  1. I tried to find the Spider-Man paint job, but failed, so perhaps I either imagined it or just mis-remembered, but yeah, that TRON paint job was pretty nice I thought. Mark
  2. Have you tried fitting your D string to the G position and seeing if that fits? If it does you have your answer re thicker gauge strings. Mark
  3. These have been all over my Fb feed for ages. I really haven't see anything that made me sit up and go 'wow'. They did custom TRON and Spider-Man paint jobs which I liked. They do have some very nice finishes. Mark
  4. Yep, you've just highlighted the main criticisms of this bass from everyone else, even the reviewers that I've seen have the exact same issues, not just people on Reddit going 'WTF?!?' 😂 But I don't hate the Jackson headstock, similarly for the scratchplate and bridge (I actually really like that bridge), I'll admit the scratchplate gave me pause at the start, but I got over it pretty quickly. As @Cornwall Steve said, it's a bit quirky looking, but in this case, I think it all works. Mark
  5. Right? All the reviewers I've seen that approached this bass was with trepidation and caution, only to be really impressed with it. Yes, it may just be a Jazz/Precision bass, but every review I've seen of it have all been positive with particular mention of the range of tones that it can produce. I'm just really curious about them, and I don't hate the styling of it, it just needs to come in at a good price and I'd get it. Mark
  6. Unpopular opinion incoming 😅 For the price range suggested I'd wait for one of the rather snappily titled Jackson X Series Concert Bass CBXNT DX V's to become available. There's one in white on Reverb but it's in the US, so you'd have to pay loads more in import fees and tax and duty and tariff and it just wouldn't be worth it, but I've wanted one of these basses for a long time. They were heavily discounted at some point in the past but I just missed that. I still keep a vague lookout for them at decent prices, but I've not seen any. Mark
  7. These baseplates are things of beauty. Mark
  8. I saw this one pop up on my Fb feed, I've been waiting for this thread to appear since then. Mark
  9. We may have had this one, but … Def Leopard. 😃 Mark
  10. If used for a musical instrument, tone wood? Mark
  11. Given the announcement from a couple of days ago, I don't imagine this will be the last of such announcements from a wide variety of businesses. It's crap for Harley Benton, because once the existing stock is gone, it'll cost the US buyers to order from Thomann probably about as much as it would to buy other cheap brands from the US. I guess US sales will drop off precipitously for Harley Benton once existing stock has been sold off. Mark
  12. Thanks for posting that vid in the OP. I knew about the Sandberg connection but I didn't know he had a signature model. He mentions the health issues of Danny towards the start, it's good to see that Danny has been making progress in his recovery. Thunder has been making a number of album re-issues recently, I can only suppose this is because the band currently has no income because of the lack of touring, so I don't begrudge them that at all, I've even bought a few myself. Mark
  13. Yes, you can order them via me. Send me a PM or email. Just 4-string versions? Or are there going to be 5-string versions too? Mark
  14. I've been a Thunder fan since their first album. I'm looking forward to giving this a play when I've the time. Mark

  16. Def Leppard had 6 entries (464, 379, 286, 205, 106, and 81) 5 of which were from the '80s, the other from the '90s. Nothing strange or startling from any of those entries, but it's just nice to see them make an appearance. Mark
  17. Oohh, our TV is always at odd numbers for volume. Normally 35 when watching with The Wife, but when she's in bed I set it to 31, sometimes 29 or 27 if it's a particularly loud mix. Mark
  18. 😂 Sometimes it can also be an automatic response. 😂 Mark
  19. 🙄 😂 Mark
  20. Manufactured in large quantities = mass produced. I suspect a few thousand of something would qualify as mass produced. I have no idea in what quantities basses are produced, so I can't help with that. Mark
  21. Keep them for another 20 years and then sell them to add to your retirement fund? Mark
  22. That was really good, and worthy of a follow all by itself. I've listened to the rest of the album, and it's now on my list to get on the next Bandcamp Friday. Mark
