  1. I have the midibeam 4connect to add expression pedal and 2 button switch (one for sustain/hold one for down program) and it is a revelation. Default setup worked right out if the box.
  2. Is this the same stuff or are you using pads? https://www.pro-detailing.de/products/kovax-tolecut-abrasive-kit-p1500-p2000-p3000?variant=34845668802728&currency=EUR&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=CjwKCAjwuqiiBhBtEiwATgvixH0JynU56NTAR_BLLLf7xEo5GHl8KeqvJ00YUhfyRMKwuy-annC1yRoCD18QAvD_BwE
  3. so you didn't do a progressive wetsand? just those pads and then poloish? i don't know kovax, but it looks very expensive! Gorgeous job!

  7. A tiny bit. So slight i thought only @fleabagwould notice
  8. i'd paint the headstock orange
  9. I do like the irish colour scheme
  10. Thats actually what i was going to use, but as you can see the redundant holes were covered up fairly well so wasnt necessary.
  11. No worries! Thats why this place is great. Lots of people with lots of knowledge! I do ask a lot of questions as I'm fairly obsessive and want to get things right! Cheers, bud.
  12. I understand that for sure. What i am saying is the body i bought has a predrilled channel from the control cavity to under the bridge for the ground wire. What it doesn't have that most aftermarket bodies have is the five holes predrilled for the bridge screws so i have to figure out where those go so i can get the placement correct for my bridge. I have a pretty good idea, but i want to get it as exact as possible.
  13. Tuners installed. Got it pretty dang good if i do say so myself.
  14. Ive got these old school fatties like the ones on the Nate Mendel which i love the look of but they take up a lot of real estate. I think i can align the bottom of the cloverhead with the edge of the headstock, tape it down, mark the holes and drill. You can see that the old holes are almsoy entirely covered up. Wish me luck!
  15. Yeah, that would be the way, but i want to put them in tonight! Hoping i get them in straight. Is there any way but to eyeball?
  16. Yeah, love McVie's. It's funny, there's no bigfer Ox fan than me, but i dont like his isloated tone at all!
  17. I was stressing a split the whole time! Here's a question, my neck has pre drilled holes for the tuner screws. The tuners i bought have a much bigger baseplate so the holes dont come close to the pre drilled ones. Will i bother filling in the predrilled ones? I feel as long as they arent too close it should be alright.
  18. Bushings in. Was a right pain in the hole. Had to slightly sand the tuner holes to make them just a touch bigger. Then i used a hammer and a wrench socket to gently tap them in just enough so they didnt fall out, then i used a C clamp and and block of wood on the back of the neck to slowly tighten them into place. Got them perfectly flush and i cant imagine they'd be slipping out. Again, a minor update but i would have liked to have found a thread with all these type of minor updates in one place when starting.
  19. Hey, could you do me a favour? Can you measure how far the bridge guideholes are from the bottom of the bass? My bass has the channel for the ground wire but not the guideholes. Imtoying with doing ti mywelf and trying to get as many measurements as possible. Also, are they exactly 35" from the fretboard side of the nut? I believe the measurment someone gave me to the screwheads was exactly 35" but I'd love to lnow the lenght to yhe guideholes if you wouldnt mind. Thanks so much!
  20. I went for three coats of sanding sealer, then sanded, three coats of primer, 7 coats of colour, but i sanded at least a few back due to runs and six coats of clear. A lot to be fair, but im basically a beginner (although ive done it before with excellent results) but right inline with the reranch 101 steps. You can still slightly see the join in the front but im not worried. Almost zero grain showing now. Will see how it looks after polish. I couldnt be more pleased with how it looks currently. I have a build thread here
