  1. The Wife is treating me well today making me birthday pancakes for breakfast, but we aren't here for such frippery 😂 We are here for Bass! Some quick iPhone snaps I took the day the bass arrived, better photos will be taken and posted soon. I have a new set of strings waiting to be put on and I got some strap locks for it too. I'll definitely be replacing the cloverleaf tuners. Purchased from the Marketplace here (for sale thread). Mark
  2. Wonderfully happy today, thank you all. PoiDH will be taking place shortly, thank you for your patience. Mark
  3. Whilst that would indeed be a lovely instrument for someone on here to have bought, it's 4 strings, so not only would I not be getting it, but I suspect I'd need to have remortgaged the house if that was what I'd bought - hint, I did not remortgage the house for the purchase I made. 😂 Mark
  4. Tuning that G string would be interesting. Mark
  5. There,s actually a big clue hiding in plain sight in my post above, but not long to go now before I reveal all. Mark
  6. Oohh, what's this then? But I can't have it until Monday (my birthday) as it's a present from The Wife, so if I can't have it until then, you can't be knowing what it is either. 😂 This is the teaser for the main reveal next week. Mark
  7. I still like it without scratchplate, but that black looks lovely on it. Good choice there for sure. Mark
  8. Evenin' all, I need to change the strings on my Washburn AB-35, and I'm unsure which to select. My usual string of choice is the Rotosound 77 flats, 45-130 gauge. I've never changed the strings on this bass from the ones that came with it, and I've no idea what they are but they are certainly a lighter gauge string than the Rotosound ones. Now obviously I don't wanna rip the bridge off the bass by using strings with too high a tension 😂 Will the Rotosound strings damage the bass? If so, what's a good flatwound string of the same gauge that I could use? Mark
  9. Hello and welcome and also … Wow. Nicely done. Mark
  10. Hi from NI. (Heh, that kinda rhymes, unintentionally, but there we are.) Mark
  11. 😂 This statement is not untrue. I love mine though. I have the AB-34 as well, which I really should get around to selling at some point. Mark
  12. Fair enough. I can certainly understand your reasoning. I just prefer the look sans scratchplate, but it ain't my bass. Mark
  13. My Washburn AB-35, which I absolutely love. It needs a string change, but at the moment this is the only solo photo I have of it. Mark
  14. 😂 Mark
  15. I too though the same as above when I saw the image of no scratchplate bass. Mark
  16. It shouldn't be a "flat looking headstock", it should look like this … The above is my Lodestone Primal Artist, but the Primal Instinct bass had the same design headstock. Mark
  17. Right about now I should've been writing a NBD post, instead I'm here asking for a little assistance. There's a bass here in the marketplace I was in the process of acquiring, money had changed bank accounts and everything was looking good, until the seller got cold feet at having to post to Northern Ireland and possible customs charges. The seller is in Scotland. I tried to allay these concerns informing the seller I had purchased a bass from a seller here in August last year based in England and no customs charges incurred, I also informed them I'd bought basses from sellers that weren't members here and again no customs charges, but alas the seller decided not to proceed and issued me a full refund. I'd rather have this bass than the money so I asked them if I could have someone collect the bass from them, would that be acceptable, and they agreed. The bass is in Falkirk, in Scotland, is there any Basschatter in that part of the UK willing to collect the bass for me then package and post to me? Full disclosure, it's not actually me buying this, it is The Wife, buying it for me for my birthday in late Nov., so it doesn't have to be an immediate post onto me, but getting here for the 25th of November would be really good. If anyone is willing to assist I can provide pickup location details which have been provided by the seller in DM's and date and time can be arranged the same way. Mark
  18. Does it have the correct carved/shaped headstock? Mark
  19. The P-bass variant was the Primal Instinct wasn't it? From what I can gather these did indeed come with EMG pickup, and you're also correct about the 'claw' inlays. Again, correct that they were Chez Republic made. I only know this as I have the Lodestone Primal Artist 5-String and I looked for information on the basses before I bought mine early last year. I've never actually seen an Instinct come up for sale, so quite rare to see anything about them. Mark
  20. This thread stinks. 😂 Mark
  21. Poached Punk. Mark
  22. I don't hate it. Mark
  23. Kinda heartbreaking when you're all geared up for NBD posts and then the sale falls through. 😢

Some things aren't meant to be.  Maybe something better will turn up.  What bass were you looking at?

      I'm still hopeful hahaha

I'm trying to organise something so I'll hold off from saying just yet if that's OK?
Once I know the bass is 100% out of reach from me I'll be happy to say. 😊

      No.  It's not okay, tease.

      Heeheehee

  24. There may be nothing innovative about these, but it doesn't stop me wanting one of the 5-string versions of it. It's a weird combination of three different makes/types of bass that on paper shouldn't really work, but in practice I love it. Opinions are basically that this is a Marmite bass, but just like Marmite itself, I like this bass. When you see something you like, it doesn't need to be innovative. Mark
  25. I just asked The Wife "If I Was to ask you to name 10 bass players, would you be able to?" The Wife : "No" Me : 5? The Wife : "No" Me : 2? The Wife : "No" Me : 1? The Wife : "You" Me : Famous bass players? The Wife : "No" Mark
