Seeing as we are going rampant on the prn, here's my pimped JS100, 3 shots of the same guitar!

max all the time. On another instrument that I won't mention I use it a lot though.

I loved yes with a passion, but we divorced acrimoniously once they got buggled. Oh the humiliation we proggers suffered at 6th form. The current singer was in a tribute band. It's the no. 1 alternative to not having your singer these days.

Interesting. I'm not sure I'd take that on, I have no understanding of electronics, although I'm quite happy to replace like for like. Laff'd at retro spelt wrong twice in the title!

Hmmnn. I came here for guitar-related porn and I get a couple of boxes. A bit like when I went to www.crackofdawn.com and just got sunrise pictures.

I really wanted to like Warwicks (and I was sure I would!) but I eventually got around to trying a few at the Gallery some time back and they really weren't for me on practically all fronts.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to have ANYTHING to do with the 'C' word before December .....................

Is good bass playing on recordings just for bass playing listeners? The recent thread on Steely Dan and the easier bass playing on their earlier albums compared to the complex latter stuff go me thinking. I’ve been having a go at bass for a few years now, and I find myself homing in on the bass playing on music sometimes, listening to what is going on. However, for the rest of the many years that I have listened to music, I have only been aware of the really obvious bass lines (eg Pink Floyd, Money). Steely Dan is a good case in point. I have been a big fan for decades, although not played them much in the past 10 years as I have all their LPs on vinyl and no record player plugged in. I couldn’t tell you a thing about any bass playing on any of their stuff, whether it was complex or simple. I just listen to them with my ‘non-musician’ hat on and enjoy the songs. I think that bass comes into its own much more live, with proper amplification. Lowish volume hi-fi or radio just don’t do it justice. I’d say that 99% of the time good bass playing just goes over the head of your average listener, although it does subconsciously improve music I guess. Any thoughts?

I think that Will Young is a pretty decent artist actually. Over the years the wife has dragged me along to see Cliff Richard FIVE TIMES!!!! But I have to say that he actually puts on a very good show, has a lot of good songs, and I did get to see Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch.

I went in 2006 and met my two favourite guitarists! (Thomas Blug and Guthrie Govan) but I haven't bothered since. I found the show a bit weak, and I seem to recall that you couldn't actually buy anything?? Really pissed off with the MASSIVE car park charge, which they don't even mention anywhere at all beforehand. The only reason for me to go would be if there was someone there I REALLY wanted to see. I would 100% be there if Thomas Blug was demoing H&K amps again, but I have to admit that I've met GG a few times now!. I prefer LIMS these days.

Thanks for all the contributions everyone (finally got around to reading my own thread!) So many amazing and touching stories. I feel a bit sad to say that I have never had a 'greatest moment in music'. It's the one single area of my life where I feel like a total loser Oh well, life's been good to me otherwise so I shouldn't complain.

I bought it for guitar a few year ago. Don't really get the rig kontrol out. To be honest I'm not really mad about it, guitar distortions are all horribly hissy with gain, and if you use the onboard tweaks it kills the tone and feel. After a few years of practicing with GR3 through headphones, I finally went out and bought a useable guitar amp and wow ...... I'd forgotten how much a guitar could sing! I just can't go back to practicing with GR now. It has a use - I still need it for recording, but I'm not entirely sure that it's worth the money personally. Never been mad on the bass sounds either!

Jokes aside, that guy is seriously talented! I play all those instruments, but none of them to the standard that he does!

wow, what a cheesy song title. -
Not all virtuosos are all widdly widdly or slappy slappy. I have a John Patitucci album and it is just a great set of musical pieces, I'm not even thinking 'bass' when I play it because he is playing for the song and not using them as backing tracks for 'impressive' flights of fancy.

I still consider myself as a newb bassist as I don't play live or with anyone, but I honestly never even considered that there was a need for distortion with a bass!?!?
