  1. Good plan .. if you made an eBay bid you can retract it ( EBay website not the App ) You made the right decision
  2. Personally I would avoid that cab as it will be under rated and sound terrible if pushed to be heard. There are many better cabs out there, this isn’t one of them in my opinion. As it’s a 4ohm cab you can’t add a second cab either so potentially a waste of your money. I would seek out one of the low cost Laney or Ashdown cabs in 8ohm format rated to 300w per cab
  3. Like so many of us I have quit, sold all my gear and decided I was done with band life. Without a band I saw little point in playing the bass ! Then after a few years break you get the urge to play again Around the age of mid fifties I said I would be done with bands by the time I reach 60 ( just seemed beyond that I would be too old ) Im now 63 and play in the best band for fun I’ve ever experienced and it’s the people I’m fortunate to be with make it what it is. While I have good health I will carry on and review it when I’m 66 !!
  4. Ashdown Neo cabs or RM series ?
  5. Although I agree but a decent lightweight 2x 12 4 ohm cab is all you need but the challenge is getting a reasonably priced lightweight cab. Two small 1 x12 8 ohm cabs are easier for carrying if you find a decent make / model Everything is relative to what each person considers a weight to carry as acceptable. My Ampeg SVT212AV cab is 30kg approx and it’s an easy carry if you are strong but I wouldn’t want to carry it up flights of stairs ! At the end of the day the budget will determine how good and how light
  6. If you get a 500w ( choose wisely as some are not loud for claimed 500w) and add a single 8ohm cab you will get around max 250w power. Just about enough to gig with if it’s a decent cab. Or buy a single 4ohm cab and get the full head power which if 500w would be ample to gig with A decent cab (4ohms ) or two (8ohm) cabs will make the world of difference My advice is get the largest you can comfortably carry. Go too puny and most sound boxy and struggle unless it’s high end stuff
  7. Mine … TUNER Shure GLXD16+ Wireless / Tuner - awesome in every way COMPRESSOR Ampeg Opto Comp - simple low cost and it works well DRIVE / EQ TC Spark Booster - legendary tone and simple EQ Adds an extra input push into my V4B tube amp
  8. Boss GEB-7 EQ pedal in good condition I removed the rubber base to pop velcro on it but I will include it in the box Price includes shipping to U.K. address
  9. I have had my last two new basses arrive in slightly under perfect condition. As I gig mine I’m happy to accept but it’s frustrating when they turn up marked. Thats how they leave the factory in some cases
  10. I’m 63 !
  11. I never have problems carry my rig ( same cab and head ) Yep it’s heavy but it’s worth it !!
  12. I play Rebel Yell and find fingers are better for a fuller sound Tried with a pick many times but always missed that deep full fundamental of each note Sadly I tried many different amps and pedals before getting a rig that worked for me
  13. Ok .. nobody replied so I will add my experience with the MG800 They are lovely amps and the build quality is fantastic. EQ and tone are very well designed and it’s a very versatile amp. It will run down to 2.67 ohms too as an added bonus
  14. Just curious to how frequently folk change their power tubes ? Mine is still virtually new but I gig it twice a month and use it once a week at rehearsals. Whats the general consensus? Yearly ? Never ?
  15. Simple but they just work 👍
  16. 412 ? Didn’t think they sold a 4x12 !
  17. I still look after it but carrying the load of gear isn’t a problem . I’m a big strong guy and never struggle, when I do it’s time to stop playing !
  18. At 63yrs old I’m pleased I don’t have any back problems or mobility issues That’s why I still lug the SVT212AV cab and V4B around to gigs while I still can !!
  19. I’m a user of the Ampeg Opto Comp and I really like it It has a warm tone ( a bit valve amp vibe ) and it works very well I’ve tried a few such as Keeley, Boss, MXR, TC, but I keep coming back to the Opto Comp Great price too
  20. I don’t think the weight is an issue ( for most able bodied ) but granted some might struggle lifting and carrying it far !! For me it’s worth it purely for the sound !!
  21. On my second Ampeg V4B head and for a 100w all valve amp it’s the nicest amp I’ve ever used in my band. There is something about the fullness and warmth of the amps tone that nothing seems to come close. And it’s a loud amp .. we are a loud rock band and my V4B never struggles for volume ( not using the PA ) Amazing amps, simple EQ and looks great on the matching SVT212AV cab
  22. I agree .. I tried the Ampeg PF500 and felt it was very light on power The Elf is a loud amp for a class D and useable EQ and decent built in compressor
  23. Nope unfortunately it’s 4ohms like the Elf
  24. Yep 4ohms min is the usual on most class D or A/ B amps apart from a few such as Aguilar, Mesa, Genzler etc that can go to 2.67 or even 2ohms !
  25. I used mine with my 4ohm SVT212AV cab and it was plenty loud enough for a loud rock band !
