  1. After recently purchasing this from my fellow basschatter I used the V4B at rehearsals. My concerns about how loud were soon dismissed, these heads for 100W are loud. Its an excellent match to the SVT212AV cab and has a great Ampeg growl / grind tone. The EQ is very easy to work with and I found it was better not using my compression pedal instead go straight in with my bass. Last night I used my Ray34 and the band said it was by far the best sound they had heard from me. Naturally I’m super pleased about this and I suspect this will be my small to medium venue rig and use my ABM600 rig for larger or outside gigs. I ran the master fully open last night on the V4B and used the gain control for volume, sounded great. Tried it today and I think I prefer the master as required and use the gain set around 3pm Also found today I like the Ultra Low ON ( it only boosts the bass a bit and reduces 500hz) but I turn the bass control down a little and crank the 800hz control. This seems to be a sweet spot for the amp, will see how it sounds next week when played louder with the band. Anyone who likes a great rock sound for small to medium sized gigs I can recommend this amp and cab. Better than my ABM600 ( nope ) just different in feel and tone.
  2. In action as it is today
  3. Purchased an Ampeg V4B from Dave Fast and efficient service Top Guy .. thanks Dave
  4. I put the Fender HiMass bridge on it ( perfect fit ) Main reason was the saddle screws on the original bridge would work loose. The HiMass bridge is superb and looks great too Weight of bass isn’t excessive and although I’ve not weighed it I would say between 8-9lbs approx I can gig with it for 3hrs on a standard 2.5” wide strap and it doesn’t make my shoulder ache !
  5. I also put Fender Pure Nickel 45-100 strings on mine 👍
  6. I love mine ( added a HiMass bridge since I took this ) added black pickguard too
  7. Dave purchased a set of RS66LD strings ( new ) He is a trusted buyer and paid quickly Top bloke 👍
  8. I think the Ash bodied variant is often heavier than the black mahogany body version
  9. Do you run your V4B with master fully open and gain adjust for level or a mix of both ? My band is rock so not looking for totally clean but a bit of grind and best volume
  10. Tried them and didn’t like or care for the tone for my rock band
  11. In balance to the Joy of the P / J What do you love about your Stingray ?
  12. Firstly don’t use the compressor on the ABM600 as it drops your volume and sucks tone. I now use the MXR 87 and it works brilliantly with the ABM600 head. I set mine as MXR suggest and raise the MXR output so I just hit the VU meter Red on my loudest notes. The result is a louder amp, more definition and thump and no large peaks to worry the speakers
  13. TC Mojomojo Drive Pedal Well known great drive pedal with bass gear Excellent Condition No original box or manual Price includes U.K. postage
  14. Well folks I’ve purchased the V4B that was for sale on here ( thanks Dave ) Looking forward to using it with my SVT212AV cab
  15. Just weighed it 9.6lbs Slightly more than my PBass The black model has a mahogany body
  16. New bass day Sterling Ray34 in black arrived today and I’m very pleased with it. Nice neck (43mm at nut ) and very good EQ adjustments using the active preamp. Liking the bass on full, mids backed off slightly and treble boosted Very punchy sound
  17. Message sent
  18. Just ordered a Ray34 in black 👍
  19. Very quiet on mine ( comes on as required )

  21. Thanks for the advice guys … as a previous user of the SVT CL head and 610 cab I don’t think I found that any better than my current ABM600 rig for the expected venues I’m sure the V4B is a superb head but it would not give me much more than my ABM600 already provides and the ABM will go louder I think by some way. So in summary I’m going to park any ideas of adding a tube head and be happy with what I already have !
  22. Would either the CTM100 or V4B head into a 212 cab ( 4ohm ) be loud enough without PA support in a loud rock band for small to medium venues ? Im tempted to add one to my collection
  23. Semiconductor global shortage is affecting production on many things ABM600 on sale on eBay if that helps ( not mine lol )
