I'm not sure I've ever been this angry before
Jackroadkill replied to Dankology's topic in General Discussion
OP, that's a rough deal. So many "promoters" don't have a clue what they're doing. If I was in your shoes I'd be spitting feathers. -
There's the Bassbuzz channel, and also our very own @greghagger with his Greg's Bass Shed. Both of these have been helpful to me.

Never saw what the fuss was. They didn't excite me then, and they certainly don't now.

Y'know, I love reading this thread. Even though I don't know any of you in real life, and haven't seen your bands play, I still get a real kick out of hearing about all the great gigs that have happened for everyone (and commiserate with the disasters). There are so many styles, genres, line-ups, methodologies, countries etc on show but the diversity of it always gives me a real lift. It's a joy to know that so many people are out there playing and bringing music in all its' forms to appreciative (mostly!) audiences. Cheers all. JRK

Today I've destroyed the tip of my left middle finger.
Jackroadkill replied to Jackroadkill's topic in General Discussion
Just to add insult to injury - literally! Thanks for the solidarity; my injury is fixing itself, it would appear, but very.... very.... slowly. I'm doing as little with it as possible, and instead of having to go every week to have it looked at I'm now on three-weekly appointments. The consultant seems happy, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I have played my bass as much as I've felt able to, but three fingers on the fretting hand takes some getting used to, especially when the inoperable one gets in the way of the three that are having to work harder to make up for it. Still, it's still attached, so I won't complain too much. Cheers, JRK -
Oh, that's very cool indeed. Well done for getting it all right on the first attempt, too.

Hmmm, until I saw this I'd have said "no, not my thing at all", and now I want one!

Whoever has faked that hasn't done their homework.

Botox and Fillers (would you) audition related
Jackroadkill replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
I cannae be harsed; there ain't enough filler in this world to make me look pretty, and who cares what the bass player looked like anyway?! -
Oh my goodness, this is going to be amazing!

That's a beautiful song.

That's very cool - the colour is amazing.

That's gorgeous. Can't beat a P.

Yet another band name suggestion thread

Special Offa? -
We're the Dave Jackson Five; Dave Jackson is our singer, so I guess he owns it.

The same here - I like my P and J basses and that seems to be enough. Every now and again I get a bit of a fancy for a T-bird, or I wish that you could get a passive US Stingray, but the ardour quickly fades and I think about the many reasons I have to stick with what I have already.

What are you listening to right now?

I can certainly make it to Ellesmere, so if you play GOAF I'll come and see you. Travelling to gigs is pretty much a given out this way; when I was a teenager our "local" gig venue was JB's in Dudley! My brother and our friends used to pile into my Mum's Citroen AX and hammer along the M54 to see whoever was on there.

I must make it to see Hurtsfall at some point. In fact, there's a few Goth bands whose bass players are BC natives - BC GothFest?!
-
Can you have a word with the bars round here? I'll pay you commission!

The same as the outrage that happened of my old air rifle forum when this rule was introduced; however, within not very long people had settled down and it became the norm. Also the amount of people who went crying to the mods when they were scammed dropped. Crack on, sez I. It's a system that works.

That's exactly what we've done, with the same result. Until now, when one of the members has delivered an ultimatum; he gave us a list of ten songs, said "we learn five of these or I'm leaving". He did this on the band's Whatsapp chat, which has since gone very quiet. I think some sort of seismic moment is upon us!

Perhaps you've been doing it wrong all these years; you've been changing the strings on your basses, and should have been changing the basses on the strings?

Ha! This was air rifles; for some reason that's a sport littered with scammers and chancers.
