Personally I wouldn't buy a bass like that without playing it first. Not the neatest de-fretting job I've ever seen.

I actually think that a slapped arse can look pretty good on the right girl ....

Which strings for a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard?
Golchen replied to samkeen's topic in Accessories and Misc
.... Or you can do what I did with a rosewood fretless jazz neck and send it to HG Thor in the states and have him epoxy coat the neck. This way that lovely, irreplaceable, Brazilian rosewood neck will be preserved for ever. Cheers Davo
Did the Epoxy not change the feel/sound/look? Note: surely there must be somewhere in the UK that could do that? -
Yeah, get a pair of pliers and pull the sucker out. That'll teach the little bastard. Pro fret dress would sort it.
OP... Heartfield were Jap produced between '89 + '94 by Fuji Gen Gakki - there were basically licensed Jap Fender copies, and distributed with the Fender network. Heart/Heartwood, were high quality hand built British between mid and late '80's they renamed Heartwood in 1988 for the last couple of years of production. They were distinctive by heart shaped inlays on fretboard and headstock. (all from the Blue book)
Thanks all! There was no Fender association, so I think that it must have been Heart/Heartwood. I can't seem to find pix of any on the net though?? It's really irritating (and also a bad idea marketting-wise) to use a generic word for your company name as it makes it impossible to find.

Many years ago (at least 2 decades) I went to a big music show at the Barbican in London. It was before I'd ever thought about basses, but I remember a company there that had some lovely looking basses. They were quite expensive I believe, and I'm sure that they had the work 'Heart' in their name somewhere. For some reason they have just sprung to mind again, and I was wondering if anyone knows what the company might me? Or who they were if they are no longer around? They weren't particularly trad looking, but neither were they weird shapes, and the finish was quite solid vibrant colours stained into fancy wood grain, with a gloss finish. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I just remember at the time thinking that I'd love one if I could afford it!

Greetings. You are a guitar? Does your owner know you are playing on the PC?

Absolutely loved it! You are da bizz!!!!! I would so love to play like that, especially the funkybits. I'd really like to see a video of you playing that.

"Hi Horse, why the long face?" Sorry bout that .............. I really enjoyed the clip, lovely singing. Well done for being on TV! Also solves the 'Michelle McManus - where is she now?' question.

What work do you carry out on your bass at home
Golchen replied to d-basser's topic in General Discussion
1) What kind of maintenance do you carry out on your instruments at home/gigs? Don't gig. At home pretty much everything on instruments - setup, total dismantling, rewiring, fret-dress and also refretting, put lines on a fretless neck, stripping finishes etc. 2) What position is it easiest to have the instrument in for these actions? (vertical, horizontal, at an angle?) I go for flat on a small table, on top of a thick blanket and with the headstock overhanging - or the trusty old Ironing board. 3) Are there any tasks you currently carry out where you find it hard to securely orientate the instrument in an ideal working position? Sometimes neck related work is a pain when the neck can't be removed from the body. OK, so what are you trying to sell us???? -
I vote for Fender Reggie Hamilton Custom shop.
Not only is there some horrible gunk on some of the frets, but there are mucky fingerprints all over it and a number of marks/dinks. It didn’t even come in the original box.
I wouldn't be worried about the box, the gunk or fingerprints - but marks and dinks and it would go straight back.

I'd say judge someone for what they are, and not what they are not or what someone else is.

NS5 wins for me. Lovely basses! What's the Guitar? ESP?

Out of curiosity I clicked on the link you provided, but as it was just a generic schecter site with no specific link to the model in question I was gone in seconds. Putting aside the fact that it's a bass forum, I can't imagine how anyone could sell an instrument without a picture up! I'd say at least post ONE, or failing that, link to one somewhere on the net.

I was watching the Leeds international piano competition the other night. Some guy was playing an awesome piece on the piano with full orchestral backing all around him, infront of a big audience and in a superb old building with balconies and stuff. I just thought 'what a great setting to be playing in', the orchestral backing must have been so loud and resonant! So yeah, I was just wondering what YOUR most fulfilling moment in music has been? I'd imagine that it would be a live performance of some kind - so that counts me out!

FT/FS : 1994 Pedulla Pentabuzz for KS or SONUS ZON (SOLD)

Hmmmn, I'm 50/50 on this. I totally agree with the 'learn it before rehearsal' thing, but solos are much harder to play than the rest of the song (generally) and they take more work getting right. Also, if you're the guitarist playing the solo it's YOU in the spotlight at that moment and you'll look a right nerd if you fluff it up live. I agree with the chill out over a pint and discuss it route, explain your irritation and let him have his say as well.

I'm no bass expert, consider myself a rank amateur really as I've never played live. I do like decent instruments though and I couldn't resist a custom shop Reggie Hamilton V that I nabbed off of eBay this year for around £1100. It is my favourite bass that I have ever laid my hands on and I really do feel that it is 100% the bass that I want to spend the rest of my life with, to have and to hold, in slickness and wealth, forever and ever ....etc etc. So yeah, I'm a fan of CS.
