I’ve discovered that I’m 100% a PBass player based on feel and sound. I’ve not found anything better suited to my Ampeg V4B and playing rock

I believe in the 50’s Vintera they are the same and very nice they are too I like the Vintera as it has a bright punchy sound ( not dark and muddy ) Best sounding PBass I’ve owned -

Help needed: Identifying source of unwelcome "rattle".
BassAdder60 replied to SamIAm's topic in Amps and Cabs
Are you sure you’re not distorting the input with too much signal gain ? That can sometimes sound like a rattle etc ! ? -

Arriving today hopefully!! Decided the Vintera 50’s PBass is my perfect fit ( already have the Dakota Red one ) If the new series is as good then I will be very pleased Further reports upon arrival today -
I agree but a set of new decent roundwounds and you will hear a better sounding bass immediately Not sure what the stock factory gauge is but I suspect 45-105 nickel plated long scale would suffice

Make sure you understand the “ shape button feature” it makes a huge difference to a good sound or a buried sound with a band !!
-
I guess what you really want to know is when are you ready to play in a band. Playing in a band is very different to playing along to recorded songs or learning tab etc it requires other skills that you don’t learn until you play with other musicians. Choose what kind of band you would like to play in and learn 3 or 4 good covers and then look on JMB for band buddies and off you go !! I would say with regular practice 3 -6 months is plenty of time to be good enough to start something

I don’t think Ashdown come on here these days ! Im fairly sure if it’s wider then it would have been an amp pulled out of a combo.

How About A Sneak Preview, Where Are You Playing on NYE ?
BassAdder60 replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
As a punter I would be right miffed if the party entertainment ended at 11:30 or earlier and packed up. NYE folks is to celebrate going into .. yep you’ve guessed it the NEW YEAR !! 😄 Bands should play at least to stroke of midnight or have alternative music etc until midnight -
100W Stoneham valve amp - small footprint, lighter weight

How About A Sneak Preview, Where Are You Playing on NYE ?
BassAdder60 replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
Yes of course but isn’t it traditional for entertainment to run into 2024 to see in the new year ?? That’s the whole point of a NYE gig surely ?? Last gig I did on NYE we played in total for 4 hours 9pm to 1pm and that was typical of many venues -

Surely that doesn’t count as a NYE gig as you havnt played into 2024 ? I thought that was the normal for venues ?? -
In the past it was this But now it’s this ! I seem to have a thing for heavy weight and valves !!

For all my class D heads I put a black rubber beer spill mat on my cab similar to the one below Works perfectly

Who's finally happy with their rig?
BassAdder60 replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Happy with this rig .. best sound ever -
I found that using the Shape On with a pick fantastic but finger style it pulled too many mids to be useable in a band I also found that not using shape but pulling out 340hz made it sound nicer and used to rotary mids boosted and 1.2khz boosted for clarity No mud just deep clear full bass

Wireless system - Lekato, Boss or something else?
BassAdder60 replied to ots's topic in General Discussion
I used my Shure GLXD16+ right near to the venues wireless router and zero issues !! Very impressed but then it should be good at that price !! -
Wireless system - Lekato, Boss or something else?
BassAdder60 replied to ots's topic in General Discussion
Yep you’re right .. it’s more for live work than home. Lekato or Boss dongle style would definitely suffice. A caution though as a few of us have had signal distortion from the low cost units ( not all but some even on passive basses ) this might of just been poor component quality ? -

Shure GLXd16 + Excellent quality device -
I had one for a few months and I liked it. The compressor was superb ( optical ) which added a valve tone with grit Simple EQ and a loud amp Incidentally I tried a mk2 Terror bass head and it went straight back just couldn’t get a tone out of it I liked ! Many rave about them though ! LBT is a very capable amp
