  1. You really want to know the answer to that question, eh? Mark
  2. Hello and welcome. Mark
  3. Good on you for standing up for yourself. Sorry it came to the point you had to leave the band, but if you told them why you were handing in your notice, and they didn't reverse their decision to have the keys player doing basslines (synth or otherwise), then it looks like you made the best decision. Mark
  4. Is there no scope for compromise in this situation? I realise that there shouldn't be the requirement for such a conversation in a band, but this issue isn't of your making, it's been forced upon you, so the best situation can surely to be attempt a compromise. If you don't feel comfortable in relinquishing full bass duties (and why should you, really?), and you are not wanting to take over drums or guitar or whatever other instruments are already played in the band, suggest a new one? Tell them you'll play gong throughout the song? Or triangle? Try and make the suggestion just ridiculous enough to highlight that their suggestion to you is equally daft and offensive. You may not be one for confrontation, and that's fine, I can understand that if that's the case, but again, this is not a situation of your making, they brought this to you, not the other way around. It doesn't seem as though you are quite prepared to walk away from the band, the posting of this thread says as much to me, but sadly you'll have to deal with the situation one way or another. Mark
  5. Once I've come down from the joyous expectation I had for this update, I'll finally get some sleep tonight. 😂 Mark
  6. Yes! Vindication for the circuit board staying on display. Good choice. Mark
  7. I don't have a particular axe to grind with this, but stating that the cost of content creation is zero (or close to that) is a preposterous statement, even someone with a cursory knowledge of what it takes to create content (which, for the record, is not a term I particularly like to use, but from a streaming services PoV, I find it very appropriate) knows the cost is not "close to zero". Music fans and artists hit back as Spotify CEO claims “the cost of creating content” is “close to zero” Mark
  8. Betteridge's law of headlines applied to thread titles? Mark
  9. I really like the green circuit board showing, it's the other part of the cavity that lets the whole look down for me. Perhaps use the body wood photo under that section? Mark
  10. That looks f'kin fantastic! I'm a big fan of three pickup basses, this one didn't disappoint. Mark
  11. Ha! I know, but by the time that knowledge was known, it was too late. Mark
  12. OVERSHARE! 😳 Mark
  13. Agreed, it does happen, but that doesn't explain the lack of communication from the seller. Mark
  14. I'd never really considered this approach. It is the only identifying mark/name on the bass, everything else is just plain. I may actually just leave it alone now. Mark
  15. My Maison 129p is my longest had instrument. Bought in '92 I think, and it sounds absolutely lovely through my Vox amp. Sadly, the volume knob on the bass no longer works so I have to get that replaced, and I'm planning on removing the name decal from the body at some point - someone here recommended T-Cut for that, I haven't got around to doing it yet. It was the second bass I ever owned, and the first 5-String. Mark
  16. Best buy was my Vox AC-50 amp, which I got together with a Vox VR-115, for £150 in the early '90s. Granted, it was by no means a bargain for me at the time, as I think I was only earning about £70 a month. I still have both items, and the amp now goes for considerably more than what I paid for it, but I love it, so I'm not gonna part with it. Mark
  17. This was the first video of his I saw, it was amazing to see and hear that all done on the bass like it was. Mark
  18. There's loads of songs I'd love to be able to play fully and accurately, but as this is a Party Piece, I'll say either Dragon Attack or The Invisible Man, both by Queen/John Deacon. Mark
  19. All this talk of drummers counting the songs in reminds me of this … Mark

    Hello

    Hello and welcome. Mark
  21. Bought a bass from them last year and everything was good. They answered my emails without issues, being in a different country to them everything was done remotely and no issues with the bass upon arrival with me. I'd have no concerns with dealing with them again should the need/want arise. Mark
  22. I don't hate them, but for the life of me I just don't get the Flying-V shape. This might sound odd coming from a POV of someone that really likes Thunderbirds, but the Flying-V I just can't get my head around. I have zero time for this shape of bass/guitar. My mate has a guitar and just … nope. I simply can't be having it. It's like there's this disconnect in my head that whenever I see one I just have to roll my eyes and give a little shake of my head. 😂 Mark
  23. I've been waiting ages to use this. 😂 Mark
