  1. I have had my last two new basses arrive in slightly under perfect condition. As I gig mine I’m happy to accept but it’s frustrating when they turn up marked. Thats how they leave the factory in some cases
  2. I’m 63 !
  3. I never have problems carry my rig ( same cab and head ) Yep it’s heavy but it’s worth it !!
  4. I play Rebel Yell and find fingers are better for a fuller sound Tried with a pick many times but always missed that deep full fundamental of each note Sadly I tried many different amps and pedals before getting a rig that worked for me
  5. Ok .. nobody replied so I will add my experience with the MG800 They are lovely amps and the build quality is fantastic. EQ and tone are very well designed and it’s a very versatile amp. It will run down to 2.67 ohms too as an added bonus
  6. Just curious to how frequently folk change their power tubes ? Mine is still virtually new but I gig it twice a month and use it once a week at rehearsals. Whats the general consensus? Yearly ? Never ?
  7. Simple but they just work 👍
  8. 412 ? Didn’t think they sold a 4x12 !
  9. I still look after it but carrying the load of gear isn’t a problem . I’m a big strong guy and never struggle, when I do it’s time to stop playing !
  10. At 63yrs old I’m pleased I don’t have any back problems or mobility issues That’s why I still lug the SVT212AV cab and V4B around to gigs while I still can !!
  11. I’m a user of the Ampeg Opto Comp and I really like it It has a warm tone ( a bit valve amp vibe ) and it works very well I’ve tried a few such as Keeley, Boss, MXR, TC, but I keep coming back to the Opto Comp Great price too
  12. I don’t think the weight is an issue ( for most able bodied ) but granted some might struggle lifting and carrying it far !! For me it’s worth it purely for the sound !!
  13. On my second Ampeg V4B head and for a 100w all valve amp it’s the nicest amp I’ve ever used in my band. There is something about the fullness and warmth of the amps tone that nothing seems to come close. And it’s a loud amp .. we are a loud rock band and my V4B never struggles for volume ( not using the PA ) Amazing amps, simple EQ and looks great on the matching SVT212AV cab
  14. I agree .. I tried the Ampeg PF500 and felt it was very light on power The Elf is a loud amp for a class D and useable EQ and decent built in compressor
  15. Nope unfortunately it’s 4ohms like the Elf
  16. Yep 4ohms min is the usual on most class D or A/ B amps apart from a few such as Aguilar, Mesa, Genzler etc that can go to 2.67 or even 2ohms !
  17. I used mine with my 4ohm SVT212AV cab and it was plenty loud enough for a loud rock band !
  18. Another vote for the TE ELF definitely loud enough for small pub gigs but you will need a rubber mat on your cab as the ELF is in danger of sliding or bouncing off !! The EQ on the ELF is definitely not scooped and I find it a very useable EQ for fingerstyle rock / pop with a PBass Mine sits in my bag as a back up amp to my Ampeg V4B but it sounds bloody amazing
  19. I’m still using the Shure system every gig and find it perfect Highly recommended folks
  20. I had a Tone Hammer 700 for a while Very tube like sounding head but I found the EQ a bit frustrating! Im pretty much all Ampeg these days
  21. Pictures ???
  22. More Vintera Porn !
  23. I tried one but didn’t like the drive sound at all
  24. TC Spark Booster would be my choice
  25. I agree with Lozz the EQ looks fine perhaps boost the 1.2khz more ( if fingerstyle player ) as that adds brightness to the tone. I never found a PBass to lack a balanced sound over all strings .. my Stingray G string well that’s another story !! Funny thing on my Vintera II PBass the pickups are set with a very steep angle in the middle but they sound awesome too. They were very well set up at the factory I feel
