  1. Another good tip … The input gain level is heavily influenced by the EQ settings, the Drive settings etc My Ray 34 still uses the non active input and I adjust the input level down a bit compared to my PBass The ABM600 sounds it’s best when played loud and has a weight to the sound that you don’t get with the RM series, a true gigging loving amp Roqsolid do a nice amp cover if looking Enjoy
  2. Great Amp / Rig They have a lot of EQ variation and play nicely with most styles At home the Shape OUT sounds lovely but can get a bit lost in a band mix unless you boost the main mid control I found Shape IN ( off ) was the best live sound and sounded great with my ABM210H ported cabs
  3. Might be tempted to sell my FS-4 as never use it and it’s like new
  4. BF SuperTwin isn’t wide enough so won’t be considering that option
  5. I think the Orange LBT is going to be sold to a pal of mine. This leaves me the V4B and ABM600 to use as and when
  6. Indeed, a dilemma choosing gear for the right job. The ABM600 sounds good through the SVT212AV cab but the two Ashdown cabs stacked are higher and easier to hear on stage. As you say both cabs are weighty but the SVT212AV is one lift only instead of carrying in two cabs. The best I guess would be two SVT212AV cabs ( both with the V4B ) or one with the ABM600
  7. I think next rehearsal is a better plan and hear how they fair The two Ashdown cabs sound very good with the ABM600 head so I would imagine the V4B would sound good too.
  8. Be interesting what a V4 sounds like with two Ashdown cabs
  9. Folk who know me on here are aware I have Ashdown ABM600 with two ABM210H compact cabs ( nice rig ) Ampeg V4 B plus SVT212AV ( great rig ) Orangel Little Bass Thing ( back up amp ) Ok so if I was looking to thin the herd and minimise my cab stock which rig would you change and why ? im happy with all of them but aware not all work with each other ie SVT212AV is 4ohm the two ABM210H are 8 ohms each Practicality of transported rig in large car is a consideration ( cant get all three cabs in as example ) Typical gigs pubs, clubs and outside events Not tried the V4B with the Ashdown cabs so not sure if that would sound better than the SVT212AV cab ? The V4B is amazing and definitely a keeper !
  10. They are taking about 4 weeks to make at the moment
  11. We are booked to do a gig using Concur for payment
  12. With the EQ set flat on the Ray it sounds “ similar “ to my PBass but a little more punch. Better clarity too The Ray34 is like a PBass on steroids !
  13. I think if it included U.K. shipping it would be sold
  14. Won’t be selling this for a long time 👍
  15. That’s handy to know 👍 Maybe that’s the more sensible route
  16. I’ve tried and there really is no substitute for a tube / valve amp at full tilt !!
  17. Go for the V4 B plus SVT212AV cab Great rig and if you need more volume add a second SVT212AV But .. I noticed you want light so Ampeg SCR-DI with Quilter 800 head 👍
  18. Having recently purchased the Ampeg V4B I’m really liking the valve tone for my band rock stuff and appreciate how great they sound. Trouble is once you get a taste of all tube amps it’s hard to enjoy other non tube amps. My current dilemma is the V4B and SVT212AV cab is for small gigs The Ashdown ABM600 rig for medium to large gigs My Orange LBT is purely backup but I have plans to sell it. Is it the SVT CL tempting me away from the Ashdown ABM600 or is that just crazy as although 300w is great OMG it’s 80lbs in weight !! I love the V4B so maybe PA support is the answer for larger gigs ? Naturally I have limits to what cabs I can load into the car so no plans to add more cabs
  19. What doesn’t help Ashdown is the constant changing of designs using similar model designations ABM cabs as example Finding reviews just on the cabs is hard going !
  20. Ah that makes sense … It must be wired wrong then or the tip wiper isn’t making contact with the Jack That is a very likely diagnosis I reckon yet very odd it works with a stereo lead ? That must mean the tip is making contact so perhaps the inner contact isn’t connecting engaging the powered preamp This all assumes a good battery is fitted and connected!
  21. I’ve used my Ray34 at rehearsals with my Ampeg V4B and it’s a lovely combination for rock The Ray34 neck feels similar to my PBass and just has more grunt compared to the excellent PBass ( which I will still use ) I don’t see it’s any less a full fat EBMM Stingray and although circa £1000 it’s a very decent bass and I couldn’t see myself paying £2K + for the American EBMM The set up out of the box was spot on and only needed new strings which I’m using 45-100 pure nickel Fender Running the 3 band mostly flat sounds very nice and it allows small tweaks where you want a brighter tone ( punk ) or more mellow tone .. rock Ballard etc Superb bass
  22. The two versions of Jack sockets one above is mono ( what you should have ) and stereo the one you don’t want ! However a mono lead should work if someone connected to the end wiper contact but I suspect it’s wired to the first wiper stereo connection hence why your mono lead doesn’t work
  23. Somebody must of changed the Jack on the bass It should be possible to either re-solder the Jack to the correct mono connection or swop the Jack socket completely I would imagine the wrong Jack socket is fitted or wired incorrectly
  24. Perhaps the previous owner changed the Jack on the Ray 34 ? Its certainly not correct and all your pedals and amps etc will be only looking at a mono connection
