  1. Nice to have you with us, my friend.
  2. He's not, but I bet he's thinking "Lads, Don't Stand So Close To Me"...
  3. We play that version and I really enjoy it, even though it's not much of a workout it just sounds cool, somehow. Our band has not been onstage since November (we changed our drummer etc etc) but we have a gig at the end of next month, so I'm looking forward to that. We then have another six gigs in five weeks, which will either kill us or sharpen us up nicely! I hope all goes well for you next week.
  4. For me it's finding myself in a flow state. It doesn't happen often but when it does it's incredible.
  5. Die, Die My Darling (I'm suggesting that because my band plays it!).
  6. At the moment it's You Could Be Mine, by Guns 'N' Roses. It's bloody fantastic!
  7. A thought on the backbone; could it be thinner if it was on the top of the body, and therefore subject to less moment from the strings? This may make it able to be a bit thinner and lighter.
  8. She's looking great, Rob. I really like her.
  9. I'd have one of those, that's for sure.
  10. That's a heartbreaking circumstance. Sincere condolences, Gasman.
  11. I wallowed in despair, then fired the drummer.
  12. That looks like an early 70's case...
  13. That's superb; it takes me right back to my Slimelight days and the bands I never quite got off the ground. I must come and see you play.
  14. Yes, but I waited until the band were leaving the rehearsal space before I did so. Like I said, not my proudest moment!
  15. If only I had - that would have been the world's longest toilet break, wouldn't it?!
  16. I quit a band once; I climbed out of the toilet window and ran away. Not my proudest moment, but neither was rejoining the same band a year or so later only to quit again because, despite the assurances, nothing had changed.
  17. Think you may be missing a letter. I don't fear for music; folk have been fearing for it all my life (remember how "home taping is killing music"?) and it's still here. Yes, lots of it is shite, but that's what the skip button is for.
  18. We used to play there 20-odd years ago! A blast from the past for sure - glad you had fun.
  19. "Commensurate with age". Swallowed a dictionary, have we? Used gear is used gear.
  20. That's a superb analogy. I find that technical playing (of any sort, not just bass) usually turns me off, as I prefer the music to serve the song rather than just show the skill of the players. I'd rather hear one note that really makes you sit up and pay attention to a hundred that are all icing and no cake.
  21. They'd be brave lads to start on the chap with a four-foot lump of wood in his hands!
