I don’t think they are flying off the shelf for some reason but if they at least sound as good as a PF500/PF800 etc without the shutdown issues then they will be great amps Since Yamaha purchased them I don’t see a lot of groundbreaking designs and the Venture cabs are so over priced

Schroeder/Markbass setup - blown away!
BassAdder60 replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Amps and Cabs
Around 20yrs ago I spoke with Mr Schroeder ( Joerg ?? ) in the USA and he built me a Bass cab ( cannot remember the model ) and at the time i was gigging with either Ashdown or Ampeg amps It was a very different design with the way two speakers were mounted in the cabinet but it sounded huge for its size. I ended up selling it and using an SVT 610 and SVT-CL amp for the most of the time I think he did well in the USA but not much in Europe as it never made it to the more popular stores -
There’s singing and playing and then there’s entertaining and it’s the latter is the must have skill for a frontperson

Year started playing: 1978 Number of basses: 1 ( PBass ) Music theory: 5 Technique: 5 Groove 7 Personally I put more emphasis in fitting my sound to the band / song and less theory and scales etc I think listening is as important as playing IE when not to play !

MarkBass Little Mark IV and MB58R 102 Energy cabs
BassAdder60 replied to BassAdder60's topic in Amps and Cabs
My MB58R 102 Energy arrived and my first reaction was wow how light it is one hand lift of a 2x10 cabinet is possible ! Its nicely built and more robust than I thought ( some reviews say it’s not tough enough but I disagree it’s robust if you take care of your gear ) Looks very smart too and I like the size of it, narrow, very deep and tall enough. 400w RMS rated which is good for a single cab Patiently waiting for my amp to arrive before I can try it out -
Just purchased a MarkBass MB58R 102 Energy cab from GILLY What a decent guy to deal with, transaction was prompt and great ch communication throughout. Cab arrived exactly as described and he added a free Speakon lead too. Highly recommended Basschatter

Thank you .. it was a very dry light brown colour on arrival ( built in 2024 ) and looked awful for a new bass. Its looking very nice now and is lovely to play too

Guitar lemon oil and it really needed it ! I think it’s Jim Dunlop lemon oil for guitars Rosewood goes nice and dark if you apply it, let it soak in and then wipe it down it really makes a difference and protects the wood too

It’s arrived and it’s like an old friend coming home ! Needed setting up, action was very high and the Rosewood fretboard was drier than a nuns chuff ! Anyways fretboard done, frets polished and action set and she’s ready to play

Hopefully the bass amp on its own sounds good, I briefly had the Katana 100 guitar combo and got fed up with the very digital sounding tone and adjustment overload ! People rave about them but I’m too old school to faff around making presets on a laptop etc

Totally agree, find the right and best singer you can even if setlist has to change. Our set went from Alanis Morissette to Iron Maiden !! and lots in between

Town called Malice ! Great bass line

I had a couple of EBS heads 750 and 752 Reidmar Awesome amps and although larger and heavier than some they worked really well

We were a successful female fronted covers band ( rock, pop ) and the girl could sing and more importantly put on a visual show IE she was entertaining for sure. When she was leaving us for personal reasons we tried hard to find a lady who could sing rock but we failed. Most had no projection or power or they didn’t sing well ! Due to the comparison that would be clearly made to the awesome outgoing lady we decided to get a guy to replace her. The result was the band changed so much it was a terrible version of what it was. I left ( who formed the band ) then the guitarist left and only the original drummer remains Sad really how bands go from hero to zero very quickly and mostly it’s down to a change of singer especially if you were blessed with a very good front person who had an amazing vocal range and power. She looked good too !!

MarkBass Little Mark IV and MB58R 102 Energy cabs
BassAdder60 replied to BassAdder60's topic in Amps and Cabs
I will soon be the proud owner of the MB58R 102 Energy instead of the P variant ! 400w rated instead of 300w -
I use lemon oil for fretboards and polish the frets with Nail Buffer Pads. I picked up a few at a shopping centre when out with my young beauty mad daughter. They use them to polish and buff finger nails very gently! On frets they are amazing, do not damage the fretboard and make the fret wire highly polished and smooth !!

Returning to bass and decided pick is for me ( again ) I was watching the Amazon doc about The Jam and I loved Bruce Foxtons tone and playing with a pick of course ! Most likely I will use Toretex Blue Triangle pics this time round on my PBass

Having finished gigging nearly two years ago and selling off all my gear ( mistake number 1 ) I went back to playing guitar ( mistake number 2 ) Jammed with old band buddies and playing guitar I always felt I should be playing bass ! So a decision was made and a new Fender PBass Player II series, and MarkBass rig was put on order and arrives Tuesday ! My guitar stuff is up for sale ( haven’t got room at home for both nor the funds ) so I’m happy to say I’m a bass player again 😃

MarkBass Little Mark IV and MB58R 102 Energy cabs
BassAdder60 replied to BassAdder60's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yeah I had thought if I lacked volume in the future a second cab would be a good plan For now for convenience a one small cab is all I need -
Hey folks I’m interested in anyone who is familiar with or using / have used the MarkBass LM IV amp and MB58R 102 Energy cab ? Do they match well and would they handle jam sessions / gigs ? with a single guitarist and drummer ? I had years back the LM III and the Traveller 102 cab and they sounded nice. I like how light they are in the MBR 102 Energy series and compact
