I have fond memories of watching MTV when it was actually a music channel. I started to watch that Real World show they started and at that point I started to drift away from the channel. I'm still very happy with the purchase. A 'unicorn bass' is exactly how I described it too. The pre-amp took a little bit of time to tame, but I am really happy with the bass. As others have stated, they can be a bit on the weighty side, but I've mostly been playing mine sat down, so that's been a non-issue for me and mine. Mark
