Probably 84 to 94. Covers the thrash and hair metal i was into, all the best hip hop, dipping into the grunge stuff and ending before nu metal. Gives me metallica, pixies, one of VH best albums (1984), some excellent metal, all the great old school rap. Got vulgar display of power in there as well as most of the best FNM/Mr. Bungle stuff. The RHCP were still good. Esrly soundgarden. Nirvana. To me, thats the best 10 years.

Cheers, my man. it's a homemade bass i made back like 20 years ago. Built with a buddy from raw wood. I never got it right and recently pulled it out and brought it to a local luthier to do a bunch of major modifications to it. It is an unreal tonemonster now! So flexible. I used it to record most of our next album. It's a bit heavy, but under 10 lbs, but it has literally every tone under the sun! One of the mods i did was put a 12 position varitone in. I made a short build thread here when i had the mods done going through the bits:

I didnt even know these things existed. Anyone ever use one? I ordered one for a moses graphite necked bass i have where the nut wall is a bit shallow so the e string pops out. Cheers, bud. On the nut, i dont really have any tools (files) to do it, I've never dine it before and wanting this to be a bass i use heavily live, i wanted to make sure it was setup correctly. Id say if i had the right files i would have tried to do it myself.

I'm thinking cream pickup covers. Will that be too much with the maple neck?

I believe, a d someone will correct me of im wrong, if it is really only going to be headphine practice, you can just get. a DI box. But this seems to meet your requirements for not much cash. Having to run with a cab attached is really only for all tube amps.

I coild have gone cheaper on a lot of it, but i went all high quality and/or almost exclusively fender branded bits including labella flats. The breakdown is approximately (in euros): Neck: 249 from thomann. Body: 160 from musicstore.de Paint: 110 (if i were more confident, i could have halved this pricewise and bought fewer cans) Loom from @KiOgon approx. 40-ish Pickup (used, bought locally,, fender PV 63) 100 Additional parts (tuners, bridge, strapholders, shielding tape, pickguard etc) approx 330 So about a grand all in. Could have been done for much less easily. But it's exactly what i wanted, particularly the reverse headstock and the nitro finish which i love. The enjoyment i got out of the painting process makes the whole thing worth it. Im not including all the bits for sanding and polishing which i went over the top on, but could have only spent about 25 in the end. I did pay a local fella 100 quid to groove the nut and setup.
