  1. Hi the SVT3 Pro isn’t a full valve power amp, the tubes are preamp only so no biasing needed As folk have said boosting the graphic EQ slider up boosts the output volume and should add drive ( the drive comes from the input gain etc ) You should get decent clean sound out of it and even a underpowered 450w should be very loud for gigging needs My small TE Elf (200w) can be very loud when pushed so the SVT is more than capable but the secret is the EQ slider vol boost .. That increases output volume by a huge amount if I recall
  2. I had one and found it under powered for it’s claimed wattage. It needs the graphic EQ master raised ( boosted ) to get more from it but many have said it’s not a very loud amp. Shame as it’s a gorgeous sounding amp
  3. Just ordered the Harley Benton one Hopefully should be ok 👍
  4. I’m looking for a pedal board power supply rated at 500mA on at least one output isolated outputs for say 4 pedals tops Less than £100 if possible and a quiet supply too Will be going on a Metro 20 board I saw the Fender one ( engine room ) but it’s out of stock
  5. What’s with all the foam around the ABM600? Do BF cabs vibrate that badly ??
  6. GLWYS .. great guy to deal with and I can confirm it’s a fantastic cab too especially as it’s rated to 500w !
  7. What was the Magellan amp like ? Its been on my radar since running a 2.67 total cab load with my TH700 They appear to be a decent amp
  8. The noise issue is easily missed, you really have to listen for it when the optical LED changes colour ( release ) there is a tiny crackle of sound. You only hear it playing quietly as in a band you would never hear it The guy who had mine used it with IEM and he clearly heard it too hence why I let him have it for free in the end even though he couldn’t really use it !! After three new units from different suppliers I can only think it’s a normal issue or Keeley made a huge batch with a dodgy component or something.
  9. Just saw a bargain Ashdown ABM610 cab for sale in Bristol £200 .. that’s a bargain for someone and a great live rig cab
  10. Yep tried the TC and didn’t like it I don’t really need a compressor I’ve decided !
  11. I gigged my ABM600 through two ABM210H cabs for an outside gig and with some going through our vocals PA ( we have subs too ) it was plenty loud enough. Its a balance of normal gigs to “ one offs” and carrying or storing a second cab. I now use Ampeg SVT212AV and SVT112AV cabs together with my TH700 and it’s the same rig for small or large venues with the only difference is some in the PA for outside stuff. Large indoors it’s all from my backline
  12. I had three Keeley Bassist all suffering from an in built design fault where there is digital noise when the compressor releases ( tiny crackle noise ) I assumed it was part of the design and sold it on but even the buyer had the same issue ( I refunded him in full and told him to keep it ) Shame as some claim not to hear it but it’s definitely present and three with the same issue seemed unlikely it was faulty ! Apart from that it was the best compressor I had used
  13. I keep thinking about selling my ABM600 as it’s not used at all since the TH700 arrived However when I try it I’m reminded how great it is. I was recently considering the TE1200 too but decided against it as again it would be hard pressed to beat the TH700 and everything it does so well
  14. I think the OriginAL pedal is close but it is very over priced for what it is. Like you said a true ABM front end pedal with the same EQ and shape and sub / drive with Di would be a clear winner.
  15. Band rehearsals I ran my SGT pedal into the front of the Tone Hammer 700 This sounded as good as any valve amp and in fact better than my old V4B or CTM100 heads. You get power, headroom and warm valve tones plus added “ drive” when required all in a lightweight package For me there is no need to run additional pedals in front of the SGT as the Ampeg provides everything I need and the added Di output For anyone who loves the Ampeg tone but was not blown away by the PF series heads or nervous about shutdowns then the SGT pedal really is like a good Ampeg in a box I’m sure most amps would play nicely with it but the Tone Hammer amps already sound valve like so adding the SGT just makes it a perfect match in my opinion. Decided the cab sims are not needed ( more beneficial for recording ) so I turn them off for my PA Di signal
  16. One bass only and with mostly fresh roundwound strings on it.
  17. I can confirm if you switch the cab sims mode to off the whine virtually disappears. Im going to run my SGT as the only pedal so not an issue for me. It’s very quiet powered on its own
  18. I actually found my Jazz has a lower bass tone with better high mids ( using neck pup and bridge turned down. PBass is heavy in the low mids 200-400hz but lacking in high mids or that’s my discovery using roundwounds Naturally some of this changes if pick playing but this is based on fingerstyle
  19. I find with a PBass that 1.2khz boost adds to clarity
  20. I even tried various Pick Up upgrades on my PBass as I wanted just a little more clarity. Best was the Fender Original 62 and to be honest it was a minor improvement on the stock pups I find using the Ampeg SGT-DI before my amp allows for extra EQ adjustments that is fitting very well with my PBass tone Just got to like the Jazz in a similar way .. I’m getting close and like both in different ways but both have great sounds that just work well in a band mix
  21. I’m the reverse .. finding it hard to use my Jazz bass when I have two decent PBass to choose from
  22. Don’t daisy chain other pedals off the supply to the SGT-DI as it doesn’t like it ( feint whine ) If you have a decent isolated power supply for pedals it’s fine but daisy chain and it’s not happy. I know daisy chaining is frowned upon but I thought it’s worth saying !! Just played my Jazz through it and small EQ tweeks had it sounding like a PBass with a touch of added clarity The SGT circuit adds a warm tone and a very full tube like gritty tone. This sounds as good as my old V4B and CTM100 except without the weight !!
