Ok update … having found the Lekato adding a tiny bit of distortion I’ve stopped using them. Enter Boss WL-50 and although it’s half of the WL-20 I really like it so far. What I’ve learnt is switch your mob to Airplane mode if near your amp and for practical use stay within 10-15m with clear line of site it works just fine without any signal degradation The bonus of cable input on the receiver was the feature that decided it for me, cable sat near rig will suffice as backup. I was finding my guitar leads were twisting, constantly under my feet and on occasion stood on nearly yanking at the Jack so wireless is worth it I feel. I can’t justify £500+ on Shure so Boss will do for me

Yes I agree but mine’s permanently on so it doesn’t matter in my application
-
Naturally it depends on the amp you’re using it with My Ashdown and Aguilar both have bass at 40hz so I can accept not having it on the MXR

I like the MXR 6 band .. I think you purchased yours after my glowing report. For me it gives me the extra EQ points that most amps don’t so I can set it for the best sound live. I now only play with a pick either my Jazz or PBass but never both during the same gig. I have my preferred MXR EQ settings saved as an image on my phone so easy to set up if sliders get moved I think anything more complicated for me would result in constant tweaking etc

I dont care what the original bass line is.

I seldom play any song exactly as written. -
Look at the Helicon foot pedal series for vocalists

Well .. it’s arrived and it’s on my board and quickly tested Sounds good without any tone suck or wireless distortion and nice and neat design So far I’ve learnt not to push the WL-T fully home when not using ( runs battery down ) and keep a cable nearby just in case !!

the Behringer Feedback Destroyer worked for a singer that always struggled with volume and feedback when trying to boost her vocals. It was an amazing bit of kit that killed off offending frequencies and allowed you to increase the volume and non offending frequencies to gain better volume Cost around £200 in rack format

I had used the WL-20 a couple of years ago but decided to sell them ( idiot ) Now I’m using a pedalboard I thought the WL-50 would make sense. If money was no object I would of got the new Shure system but that’s serious money. My cheap Lekato definitely distorted the signal slightly so I’m pleased to hear the WL-50 is decent. I have a tendency to stand on my lead when gigging and or find it wrapped around my leg !! Looking forward to popping it on my board and powering it from my isolated power supply

Any users of the Boss WL-50 can tell me if any signal distortion in the system ? Im hoping not as I plan to buy one as fed up tripping over my lead at gigs !

Yep we do the same and it stays mostly clean and crease free

Tab / music theory etc is very important but it can hurdle you at the start as not to make any musical progress. Decide why you want to play ? Is it to jam at home, with buddies or perhaps later a band ? I think a simple low tech low cost device for home is below costing around £30.00 Using something like Ultimate Guitar App for tabs you can make very quick progress learning simple songs etc I learnt years ago not to over complicate learning music and how to play. It’s a physical / emotional connection to the instrument that makes you initially a player and from there you can add more theory if it’s important. Teachers will say it is and if you’re sight reading music score then it’s very important. To get down and rock out you need to focus on the physical side of making music

The Flex picks are more warmer and less clicky but not quite Nylon in tone. Better than Tortex in my opinion

How to wire Jazz bass with series/Parallel switch.

I gigged the set up last weekend and it’s the best sound I’ve had. Better than both my PBass I was close to giving up on my Jazz bass but now it’s my first choice I play in a loud rock band .. think AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Queen etc etc -

Yes I was using my ABM600 head, mostly flat EQ, bass boosted ( 40hz ) a little As pick playing brings out a high in mids tone I found that backing off 400hz really added to the depth of tone. It doesn’t get buried in the band mix and sounds great. I wouldn’t do that fingerstyle of course !! -
Micro-amps - which has the quietest fan?
BassAdder60 replied to Bass Culture's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have the ELF and it’s quite noisy for home use ( fan I mean ) Best thing I did recently was to buy the VOX Amplug 2 Bass headphone amp. For approx £35 it’s even got a drum machine ( basic ) built in !! Plugs into your bass and it’s battery powered and using headphones you can practice at home without annoying anyone!!! -

Yep our vinyl backdrop is heavy too

Ok folks .. for the weekend warriors amongst us who gig at pubs and clubs how do you suspend your band backdrop ? We have a backdrop stand and bar but this takes approx 30cm of stage distance moving the drummer out further ( not ideal ) Any tips for hanging a vinyl large band backdrop to a venue wall for the duration of the gig ?

Wow … I found a great tone with the Jazz bass … not fingerstyle but a pick and running both pups on full and the MXR EQ pedal to boost lows and cut mids. Best sound ive had live so far
