  1. I took the Bourbon in question to be one of these … Mark
  2. TIL that tuner pedals are a thing. Never heard of them until now. Mark
  3. Something new arrived for me today … East Uni-Pre 5, black. Mark
  4. Different situation to the OP - I have a knackered right shoulder, not a beer gut - but I've found the side slinging works for me. It's a little tougher getting to the lower notes of the neck, but I kinda know what I'm doing down there anyway, it's the higher ones I need to look at the fretboard markers/see the strings for, and the side slinging helps with that aspect of play. You can even make it work - in a fashion - playing sat down with a strap. Mark
  5. A nice cup of tea. If I'm feeling particularly good that day I may have a biscuit or two for dunking as well. Mark
  6. Spotted this Ibanez BTB846 on Fb marketplace. I obviously cannot say it is the one that got lost, but I can't say it's not either, so … Mark

Bridge! New bridge day. Las Vegas > Louisville > Philadelphia > Stanstead > Castle Donington > Newtownabbey > My House One more piece of the puzzle for my self-build falls into place. Mark
  8. I just answered my own question. D'oh! I carried on searching after posting my question and found this link to a data sheet on the Peavey site. *sigh* Move along, nothing to see here. Mark
  9. Just a quick Q on the Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String bass, which I did a quick search for here but did not find an answer for. Are the bridges on this bass top loading as well as string-through body? They look like it to me, but I've not seen any photos of it where it's not string-through, so I thought I'd just query to be on the safe side. Mark
  10. I would also include this band too. Mark
  11. Def Leppard, Larkin Poe, MonaLisa Twins, Terrorvision, Is The KLF still together? if so, them, The Proclaimers, KT Tunstall, Aimee Mann, Thunder, Fiona Apple. Main headliners would be Def Leppard. Mark
  12. Accurate! Went to see them when they played Maine Road in '92. Took to the stage well over an hour later than billed. Mark
  13. Never mind the bass, I wanna see more of that climbing wall! Mark
  14. I'm gonna echo what the bass player says at the end of that track and say, I love that one. Mark
  15. Always two, there are. No more. No less. A Master and an *apprentice. Mark *backup
  16. I think the Internet can close for the rest of today after that post. Mark
  17. I use a pick exclusively. Nothing wrong with being a pick user in my book. Hiya and welcome. Mark
  18. '86-'96 If only for, Queen's A Kind of Magic and three of my favourite albums Def Leppard's Retro-Active and Slang and Mick Ronson's Heaven and Hull. There was lots of other music from that 10 year period I really like as well, these are just the standout moments for me. Mark
  19. This is interesting when I think about it. All my electronic gadgets and computers are named (possibly for network identification purposes), I've named my car (it's not gender specific and I don't refer to it as 'he' or 'she'), but none of my basses have ever had names. My Maison is just 'the Maison', my AB-35 is either '5-string Acoustic' or just 'the acoustic', and my Ashdown is just 'the Lodestone'. So no, no names for any of my basses yet. Mark
  20. Bought a book from Mick and the exchange could not have been smoother. Communication was great, provided extra images and just a really great transaction. Thanks for the pleasant experience, Mick. Mark
  21. I've been doing some reading on truss rod channel cutting for a DIY neck, and I've not been able to come up with answers for the below. When routing the truss rod channel, if I wanted the adjustment access hole at the headstock, how far up the neck blank do I route? Does it stop at the 1st fret marker? (I know I'll need to route all the way out, otherwise I'll have no place for the adjustments to be made, see final Q about this below.) How much extra does the channel need (if any?) for rod expansion/contraction during manipulation of it? Finally (for the moment) for this rod, does the access hole have to be wider than the channel for the rod? Mark
  22. This has me intrigued now about a fretless, and I don't even play fretless! 😂 Mark
