  1. I had the Orange LBT and it’s a nice amp but I moved it on ( nothing wrong with it but fancied a change ) warm and clean sounding amp and very loud
  2. Left the site a few months ago ( don’t ask ) but I’m back and looking forward to great Basschat banter So what’s new …, I sold my GK Legacy 800 and decided to use 100% my Ashdown ABM600 In front of this I’m running the Sansamp Bass Driver v2 which warms things up nicely for pick playing. Nearly tempted to buy a CTM100 but was concerned with lack of power, nearly tempted to buy the ABM750 ! Thank you to Ashdown for their help and offers About to add a Nano big muff pedal and that’s me up to date !!
  3. Yeah right 🤔😆 Thanks for all your valuable advice guys .. it’s been interesting!!
  4. Having learnt that a Precision Bass is my preferred instrument and passive too I’m considering on looking at an additional new bass I have the Fender Player series at present all stock apart from an upgraded bridge. It’s a nice bass Are the Performer series worth the extra price and why ?
  5. I have to move a bit around my available space as standing still doesn’t get me in the vibe of the song or performance !
  6. Using a standard Tortex 1mm blue pick using the rounded corner has added more depth to the sound Will try tonight and see how it sounds full tilt with the band
  7. I’ve been there and quit and sold all my gear. It wasn’t the answer The solution was finding the right people to play with in a band who become your buddies too. Im 62 and enjoy playing good old rock classics and new rock and the audience don’t seem to care about band age. We do have a younger super fit female singer that has an amazing voice and that helps a lot Take a short break and maybe find new people to gig with
  8. I loved my V4 but wasn’t loud enough for me in the band context. It was always running nearly flat out and overdriven of course so great for rock but less versatile for other genres in the band
  9. I have my GK Legend sitting on top of my ABM600 head ready to swop over if any issues. The GK is light so it sits on a rubber mat on the ABM600 so it doesn’t move. Feel so much happier having backup I use wireless but always put a guitar lead by my rig just in case
  10. I can play equally well pick or fingers There is a tone I love playing with a pick yet with the band ( in particular against the drums ) I have found the pick tone is without roundness and depth that fingers give you. I think I might be getting close and need to get my old finger tone out of my head so as to accept the pick tone and get on and use it live with the band.
  11. But I like the dynamics using a pick just miss the depth of tone
  12. Still seeking the tone from pick playing on my PBass and I have a question ? I miss the fullness of tone that I get finger style so the question is with a pick should I just 1: dial back the tone control 2 : increase the bass on my amp I’m sure I’ve tried this but maybe not enough extra bass and backing off the tone control Why do I still seek pick playing, speed of playing and it just suits the rock style better
  13. Sterling Musicman Stingray Ray34 bass in black gloss Purchased new in May 2022 Very good condition and complete with Sterling gig bag Shipped within U.K. possible at buyers arrangement/ expense Possible trade for Fender Jazz or PBass in equal condition
  14. That’s disappointing and I bet Ashdown would of put that right I use wireless with my ABM600 and it’s excellent
  15. Main issue was finding hanging points etc etc The stand idea results in a solution for any venue 👍
  16. Hi .. yes it was a direct swop and works well. It’s the second one I purchased ( first one had brass saddles but came without pre slotted saddles ) The zinc / chrome was spot on out of the pack even the intonation was pre set and spot on. Great upgrade that looks classy and works better than the stock
  17. In the past we tied our band backdrop to the venue assuming tie points were available Ive now found a more practical solution using a photography screen stand It has two telescopic adjustable leg supports and a top pole ( backdrop is threaded on pole ) You can then raise up your backdrop easily to the desired height etc behind the drums. Modern and low cost solution as the stands / top bar cost £30 !
