  1. Earlier this year I was about to quit playing / gigging but I did start up with a new band and I felt it was worth one more go. Last month I quit that band and I think I’ve decided I’m going to sell up and enjoy watching / listening to others and stop playing. I have a lot of gear to sell which folk on here could pick up some bargains I will be listing it all and the collection of amps, basses and gear is substantial!! I’ve enjoyed it in the past but I really can’t get my mojo back and at 64yrs old I don’t feel I need to get my fix anymore. End of an era but I’m happy and slightly relieved that I am no longer sitting on the fence thinking shall I or not !!
  2. Think about the kind of band / songs you would like to play Write out a list of 20 popular typical pub gig songs and play along to them at home even if it’s close until you feel you have a group of songs you could jam to. Practice playing standing up ( a must ) and soon you will be good enough to look for a starter band and then go for it ! Self belief is important and mostly make sure you enjoy what you do Band bassists doesn’t = best bassist ! It means they can play good enough with others !

    NAD Elf

I kept one in my gig bag as a backup amp if my V4B valve amp failed Loud enough to gig with using a 212 4ohm cab
  4. I quit the band I was in this week as I couldn’t put up with the disorganised chaos!! I spent 3months with the wrong guys learning a new set but the penny dropped and I thought get out and find a better band ! I guess a lesson learnt don’t waste your time in the wrong band !! Im excited about a new opportunity though and it already feels the right thing. How many of you have joined and then realised you just don’t gel with your band buddies !! ??
  5. That’s a beauty for sure 👍
  6. use a footswitch or leave them all flat if preferred but there isn’t a button to turn off
  7. The ABM600 input needs to be high too if you want more drive as well as maxing the drive control ! Mine had plenty but I did fit a new JJ83S preamp tube in it so perhaps that helped ?
  8. Thanks Stevie Yes it’s had limited use and always been looked after
  9. I think I can just about get any sound from it with its versatility and comprehensive EQ features. It really does it all and all of it very well
  10. I would describe the Ashdown tone as warm and slightly vintage sounding but with lots of tweeks can be made more modern sounding. It suits most genres and has authority to its notes that gets better as you push it harder Leave the dreaded SHAPE feature off as it smothers the tone too much
  11. I can play it and gave gigged it using two fingers ( challenging) or a pick Pick with palm muting works well Takes practice but it’s achievable
  12. This arrived over the weekend and I thought I would offer my thoughts. Quality build and feel, probably the best in any amp I’ve owned. Size / Weight is ideal as not too large so will fit small and large width cabs and heavy enough not to easily move on your cab. Features: wow they have thought of everything you are going to need Superb EQ adjustments HPF adjustable Power Amp Damping control ( from tight and modern to loose and full valve amp feel Ability to run at 2ohms Quiet Fan Powerful and Loud Plus more ! Ive had so many amps in the last five years and I always felt they were good and acceptable but had something missing. My best sounding amps have been SVT CL and V4B but way too heavy and large now. The WD800 has a valve pre amp, power amp can feel like a valve amp when playing and the ability to drive the input to get a bit of valve breakup is awesome. This and my EICH T900 and hopefully my forever amps until the itch for change comes which hopefully is never !!
  13. The two Vintera basses I had would be very difficult to adjust without undoing the neck bolts and tilting. However I found the neck to be very stable when set and never needed further adjustment
  14. Ampeg SVT112AV 300w 8 ohm cab with tweeter Excellent condition and includes a cover Large rubber feet fitted to end so it can be used tall or on its base Light cab and looks and sounds great Price includes U.K. shipping
  15. Hi folks Any users of the WD800 on here and how you rate it compared to say other top end class d amps ? Does it lack in anything particular or is it about as good as it gets without going for a full valve amp ?
  16. Ashdown RM800 EVO II 800w bass amp Like new condition , purchased direct from Ashdown a few months ago before they discontinued the model. It’s not being used so selling it to fund a new amp For UK courier shipping add £12.00
  17. Interesting I thought that about the CTM100 Having purchased a second V4B I will say the Ampeg was better by quite a way. Awesome sounding amp and loud for 100w I miss mine but I don’t miss the size and weight of it !
  18. Here’s my Monaco 👍
  19. Most folk don’t use the SUB feature as it’s tracking isn’t great I’m sure it’s working correctly from how you described it
  20. Sub should only work if the Sub control is not fully anticlockwise I would check that first
  21. Purchased this from Ashdown direct when they were selling off the last remaining stock Price includes U.K. courier shipping
  22. Mark purchased my Vintera II PBass and the transaction went very smoothly Recommended bass chatter 👍
