  1. Cant you just get a tuner? Our first three songs in our set i go from E to Eb to D then back to E for the fourth and it takes all of three seconds.
  2. I have the bass octave deluxe and it is amazing as well. Best analog octave down in the game for a reasonable price.
  3. i came in thinking you were wiring up some analog multi effects box, i didn't realise this would be a technological full on midi digital box. i have no idea how people know how to do this stuff, but i'm so impressed. can't wait to see how it turns out. i'm sure it's mentioned, but i didn't understand. are you using like open source effects code that people have made? is that a thing? like patches for a future impact? do you have to code? do you re-jig well known patches? like have people reverse engineered the code in say a boss digital pedal and you can load that into this? sorry for so many questions!
  4. Man, i thought ive looked everywhere. Interesting! And a good price. I do love gotoh. Cheers, bud.
  5. I'm excited. This is a long time coming, and im probably spending way too much on this, but it's sentimental and i think (am hoping) the result will be killer. 20 years ago a buddy helped me put this together. Basically we bought the walnut planks, did all the laminations and then i vought the schematic for a 60s SG and took it to a cabinet maker to shape for me. He did a great job. The neck is handbuilt by another old friend. What wasnt great is the way I laid everything out. I put the bridge too far up the body so the Neck hangs off too long and it feels loke you're playing a super long scale. I just never took to it. I love the look and its all high end parts, sounds amazing but just feels odd. So i brought it to a luthier to do a bunch of mods. First thing is i am having him drop the neck and bridge towards the heel about 5cm. Im putting a Dimarzio DP120 into the neck position and moving the bart jazz right above the bart MM so it will be a three pickup bass. I'm having him put in a 5 way switch with a chicken head for pickup selection (basically wired like a strat) And i got one of these for the tone pot https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/261049973/guitar-bass-guitar-tone-control-the-v12?click_key=835b7012994af975477b5e225ba334f58557d849%3A261049973&click_sum=34a5cb54&ref=shop_home_feat_1&frs=1 Two chicken head knobs! I got matching ones and a mini one so not sure which I'll use yet. All passive. Will likely do volume for Dimarzio and stacked volume for the two barts with switch for split coils. I also 3D printed a pickup ring for the MM pickup. It took me a while to get all the bits together. the bridge is an original badass I (not II) so it is countersunk a bit. Here is what it looks like currently. I estimate about 2-3 weeks to completion
  6. if anyone is interested, after a few weeks of contacting every parts vendor i could find trying to find the perfect neck for this project, i finally did a special order for one of these https://richtonemusic.co.uk/Fender-Player-Series-Precision-Bass-Left-Handed-Neck-20-Med-Jumbo-Frets-Maple/ i didn't order from richtone, but that is by far the best price you will find on this neck anywhere on earth. i've checked everywhere. i got thomann to do a very close price match, but even they wouldn't go that low. but i would have had to pay import fees from the UK you lefties have it rough. now i need to find left handed tuners. i believe the schaller BMF are reversible so i will likely end up getting those, although i would prefer fender ones. do you think these are reversible like the schallers are? they look like they should be. https://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_70s_style_bass_machine_head.htm
  7. It's amazing the quailty and variety you can get for sub 500 quid nowadays
  8. Made a few adjustments and now they're ready to spray black
  9. the jaw had broken but i recently replaced it with one i ordered from ed roman guitars. two in fact, now it's back in action.
  10. How long are they lasting? I'll ask the obvious question, you're unplugging instrument cord in the bass when not using, correct?
  11. I bought a powersupply for my pedalboard that had a usb charger for this exact situation. The harley benton one with the ten iso ports and one USB
  12. Personally, id go preamp, distortion, synth, chorus. Id assume some people will say preamp at the end, but i guess it depends on what you're using it for?
  13. Heavy prog. Formed from one if my all time favourite bands, Idiot Flesh
  14. I think i blocked out my face years ago to postt this on hcbf. There is almost 100% chance though that i was wasted. In fact, there is a pretty much 100% chance i am wasted everytime i post here. I like to do that often... This is me though...
  15. Aye, im waiting to order something from the UK, but can't until this is sorted.
  16. Woukd you know is it 2.5"/63.3mm heel?
  17. So you lads would rate the necks on these highly? Im about to buy a player replacement neck for a project bass.
  18. To be considered a pointy bass, i feel it needs a pointy body, not just a pointy headstock
  19. I still got these two, but i need to get a nut cut for the 8 string. It's all Sims LEDs and a laser in the headstock
  20. Im big on pointy basses, but ive sold almost all of mine. Used to have a crazy custom shop BC Rich Bich bass. My all time favourite pointy is an ibanez icb500 iceman bass which you can see pointing out behind me. This is only pic i got of it
  21. I absolutely love it. I am finding the key is each tone has it's place on the fretboard, so something that might sound great on the lower frets sounds shite on the higher register, and vice versa. I love the velocity sensitivity and responsiveness is sick. You definitely have to not play poly, but i am getting some cool riffs. I need to hook up an expression pedal as i think it will add a lot. Obviously presets would be a dream, but this is an analog pedal and i knew exactly what i was getting going in.
