They are so different to roundwounds and initially look odd to a roundwound user of many years.
For using a pick they seem to be a match and give a warm thump to the tone.
Added advantage I can leave them on for ages !!
First time user of flats on my PBass
Labella 760FL fitted to my player series PBass and Fender 9050L flats fitted to my Squire Classic Vibe Pbass
Less string noise and so smooth and next the tone test
Let’s see how they work with the band
Just ordered La Bella 43-104 flats for my PBass playing rock but now using a pick instead of fingers
I love the pick for speed etc but on roundwounds missed the warm full thump that fingers produce
Hoping these plus pick with an EQ tweek get me the rock tone I’m after
Think Thin Lizzy kind of tone
I know the question of getting pick tone with fingers is often talked about but …
What about getting finger tone while using a pick ?? Possible with EQ ?
Im heading to the studio to record some rock songs and as a finger player who also plays well with a pick wondered if the pick would benefit the recoding if I can get the tone close
I think it also depends on the band.
My band is a three piece plus singer rock band so I have to be heard as if not the guitarist sounds lost and empty during solos etc
Nothing wrong with the Ampeg Opto Compressor, in fact it’s great but ..
I like the idea of nothing between bass lead and amp for the purest signal hitting the amp.
Ive now ditched the Line 6 G30 wireless too
I’m seriously thinking if I really need to use an outboard compressor pedal and my Boss TU3
I am liking the fact it keeps my signal in check on my ABM600 but perhaps if I turn down the input slightly I can ignore the use of a compressor ( acting more as a limiter ) and as I tune up typically twice per session with the band ditch the tuner and use a clip on when not playing ( start of set )
I would still use my Line 6 G30 wireless which I really.
Just a thought do I really need the compressor at all ?
I never slap and play finger style for mostly rock
At least if you buy new ( Squire ) you have a warranty
I’m just upgrading the bridge on mine to the Fender Hi mass bridge which I have on my Player Series.
The bridge is fine on the Squire but I like the style of the HiMass
Could be but some of the older Mex basses were average and no better than Squire.
The advantage I guess is it has Fender on the headstock.
Make sure it’s genuine by checking serial number as there are many fakes around
