I found the same on my SGT so I returned it for a refund It’s very nice but I wasn’t using half of the features really Now I use the V4B and I don’t need pedals for that tone !

Last nights gig Sounded superb

I think the new ones have different power tubes today. I don’t think they are 7027 but 6L6 which are around £35 per tube in the U.K.

Ever bought gear you regretted buying?

Still here 👍 -
Play along to a track ( in the style of music you like ) so they can see you and hear you’re playing. The track playing should be quieter than your bass. Record a couple of minutes tops on your phone and send that off to any interested folk. It’s what a few of us did during lockdown when we could meet up. JMB is shocking now .. try Bandmix and find a way to allow people to find you on Facebook so you don’t have to subscribe to message folk Or search your local Facebook pages for local musicians etc or pop along to an open mic night

I will do my best 😂

I saw the Fender Meterora in GG Birmingham and was disappointed how it looked in the flesh. Something about it looked cheap and I wasn’t tempted to even try it Plus it’s active and that’s not a Fender strongpoint

That’s terrible to be just cast aside such as that. Venues in some cases are managed by very inexperienced event organisers! Struggling industry made worse by the wrong people running them !

Good review .. a top tip for lightweight class d amps is to pop a bar mat on the amp top I have a large black rubber one that sits on my cab and never had an amp move. I really wanted to enjoy this amp when I tried one but I had a rogue new one arrive and there was more wrong with it than right ! It was returned and I got something else

Used it for band rehearsal last night AWESOME!! The best sound ever and with a PBass with pick it just works .. Amazing full tone last nights settings with the band ( loud ) and Ultra Low engaged mids set on 800hz

Trace Elliott GP7 AH 130s - loud enough to gig with?
BassAdder60 replied to Jamesemt's topic in Amps and Cabs
Personally I would grab the TE Elf and run it into a 4 ohm cab such as 210 or 212 etc Its low cost sounds amazing and loud for a tiny head -
Yep .. it really has a lovely sound .. hard to describe but it’s definitely got that something special

I don’t thinks there’s much left out there that I wish to try now. Until something new is launched 😂

I agree they are equally amazing as they are heavy ! But this should be my last amp purchase !! This will stay put and even after I stop gigging it will be my home rig. Beautiful valve sound and that perfect Ampeg tone that works for rock At 63 I’m still fit and able as a big guy to carry heavy stuff from van to venue etc. Its worth it for sure

Arrived today from Andertons and it’s just as amazing as I remember when I got one a while back. EQ is so simple but works ( easier than my old CTM100) The depth to the notes is something to behold.. now I recall why I like all valve heads… they just sound glorious Pbass straight in, pick played rock it just works .. perfect match. Its heavy but so is my SVT212AV cab !! Will be at rehearsals tomorrow ready for first gig with it Saturday 🤟

Thanks Bill .. I’m confident I can use it as you say .. it’s nice to know that’s possible

I’m going to run it with just the 4 ohm cab I think .. seems like the better approach

The itch for a full valve amp was too strong and I’ve just ordered a new V4B amp !! I purchased one off here last year and it was a great amp but at the time I was unsure and like an idiot sold it ! The Ashdown CTM100 was a close second but I couldn’t get on with the EQ on it really. The V4B will be sitting on my SVT212AV cab and for larger gigs I will use the second cab SVT112AV and use my Genzler Magellan 800 that can run to 2.67ohms So I’m back with a fully valve amp and sadly my lovely Ashdown ABM600 is now up for sale on here ( very difficult decision) but one in one out is my policy !

Ashdown ABM600 bass head and cover As new condition, but I’ve gone all valve and sadly this must go Purchased Feb 2021 and had minimal use and well looked after. With Roqsolid cover included Can be shipped in U.K. by DPD delivery if you add £20.00 to the price or you can arrange a courier and collection yourself

I’ve gigged with 100w all valve amps and plenty loud enough
-
Thanks Bill Any damage likely of power tubes and OPT ? I assume not as you would have said ! It wouldn’t be used like this every gig but occasionally when both cabs used.
-
Anyone used the Ampeg V4B head into 2.67ohms instead of 2 or 4 ohms ? Did you use the 2ohm tapping ? Im tempted to get the V4B again but it must on some gigs run my SVT212AV and SVT112AV ( total 2.67ohms )

Thanks Chris

Ashdown ABM revelation + questions (compressor, tube etc)
BassAdder60 replied to NeonMig's topic in Amps and Cabs
I still think in the long run the ABM600 is the better buy
