  1. I sometimes when playing watch mine and think oh crap it’s gone into the red zone !! I end up turning it down and upping the output volume a little I wouldn’t worry about it and use your ears to judge if clean sounding or distorted Shows up more in low E string or low B string for 5 string players
  2. Search for the older Ampeg BA110 combo as they are very good for the money and home There is also a BA108 which has an 8” speaker which is also decent and low cost The BA110 is the model the Rocket series just replaced so still a newish model but great value
  3. I changed mine on my Players Series PBass and it was night and day better ! Not so much in tone or sustain but that improved ( noticeable as a pick player ) but the saddles do not move or screws undo etc like the original bridge it comes with I used the chrome / brass Fender HiMass which I believe they use on a few of the USA models Easy job and worth doing and they look good too
  4. I’m now 99% pick playing and like Ultex and Tortex picks but recently liking Flex .. they are warmer but not as soft as nylon and not as clicky as Tortex
  5. I’ve also recently found that it’s better to create the Ashdown Scoop sound by not using the Shape OUT ( on ) as the amp is pushing a lot of power through the low end. Its better with Shape IN ( off ) and pulling down the 340hz slider Increase the bass to taste etc This gives you far more EQ control over 9 bands and easier to EQ the room to prevent a boomy sound And as you said it gets / needs to be less bassy as we increase the volume Naturally all this with adjustments to the input gain to stay out of the red
  6. Nice rig .. I have the 210 cabs and they pair very well with my ABM600 At first I thought I should of purchased the ported compact versions but I’m now happy and they work well in my rock covers band. You can carry them in one hand too I got Roqsolid covers made for mine I also place an anti vibration rubber mat on top to stop anything vibrating which helps the lighter RM heads too.
  7. Ashdown service and support are the best ( the U.K. office ) Hope you get it sorted as that would annoy me if my amp did that
  8. It’s definitely not right I think you get 5 years warranty
  9. Well it’s a new 2021 built model so maybe they changed fans or the design
  10. My fans come on after 10-15 mins playing time When both running they are acceptable in loudness In fairness my RM800 is quieter
  11. Yep that doesn’t sound correct at all
  12. Just checked and “10” is very low on the VU You may want to get it checked out as the needle should move across ideally to “0” or into the red just on loudest playing
  13. My RM800 EVO II is set by getting my loudest input level ( set with output turned off ) and the green / yellow light shows and as it hits the red zone I stop increasing. Mine has never shown a red light ! I tend to use my ears to judge if a clean signal and go from there. Recently I asked Ashdown about input signal ( more to do with ABM600 but also RM ) and they said occasional dips into the red zone is fine but not hard over in the red zone all the time !
  14. On the ABM600 the Shape button IN is a flat setting OUT = scooped
  15. We have often mentioned how great a scooped sound is when at home but gets lost in the context of band playing. well … I tried running my ABM600 with Shape button IN ( flat ) and then gradually pulled down the 340HZ slider This gives a really nice tone removing the honk yet leaving the other mid frequencies alone. Anyone else discover that ? Seems to create a deeper tone yet punchy and articulate So many tones you can get from this amp
  16. Yep rock tone not bad but not sure I would run the Sub IN
  17. More learning the great tones from the ABM600 Pulling down the 340hz slider made a good result of filling the sound yet the mid control keeps the mids presence A bit like the “ Shape Out Sound” but not so severe Try it out and see
  18. I did read the older versions were a bit dark and woolly sounding in comparison The complete flat sound of the current model is very nice
  19. My settings that seem to work well I play with a pick so factor that in The EQ flat sound is pretty good, I start there and add a bit more bass and treble .. this works for me … maybe the treble slider isn’t that important as it’s up a tad
  20. If you keep plenty of mids in your amp tone, a touch of Sub Harmonic will make it sound really good too. Better for standard tuning though I find. Problem I find at home is you switch out the Shape button ( ON setting ) and you get that deep full tone that scoops the mids. It sounds amazing but don’t try it with the band as your sound will disappear! The more mid focused or flat EQ sound of the ABM is where the best sound lays and where in the band you get heard
  21. I find that the drive sounds better when the EQ isn’t too bass heavy I saw an Ashdown demo where they cranked the input gain and drive gain for a filthy sound. VU meter needle was permanently in the red !!
  22. Mine came Monday and used last night at rehearsal I will run mine with Shape button IN ( Flat )and EQ nearly flat ( not as image below )
  23. Have you spoken to Ashdown as that doesn’t sound as it should.
  24. Mine is very quiet regarding unwanted noise You sure it’s not the bass pickups adding to the noise ?
