  1. I believe there’s a talented bass player kind of folk and then there are literally 1000’s of acceptable bass players that do what’s needed for the band they are part of. Highly talented doesn’t always make a good team player or band asset but being good enough and fitting in are more important in my view
  2. My Shure GLXD16+ is in a neoprene pouch which goes in my back pocket I did fix them to my straps but I didn’t like the thud of it hitting the floor when I took my bass off. Back jeans pocket seems to work well and a slightly shorter lead too
  3. That’s a relief .. well done and enjoy the amp
  4. You would think they would have lower prices in store for collection to encourage actual folk to come to the store!! PMT are mostly ok but on occasions I see damaged goods being sold as new, wrong prices and now they charge more for shipping Ive started using Gear4 Music, GAK and a few others online who seem to get it right more often as not !
  5. If it’s cutting out assuming it’s not a poor input connection then the class D module might be faulty which would mean unlikely it can be repaired at a sensible price. I would return to the seller for a refund asap I assume you have a good speaker connection? Try a Jack in the middle of the Speakon ( they are dual input I think on the RM ) and try that Sounds mostly like a poor connection but the fact it cut out for several minutes is a worry. Ringing Dave Green at Ashdown would be helpful or posting it to them. They offer repairs at virtually nothing !! But if the class D module is faulty they would probably say it’s not repairable.
  6. I use the Ampeg compressor pedal and it works really well with most amps. Turn down the compressor knob and you should minimise the squashy affect !
  7. I asked Dave Green about input levels once and he said as long as it’s not hard over into the red all the time and it sounds good then no damage would be done What I found was EQ, drive etc all played a part towards input gain and of course input gain level itself
  8. I’ve discovered that I’m 100% a PBass player based on feel and sound. I’ve not found anything better suited to my Ampeg V4B and playing rock
  9. I believe in the 50’s Vintera they are the same and very nice they are too I like the Vintera as it has a bright punchy sound ( not dark and muddy ) Best sounding PBass I’ve owned
  10. My working pair Ive changed the bridge on the red one to a Gotoh 204B bridge and will do the same on the black one.
  11. Yep exactly that 👍 Out of the box it didn’t need adjusting so I’m happy with it
  12. It arrived …. Great bass and very impressed, nicely set up out of the box and plays like it should This will be joining my Dakota Red Vintera as my main working basses Looks lovely in black with the gold pickguard and maple neck
  13. It arrived …. Great bass and very impressed, nicely set up out of the box and plays like it should This will be joining my Dakota Red Vintera as my main working basses
  14. Are you sure you’re not distorting the input with too much signal gain ? That can sometimes sound like a rattle etc ! ?
  15. Arriving today hopefully!! Decided the Vintera 50’s PBass is my perfect fit ( already have the Dakota Red one ) If the new series is as good then I will be very pleased Further reports upon arrival today
  16. I agree but a set of new decent roundwounds and you will hear a better sounding bass immediately Not sure what the stock factory gauge is but I suspect 45-105 nickel plated long scale would suffice
  17. Make sure you understand the “ shape button feature” it makes a huge difference to a good sound or a buried sound with a band !!
  18. I guess what you really want to know is when are you ready to play in a band. Playing in a band is very different to playing along to recorded songs or learning tab etc it requires other skills that you don’t learn until you play with other musicians. Choose what kind of band you would like to play in and learn 3 or 4 good covers and then look on JMB for band buddies and off you go !! I would say with regular practice 3 -6 months is plenty of time to be good enough to start something
  19. I don’t think Ashdown come on here these days ! Im fairly sure if it’s wider then it would have been an amp pulled out of a combo.
  20. As a punter I would be right miffed if the party entertainment ended at 11:30 or earlier and packed up. NYE folks is to celebrate going into .. yep you’ve guessed it the NEW YEAR !! 😄 Bands should play at least to stroke of midnight or have alternative music etc until midnight
  21. Yes of course but isn’t it traditional for entertainment to run into 2024 to see in the new year ?? That’s the whole point of a NYE gig surely ?? Last gig I did on NYE we played in total for 4 hours 9pm to 1pm and that was typical of many venues
  22. Surely that doesn’t count as a NYE gig as you havnt played into 2024 ? I thought that was the normal for venues ??
  23. In the past it was this But now it’s this ! I seem to have a thing for heavy weight and valves !!
