  1. Passive for me; I like the simplicity and the growl. I also can't be bothered to be constantly fiddling with a pre-amp; I tend to use my tone and volume control(s) sparingly.
  2. Excellent! What a great start in his music career.
  3. I'm listening to it now; quite a good record and some very good sounds on it.
  4. Didn't Sandberg to al Olli Riedel signature that was made for BEAD?
  5. Sean bought a pair of Toltec hot Jazz pickups from me; no messing around, straightforward and honest - just what you need.
  6. Major finger breakthrough today; suddenly a load of feeling seems to have come back (it's very itchy!). I'm playing my bass and can feel the pressure in the tip again for the first time when fretting. I think the itching is just the unused nerves firing up again. I can feel the winds of my strings with it, which I couldn't before.
  7. I've been in four projects with a close friend whom I've known since I was 13, but we've drawn a line under making music together because we just can't make it work in the long term. Early on it always feels great - the songs write themselves, the gigs are great, and then.... Something happens, and it goes downhill. It's a shame, as he's a great singer and the loveliest man, but our last effort was enough to convince me that it was never going to work. Andy, I hope your re-kindled bromance works well, my friend!
  8. I mean you'd be a big strong lad lugging that lot about - round here we'd say "I wouldn't spill his pint" meaning "I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him". Only fun intended, sir.
  9. Blimey, Dave - remind me never to spill your pint!
  10. I could be persuaded. I don't have many practical skills in this area but I can labour.
  11. @vmaxblues I bought Stuart's Trace Elliot Elf head from him and it arrived in immaculate condition in the original packaging with all of the bits and pieces it needed. A very nice man to do business with - I highly recommend him.
  12. The Squier 40th Anniversary basses are superb, although they're knocking on the door, price-wise, of a used MIM (which seem to be dropping these days).
  13. It's bonkers to think that it was released in 1994; if anything I'm more rebellious, rabble-rousing and badly behaved at 45 than I was at 15. I blame Therapy? for a goodly proportion of that!
  14. Saul Williams, Beastie Boys, Senser, Prophets of Rage, Akala.... It's a very wide genre, and I can't claim to be an expert.
  15. I'm looking forward to seeing her on the top step, my friend.
  16. I think you might have a future Paralympian on your hands there, @AndyTravis. What a cracking young lady.
  17. I'm going to see Therapy? on Staurday at Rock City; somehow it's 30 years since Troublegum was released...
  18. I knew there was a reason I like you!
  19. I had a jam with an erstwhile bandmate on Tuesday this week, and I took this bass with me; I have to say that it plays well and sounds excellent (cue all of that stuff about butter and grand pianos...!). There's a wide range of tones, but being a find-one-you-like-and-stick-with-it kind of player I'm not sure I'll ever find a use for all of them, but when I make a rare excursion into the clankier sounds this bass, presumably due to those Limelight pickups, retains a sweetness that's quite surprising. There is plenty of bottom end available and it's nice and defined whilst still being big and fat. Suffice to say that I'm really enjoying playing it, and rather than just being a project for a project's sake this one is a keeper. Cheers, JRK
  20. Only another hundred and fifty quid to go to hit the £5k mark...
  21. You're beginning to look like mine; what do you say?
  22. Feel free, old boy; Our rates are extremely competitive and we clean up afterwards.
