Been there and tried a Stingray but didn’t find it the solution. It was only a Ray34 but it was lacking for what I needed. Shame because I liked the Stingray for playability.

A lot has changed since I posted this !! My CTM100 has gone and I’ve purchased a Jazz Bass !! Im finding so far an advantage I think in as much the Jbass has more upper mids which I couldn’t squeeze out of the PBass Will see how it fits with the band at rehearsals!!

Saw one in ( Jazz ) PMT Northampton for £1100 approx but wasn’t keen on the No pickguard look I’m sure it’s a quality bass though

So … having purchased my first Jazz bass I’m looking for hopefully a good result with my rock band … Using my PBass with fingers ( I have finger technique that produces a soft warm sound ) I always felt my tone was very deep and heavy low mids but lacked definition Played with a pick was better for definition but lacked depth. I’m hoping the Jazz bass with add better definition with more high mids played finger style Fingers crossed hey !!

Yes I think the player plus has a tort pickguard

I love the tone out of the ELF and mine is for backup to my band playing rock Through enough speakers you can easily gig with it Don’t forget it comes with a small gig bag ( keeps it scratch free ) Fan is loud but for a gigging amp that doesn’t matter Highly recommended and worth its price in my opinion

Having used my Player Series PBass with stock pick up I always felt it was lacking in clarity and the low E was a bit boomy without definition. So after trying Fender CS62 and Dimarzio ( both ok but not for me ) I fitted the Fender Original 62 pickup ( claimed to be more vintage with average output ) The result is good, less boomy, better clarity and balanced sounding. A nice upgrade I think for this bass playing rock

I think in my case it’s the pickguard pushing it over slightly I’ve filed a 1mm / 2mm off the leading edge and it fits over the pickup better without nudging it over slightly Now they look parallel to the bass body 👍

Just replaced my stock PBass pickup from my Player series Fitted the Fender Original PBass pup ( not the CS62 ) and all went well but a question ?? How critical is the pickup sideways lean ? Ie viewed from the playing angle, mine ( due to pickguard ) is leaning slightly back towards the bridge. This isn’t the string to pole angle you see when viewed from bridge to headstock ( I’ve set that correctly to ear and approx 3mm pole piece to string underside when fretted last fret ) The angle that may or may not be that crucial is the “ parallel to body” when looking at pickup from playing view What’s your thoughts ?? By the way the pickup is nice and a bit clearer than the player stock with better mids and less boomy sounding

Really like mine although it sits in my gig cable case 99% of the time !

Sold my Keeley Bassist pedal to James, smooth transaction and trusted buyer

It only started doing it when I changed the bridge to a Fender HiMass so I think it’s the bridge saddle or spring vibrating perhaps. More noticeable on fretted notes especially around 12th fret and higher
-
Similar but I think that’s the 404BO bridge .. the one I’ve ordered is 201-B that doesn’t have the string loading slots across the back section

I’ve got Fender Hi Mass bridges on my PBass basses which I mostly like but …, On one bass the G string has a tiny vibrating tone that appears to be caused by the HiMass bridge This isn’t just normal string tone but something in addition to the string ringing. I think it might be the saddle itself but I’m not sure ? Anyway I’ve ordered the Gotoh 201B-4 to try as it looks like the saddles are better and still in keeping with the HiMass style. Any users of Gotoh and opinions ?? Please don’t suggest option C ie every other kind of alternative as I know they exist as does the basic bent plate style that were removed as the grub screws would always work loose. Im curious if the Gotoh is decent

Doesn’t it do that automatically? Ive just looked and it’s showing feedback ? Or is it somewhere else you are suggesting for the link ?? Any help in that regard would be appreciated 👍

A huge advantage too .. the TH700 will run into 2.67 ohms so for 4ohm cabs with 8 ohm cab works a treat or perhaps 3 x 8ohm cabs !!

You are most welcome Rich 👍 Ive left you feedback too ( good of course ) !!

Sold my Ashdown cab to Rich and it was a pleasant sale. Rich is a lovely guy and a trusted buyer Thankyou

Thanks guys 👍

The ToneHammer isn’t really a clean hi Fi sounding amp and the AG700 does that well. However you can get close by turning gain very low and boosting master volume .. naturally you lose overall amp volume but with 700w it’s still very useable. Even with gain at 12 o’clock it’s more clean than dirty, very tube amp sounding
