  1. I have a Tanglewood Les Paul copy, but I would dearly love a Firebird guitar. Mark
  2. For the people boycotting Amazon for purchases, I understand your stance, but it doesn't really matter where you direct your online business to, because Amazon Web Services (AWS) makes up so much of the internet backbone these days, that no matter where you make your online purchases, you are still very likely to be using Amazon via AWS to do so. And not just purchases either, pretty much any website you use will likely have AWS at some point between you and the service you want to access online. If you truly want to boycott Amazon, you may as well just get off the Internet, as that's really the only way to avoid using Amazon these days. Mark
  3. I really liked that, nice work there. The writeup under the video was a good read too. Also, 52 tracks! 😳 Mark

    Hi.

    Hello and welcome. Mark
  5. Hello and welcome. Mark
  6. Wow. Look at the break angle on that B (or whatever tuning of the lowest) string! And does it really pass under all the other strings? Mark
  7. I really like the look of that bridge. Nice work all round. Mark
  8. But … but … NEW BASS! Mark
  9. Even Flow by Pearl Jam … " … rests his head on a pillow made of concrete" Right, not Even Flow then. 😂 Mark
  10. You really want to know the answer to that question, eh? Mark
  11. Hello and welcome. Mark
  12. Good on you for standing up for yourself. Sorry it came to the point you had to leave the band, but if you told them why you were handing in your notice, and they didn't reverse their decision to have the keys player doing basslines (synth or otherwise), then it looks like you made the best decision. Mark
  13. Is there no scope for compromise in this situation? I realise that there shouldn't be the requirement for such a conversation in a band, but this issue isn't of your making, it's been forced upon you, so the best situation can surely to be attempt a compromise. If you don't feel comfortable in relinquishing full bass duties (and why should you, really?), and you are not wanting to take over drums or guitar or whatever other instruments are already played in the band, suggest a new one? Tell them you'll play gong throughout the song? Or triangle? Try and make the suggestion just ridiculous enough to highlight that their suggestion to you is equally daft and offensive. You may not be one for confrontation, and that's fine, I can understand that if that's the case, but again, this is not a situation of your making, they brought this to you, not the other way around. It doesn't seem as though you are quite prepared to walk away from the band, the posting of this thread says as much to me, but sadly you'll have to deal with the situation one way or another. Mark
  14. Once I've come down from the joyous expectation I had for this update, I'll finally get some sleep tonight. 😂 Mark
  15. Yes! Vindication for the circuit board staying on display. Good choice. Mark
  16. I don't have a particular axe to grind with this, but stating that the cost of content creation is zero (or close to that) is a preposterous statement, even someone with a cursory knowledge of what it takes to create content (which, for the record, is not a term I particularly like to use, but from a streaming services PoV, I find it very appropriate) knows the cost is not "close to zero". Music fans and artists hit back as Spotify CEO claims “the cost of creating content” is “close to zero” Mark
  17. Betteridge's law of headlines applied to thread titles? Mark
  18. I really like the green circuit board showing, it's the other part of the cavity that lets the whole look down for me. Perhaps use the body wood photo under that section? Mark
  19. That looks f'kin fantastic! I'm a big fan of three pickup basses, this one didn't disappoint. Mark
  20. Ha! I know, but by the time that knowledge was known, it was too late. Mark
  21. OVERSHARE! 😳 Mark
  22. Agreed, it does happen, but that doesn't explain the lack of communication from the seller. Mark
  23. I'd never really considered this approach. It is the only identifying mark/name on the bass, everything else is just plain. I may actually just leave it alone now. Mark
  24. My Maison 129p is my longest had instrument. Bought in '92 I think, and it sounds absolutely lovely through my Vox amp. Sadly, the volume knob on the bass no longer works so I have to get that replaced, and I'm planning on removing the name decal from the body at some point - someone here recommended T-Cut for that, I haven't got around to doing it yet. It was the second bass I ever owned, and the first 5-String. Mark
