  1. People seem to really like Reaper but it's interface is confusing to me.
  2. Also, when you register your ableton, they have a setup process with demos that will at least show you how to get sound in.
  3. This is relevant to my interests...
  4. Any Mr. Bungle/Fantomas/Secret Chiefs 3 fans here? Trevor Dunn has been my favourite bassist in my favourite for the last 30 years. Such a killer player tonally, groove-wise and avant garde-ily. The songs he and the band were writing at 15-16 are still inspiring the yourh of today. Mr. Bungle is currently touring with Dave Lombardo and Scott Ian in the band. They are only doing very early hardcore tracks, but i am hoping someday for a full reunion (except for the sax playe who killed his wife) This is my all time favourite bassline. Takes a few to kick in.. Some other killer stuff. This is from their first album mostly written as teenagers.
  5. I think its definitely something to consider. I have and decided top up is the way to go.
  6. The freeze function will hold a chord, but you can also build chords using the latching function.
  7. Get a little card machine that works with iphone/android. Hardest part about merch for us currently is finding someone to watch the table. Every show we have to ask someone. And it's not like we're selling a bunch so depending in where the table is, it can br a big ask to sit there all night.
  8. Interesting you're going for top down when you carry in bag. Do you use it in the bag? I always do top up and was wondering if people made different choices for sifferent reasons. I do top up because i dont want to rest on the top jacks. I made a thread on it once, but someone said i was overthinking!
  9. Mate, that is a beautiful bass. I would love to try one.
  10. I have just recently started getting into home recording. All i can currently do is get a signal into my computer and record it. I can add a drum or backing track, but thats my limit so far. I use it to record my bass parts so i dont have to travel to our studio to record. I also use it to annoy basschat members with effects noodling! As above, my setup is a focusrite into ableton lite. Ableton lite comes wtih focusrite. So the focusrite is my interface and ableton is my DAW. I have many DI options, but in this pic im using the DI out of my ampeg pf20t. This is particularly nice because you can run it without a speaker load. So here you can see amp DI out into focusrite scarlett using XLR cable, then the focusrite is connected via USB to my laptop where ableton is installed. I also recently got a two-notes opus so i can do DI recording with many different preamp/poweramp/cab combos. It's pretty amazing, but not necessary to get started. I can plug directly into this and it will connect using XLR to my focusrite. Supercool and compact recording setup It looks complicated, but it couldnt be easier. This also allows me to get the sound i want before i record. I prefer it because im useless with ableton. My producer can do what he wants EQ wise once he has the tracks
  11. No shows this weekend, but wife is down the country, so I'm staying up late with this rig.
  12. Thanks all. Im surprised it is done separately but it does make sense. I will endeavour to sort this out. My buddy recently was able to simultaneously film and record audio directly into his phone using a darkglass element. I thought that was pretty cool. Very slightly out of sync though.
  13. That guy is the best demo-er
  14. Hey all, So ive finally got my recording setup sorted. I feel im able to get very good sound using ableton. How do people get great audio and video? Do they do separately and combine? Are they just using their phone camera for the audio? I dont think so. I dont want to film me, but icwant to be able to film my pedals while playing but still get the good audio. @0175westwood29 any insight? Basically looking to do what you do, but shorter clips and without me on camera!
  15. He was a professor at my uni when i attended.
  16. Thabks so much! I'm still trying to master Andy's feel on that one... I am convinced he is tuned up a 1/2 step on the recording.
  17. Messing around with the freeze tonight. It's so much fun i can play with it for hours. Here's a short sound clip of doing a drone and playing over it It's obviously w**kery at It's highest form, but it does show kind of what it can do. Live i only use orange "freeze" mode. This messing around with green "layering" mode It definitely gets a bit muddy when i kick octave up in trying to process all those notes. But it sounds great (to me) withcl the chorus and reverb This is empress bass comp->jam red muck->deep freeze-> plethora x3 with a virtual board consisting of sub n up, corona chorus and hall of fame reverb. I apologise in advance for any number of bass discretions on this clip. freeze.mp3
  18. Two Tribes - FGTH I have the riff down but i don't have the endurance.
  19. Still sounds as good as it did 35 years ago!
  20. Thanks so much, everyone. I swear i wasnt trying to self promote when i posted this. Just was excited to be on the radio! Appreciate all the feedback.
  21. Cheers, bud. Thanks so much. Def Nettle is the name.
  22. Wow! Thanks so much! What an amazing thing to say. Yeah, busted out the entire pedalboard for God's Trainers!
  23. Cheers, bud! My singer put it in soundcloud, just our bits. I wonder if you hear the same audio issues... https://m.soundcloud.com/defnettle/def-nettle-at-2fms-the-alternative?fbclid=PAAaYRN98_VMKLxA1elxEcCbORGXDac7bBzKfPcT_Qlmi_P8yyS1qZo1CDQ50
  24. Lol. They did that to Rick Wakeman! yeah, 100% the case with H&H. He played behind a curtain the whole tour. He was front and center with Dio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Warren that's him. his younger brother was my boss when i lived in SF in them90s
