I’m using the EICH T900 900w amp It’s very nice and easy to get a great sound out of it and the “ taste control” allows on the fly modern to vintage flavour if preferred!
-
Looks and sounds like a fabulous amp. I’ve gone down the clear/clarity and punch road with my amp choices now

No it’s not a “ law” it’s just a more recognisable way of a starting point instead of everything in the front end ! Placement of fx pedals is a personal choice but there are well known reasons that delay or time based fx sound better after drive but you can place them however you see fit ! 😉 -

The way to do it is as already mentioned ie time based fx like chorus delay or reverb sound better in the fx loop Drive and compressor in front of amp Amp FX loop is designed for that reason ie FX in the loop after the amp input and any drive and compression Musicians have been gigging like this for years especially guitarists who prefer an amps drive sound Try it both ways and decide but with a clean bass amp I don’t think you will hear much difference -
Yep I tried hard with my PBass and switched from fingers ( reduced clarity ) to pick ( reduced fullness ) The Ray just gives me the depth and clarity with fingers to be my perfect fit

Yes the plan is to use the Ray34 as backup to the USA Stingray They are both close to 10lbs in weight so not lightweight but I’m ok playing that weight for gigs. They sound and feel very similar in fact in a band you wouldn’t tell the difference at all. I wasn’t planning on getting the EB Musicman Stingray but after playing the Ray34 I discovered that I’m definitely a Ray guy so my PBass basses will be sold off soon. I just love the clarity, depth and zing of the Ray and for me the necks are very PBass like so that works too. I can recommend the Ray 34 as a great choice but if you can find a secondhand EB Ray at a good price go for it !

And the store has found its case so that’s coming too ! Im super pleased with this and happy to be back with a USA Ray

Found this 2001 Musicman Stingray bass in Blue Pearl 3EQ and I’m very pleased with the condition for a 23yr old bass ! Neck, frets, rosewood fingerboard all in a near new condition ! Fresh 45-100 strings fitted and truss rod tweeked and intonation checked and she’s good to go as my main gigging bass Plays and sounds amazing and it was a sensible price too No EB Musicman case but such is life but it came with a serviceable gig bag ( and since typing this case has arrived too .. thank you GAK )

Beautiful bass .. you must be very pleased 👍

Yep the service and support by Ashdown is first class They often support their products outside of warranty too especially if you visit in person and take a pack of biscuits for Dave !!
-
Yep the 3EQ was what I had in the 90’s and now of course, I prefer this having the mid control 👍

I was always struggling with tone with my PBass played fingerstyle and just felt I didn’t have “ that sound” I had in the past and it’s obviously down to the Ray as the improvement in clarity with the active EQ just works better for me. Pickup placement too feels more comfortable. I do love a PBass for it’s simplicity of great sounds but for me the Stingray takes it further

I just find the clarity and depth fingerstyle better and the neck is very PBass like in feel

About 20yrs ago I was regularly gigging with a USA Musicman Stingray bass and Ampeg rig Sold it all off when the band folded and I had a ten year break from playing bass ( everything sold ) I returned and started playing Fender PBass and I thought this was my perfect bass however I’ve discovered that I’m really still a Stingray guy and I’ve found a secondhand USA Stingray in Blue Pearl virtually the same as my original bass !! I’m converted back to playing a Ray Im already selling my Vintera II on here and my American Performer will soon be listed too Picture of incoming bass and 20yrs ago gigging my Ray with Ampeg 610 and SVT CL head !

Good questions ! In fact it’s the fact that the stock Ernie Ball 45/100 sound so good and I thought it would have 45-105 fitted ! Just curious what other Ray34 users were using so not unhappy although I’ve read EB strings lose their zing quickly ?

Mine is new ( also from the last sell off batch ) and it doesn’t flash red Nor did one I had about 3yrs ago I wouldn’t worry as it’s not even stated in the manual it has one !!

He’s blown a fuse 😂

I was told that the drive, EQ etc all effect the input signal and often you need to cut the input level if boosting drive of EQ This was from Dave Green himself and I think there are various ways to do it but keeping a healthy input signal without it being in the red too much is key

PMT have one in stock for a decent price under your budget

My new RM800 has a a few seconds before becoming active There are no tubes in the RM so I guess it’s by design or waiting for the fan to start perhaps hence why older units are taking longer ?
