  1. The Genzler 4 on the floor has fantastic HPF and LPF on the drive Really makes a difference to the tone and I can see how useful they are
  2. Never gave it much thought about the sliders on my ABM600 Taking the roqsolid cover off always seems to turn the rotary knobs a bit though !
  3. Tried a black pickguard ( 10 hole ) and didn’t like it .. made it look cheap and no longer classy ! Put back to original and the anodised aluminium one helps the shielding too
  4. ABM V has been out for months direct from Ashdown and U.K. built Compared to the ABM600 IV I couldn’t hear any difference! I sent mine back and stayed with the 600
  5. So guys … what about BBOT bridges ?? 🙄😉😂
  6. I gig this song and find with fingers I get close enough to be good enough I can play it with a pick better as the attack for the gallop really comes through and compliments the guitar sound Tone issue … fingers sounds full but less articulate.. good enough or pick is less full but articulation is spot on ( palm muting helps )
  7. I find large triangle picks tend to minimise the moving in your fingers issue
  8. All this discussion about bridges makes you really question the expense of some products in search of tone. Where a simple change of technique or pick thickness can make a huge difference to your tone ! Exotic rare wood for your next bass project ? Only if you plan to hang it on a wall as art 😂🎸
  9. And back to the bridge question ! I’ve replaced them for other reasons than tone although sustain may or may not be a factor but I’m not concerned about that particularly. More importantly it looks more in keeping with a standard Fender bridge and the adjustment is better and I can achieve lower action ( important to me ) The other point is Hosco threaded saddles seem far superior to the BBOT on Player Series that are famed at moving and grub screws becoming loose as you play over some hours ( gig ) Plus they look bloody cool too 🤟
  10. Took me ages to find I prefer the 7250 compared to DR, Elixir, Daddario, Ernie Ball, Elites, Etc etc They are the stock strings on Fender and they just work. I tune down to Eb and the tension is perfect for this
  11. Did you pay for insurance cover ? Evri is the last people I would use for shipping musical gear ( sorry ) DPD, Parcelforce, UPS, FedEx etc are better as the move a lot of the shops gear to customers I hope you get it sorted
  12. Fender 7250M x three packs for three basses approx £20 a pack and I change every 3 months on average
  13. Ok all my PBass have vintage bridges now and I like the look and feel of them. They look visually more correct and so far I’m happy I’m hoping the feint lines in the lacquer will disappear over time where the large HiMass were fitted Simple change to the bass but I think worth it and I can get lower action too
  14. I still love this song, so simple yet a great crowd pleaser in pubs etc
  15. ^+1 this .. I changed my Player Series bent bridge because the saddles would move and grub screws wind out. Himass fitted removed that problem completely. However they do look ugly and out of proportion sitting on a PBass The arrival of my Vintera which has the vintage bridge with threaded saddles open my eyes to the alternative hence buying the Hosco Japanese bridge with threaded saddles. One bass ( my Silver one ) returned to this bridge and my other Player which also has a HiMass on it is yet to be changed back, next string change probably
  16. Me neither .. a thumpy tone of flats and foam is great for some genres but for me a sustained clear ringing note from roundwounds is my aim ( rock ) Playing with a pick is also helpful with this as is correct EQ at the amp
  17. I’ve found the vintage threaded saddles very stable as you can use the threads to pull the saddle inwards slightly so they are squeezed together. The Player series bridge saddles move side to side and the screws wind undone from vibration !
  18. No worries.. they don’t cost much !! If they are it’s always handy to have spares
  19. Thanks, I’ve ordered some 8mm and 10mm slotted screws for spares etc and losing a bit of the height of screw sticking out. Good call thank you
  20. Post resurrection!!!! I’ve just removed my HiMass bridge on my PBass and fitted the Hosco Vintage bridge with threaded saddles As long as the saddles stay put I’m going to do my other PBass too. Very slight mark in the lacquer where the large HiMass was fitted but I’m hoping in time that will disappear? In terms of tone .. same I guess but I can get action lower and it looks more like the original. Looks like my Vintera bass now too
  21. Strangely I don’t find the neck a lot different to my Player Series PBass in terms of playing. I’m a big guy with reasonably large hands and it feels more right than say a Jazz neck hence why I recently sold off my lovely new Jazz. Wider slightly but less chunky due to radius etc and it just feels right for me. Jury is still out regarding the pickguard
