1. A new law should be passed. Everyone should be made accountable for their internet posts.

It could be pretty hard to police, but I have a plan: When God does the judgement day thing and burns all sinners in hell, we could get him to tack a paragraph or two on general posting behaviour after the big chunk of sinful naughtiness. Shouldn't take up too much extra time and I don't suppose that we will all have anything urgent to do by then anyway.

  2. How about £15 for:

    UZEB – World Tour ’90 £3
    Brand X – X Comunication (Percy Jones) fusion £3
Jeff Berlin – Taking Notes £3
    Jeff Berlin – In Harmony’s Way £3
Mike Oldfield – Music of the Spheres £3
Barbara Thompson – Shifting Sands (Paul Westwood) £??? (no price)

That would effectively be Barbara Thompson for nowt, but then it is only £2.49 on iTunes!

  3. Is that the one that was secondhand at the bass gallery a year or two ago? Looks extremely similar.

I went back a couple of times just to try the one they had. It was a total peach of a bass, the best I've ever laid my hands on. I would dearly have loved it but I just couldn't get the cash together at the time. They look great and feel amazing (should do at that price I guess!).

    Awesome bass.

  4. Hmmmn ........ I find it a bit disconcerting when people want to abuse instruments in this way, unless it's i) a pile of poop anyway ii) something that you are definitely keeping for life.

    Still, it's up to you!

Have you thought about getting a vinyl cut done? It's more easily reversible! There's probably union jacks already available, for cars etc.

  5. I wanted one really good bass and I now have it. Probably end of bass GAS.

I play quite a few instruments but I only really GAS for 6 string guitars. Everything else I have one 'really good un' now, infact I have the perfect bass, acoustic guitar, chapman stick, electronic drumkit and electric guitar so GAS should be a thing of the past (yeah, right!). The one thing I could improve on would be a better keyboard, but to be honest the ones I have are OK for my purposes and I don't really drool over keyboards.

Or give it a try yourself! - you might not need to sell ......

I would suggest that you go back and remove every post that says 'bump' and trim the thread down to a more readable size, it takes a bit of patience to get to the end!

  7.
Golchen, I don't think I'll ever part with my Desertburst Les Paul - as I've been selling off my other guitars, it's the one I've made sure to keep hold of - partly because it's battered and bruised and not worth what the other ones are worth ....
Actually, the condition is the major attraction. I just don't like new guitars and new finishes. Best of luck with the sale of the other one.

  8. I don't mean to be rude, but that sort of ‘relicing’ doesn't really do it for me (although I love relics!). It looks a bit too much like you had to fight it off with a screwdriver in the dead of night! Makes a good punk bass though.

Personally, I think that the best way to attain a 'relic' type finish is to strip all the paint off, do some careful masking of areas to stay as ‘wood’ (checking some genuine relic photos for accuracy) Respray body and coat with nitro, and then use that as your starting point for ‘blending it all in. I was going to do that with a strat of mine, but I stripped off the paint and it looked so cool (to me!) that I just left it like that.

Having said that, it’s your bass and if you are happy with it then fine!

  9. I got a MIJ strat, then added a strat plus, then added an American strat. One had to go ....... the plus went!

For starters I never liked the look of the ugly blank pickups. Didn't particularly like the sound of them either. The TBX didn't seem very good, I thought it was faulty so I had a new one put in. Sounded exactly the same. It was a good guitar overall, but the other two were just better.

I wouldn't get one again as I prefer a trad looking trem, nut and pups.

  10.
Guthrie Govan's 'Erotic Cakes' album. Started with the main heads/phrases of most of the songs (few of them I'm not too fussed about), then my favourite licks, and now moving to some of the solos.
Great album from a great guitarist! Are you learning the guitar parts or the bass parts? I think that there’s some great bass playing on that album from Guthrie’s brother ....... but the guitar parts are impossible!!!!!

I still consider myself a newbie bass player, I’ve been on and off for a couple of years but it’s still only a bedroom indulgence. I seen to find it impossible working out bass parts off of records – I just can’t seem to tune into what the bass is doing, and then translate it onto the instrument that I am holding. Even stuff that sounds fairly clear in the mix seems to give me grief.

  11. I’m not a fan of the headphones route personally. We have a tiny utility room and I get in there and shut the door. I have a great little roland bass practice amp that I use, and I plug my laptop into some decent powered speakers for backing tracks. Works great for me.
