rated wattage. Very nice indeed
-
Yep this is correct ( how we play it ) Although much of the song is over just F
-
I use my TE Elf into a SVT 212AV 4 ohm cab and it’s loud ! Better cabs would help
-
Genzler Magellan 800 would be a possibility

40th Anniversary Precision £259 at Thomann!
BassAdder60 replied to Frank n funker's topic in Bass Guitars
I would estimate a selling price around £200 - £250 Dont forget online may be offering free shipping too. -
I tried the ABM 750 and at the time owned the 600 I couldn’t really hear any difference between the two if I’m honest, certainly not to justify the price. I think they should have added more features because to me it was really a black ABM600 with two VDU’s and a marginal increase in watts .. I didn’t get it sorry !

I love the simple Ampeg tone and I had a PF800 which sounded great but underpowered for a claimed 800w I now use the V4B 100w head which is louder than the PF800 ! Go figure !!

Venture series ?

Great cab .. much better choice, well done 👍
-
Good plan .. if you made an eBay bid you can retract it ( EBay website not the App ) You made the right decision
-
Personally I would avoid that cab as it will be under rated and sound terrible if pushed to be heard. There are many better cabs out there, this isn’t one of them in my opinion. As it’s a 4ohm cab you can’t add a second cab either so potentially a waste of your money. I would seek out one of the low cost Laney or Ashdown cabs in 8ohm format rated to 300w per cab

Like so many of us I have quit, sold all my gear and decided I was done with band life. Without a band I saw little point in playing the bass ! Then after a few years break you get the urge to play again Around the age of mid fifties I said I would be done with bands by the time I reach 60 ( just seemed beyond that I would be too old ) Im now 63 and play in the best band for fun I’ve ever experienced and it’s the people I’m fortunate to be with make it what it is. While I have good health I will carry on and review it when I’m 66 !!

Ashdown Neo cabs or RM series ?
-
Although I agree but a decent lightweight 2x 12 4 ohm cab is all you need but the challenge is getting a reasonably priced lightweight cab. Two small 1 x12 8 ohm cabs are easier for carrying if you find a decent make / model Everything is relative to what each person considers a weight to carry as acceptable. My Ampeg SVT212AV cab is 30kg approx and it’s an easy carry if you are strong but I wouldn’t want to carry it up flights of stairs ! At the end of the day the budget will determine how good and how light

If you get a 500w ( choose wisely as some are not loud for claimed 500w) and add a single 8ohm cab you will get around max 250w power. Just about enough to gig with if it’s a decent cab. Or buy a single 4ohm cab and get the full head power which if 500w would be ample to gig with A decent cab (4ohms ) or two (8ohm) cabs will make the world of difference My advice is get the largest you can comfortably carry. Go too puny and most sound boxy and struggle unless it’s high end stuff

Mine … TUNER Shure GLXD16+ Wireless / Tuner - awesome in every way COMPRESSOR Ampeg Opto Comp - simple low cost and it works well DRIVE / EQ TC Spark Booster - legendary tone and simple EQ Adds an extra input push into my V4B tube amp

Leaked: Fender Vintera II series...hoooo boy.
BassAdder60 replied to BassAgent's topic in Bass Guitars
I have had my last two new basses arrive in slightly under perfect condition. As I gig mine I’m happy to accept but it’s frustrating when they turn up marked. Thats how they leave the factory in some cases -
I’m 63 !

I never have problems carry my rig ( same cab and head ) Yep it’s heavy but it’s worth it !!

Using a compressor to get a tight, punchy pick sound
BassAdder60 replied to franzbassist's topic in Effects
I play Rebel Yell and find fingers are better for a fuller sound Tried with a pick many times but always missed that deep full fundamental of each note Sadly I tried many different amps and pedals before getting a rig that worked for me -
Ok .. nobody replied so I will add my experience with the MG800 They are lovely amps and the build quality is fantastic. EQ and tone are very well designed and it’s a very versatile amp. It will run down to 2.67 ohms too as an added bonus
