Yeah that would probably be the best way. We just had a big folder of our Church songs in ChordPro format which I just added. And yes you can do all those things easily. You can also set up a transpose button, meaning when I change I just hit the plus or minus symbol to go up or down keys quickly.

Actually I am not sure if it does, I will have a check later to see if it's there. Might be a feature they could add. The team that make it are really good at listening to feedback and feature requests. EDIT - Sorry just asked on their discord, apparently SongSelect have stopped allowing any new people to use the service to link into their site. They are continuing to support existing users which I am sure would include Onsong. Can basically read them all. ChordPro, Onsong etc. You can also save your files in whatever format you like to. So I can make a set list and send it to others in the band for their onsong apps. Two features I especially like are the ability to search for songs online, so if someone requests a song, fumble to search and add And also being able to share your set list and music via a web link. Although with the second one they will need to be using JustChords for that to work. Where it does lack would be beaming set lists to others if they arent using JustChords. So sharing with people can be a little, "Oh email me that and I will add it." But other than that, for free, I think its amazing.

Ah yes followed by This is Amazing Grass 😅

So... I would highly recommend you try JustChords instead. It's free so you can have a good play around, made by a few people really fed up with Onsongs stupid subscription costs for basic functionality. I love it. Just build up your database of songs, write notes if needed. Can change key easily and share set lists with people easily. I'm very much a music reader, (or chord reader for church i suppose :D) couldnt do without it now.

Nope Maybe one or two that we tend to play with a synth style backing track, mainly Phil Wickham ones. But I was just curious of peoples experiences. Think I am just trying to justify to myself I should get something, but also for the wedding cover band I am in which it would be way more used. Not sure if my church is ready for it, I played a 5 string bass once and it seemed to blow their minds. Or maybe... that was just the first step. Seriously though, I agree with you all, I'm quite skeptical of it and when I did hear one live at a place I went to I found it super distracting. Like I was at a gig not church. Edit - didn't help they also had a smoke machine!!
-
Curious question for you all. Do any of you use a bass synth in church?
-
Yes I too have one. Very subtle though. And I debate with myself if a little bit makes the sound a bit fuller or not all the time. It would be the first pedal I get rid of 😅

I am so tired... thats clearly an electric guitar.... RIght back to sleep....

As someone who tries to hide away from the online cam, I find this a bit wierd More view of the pedals in this video:

My favourite wasnt mine but my brothers. Played a festival somewhere in europe and the drummer is really late for their soundcheck and no where to be seen. They head to the hotel where he was staying and they hear music or a tv inside but theres no answer, they are geniuely worried now so get the staff to open up the room. Heading inside they find the drummer in massive bubble bath with two women, painting nails, doing hair (they were very glam!) and drinking champagne. The rest of the band are like, what the hell are you doing we needed to sound check like an hour ago. Perfectly serious looks at them all and says, "Just having a bath..."

Were you rocking a slap bass solo at some point during the service?😁 aww that’s very nice. I seem to only get complements when I play the kids songs, only time I feel it’s ok to have a little bit of fun! edit - sorry to add, I have only ever got that one compliment 🤣 not every time.
-
Different person on PA? Caffeine isn’t a bad one though 😀 Always notice when I leave work the music in the car is much louder, in the mornings I just blast it out! How did you sleep? 😁

Curiously, what would everyone be looking for in a programme for this, other than lots of tea/coffee and biscuits?
-
Wow that is interesting! It's suprising how good some stuff can sound these days. For christmas I got the VOX amplug3 for bass, its surprising how good that sounds, I read a lot of people just take the 3.5mm phones output to record from. Don't let your sound guys know

Yeah I always wonder if its like a tax avoidance thing I have actually had a problem with my Linsoul ones though. It just couldnt cope in one ear with certain frequencies, I guess it might just be a broken driver or something. My wife has another pair and now I know what to listen for I can hear it struggling a bit, especially with a full band playing, but saying that its really no where near as bad as my broken one. I'm actually considering at the moment really forking out for some proper molded ones, pricey, but I think I can just just about justify them.

Odd Question - Hearing some notes out of tune
GoodShowSir replied to GoodShowSir's topic in General Discussion
Ok thank you so much everyone. I have tried my wifes IEM's which are the same make and it's not happening (though I kinda hear it struggling). I've also gone through studio headphones and every other headphones I can find in the house and it isn't happening. I just assumed it was me... wow... that makes me very happy Thank you! I'm still going to get someone else just to double check they can hear what I can through my IEM's but hoping its just that. Then I am going to invest in a better pair of IEM's! -
Odd Question - Hearing some notes out of tune

Nice, thanks to you both. I dont know why I hadn't really considered that. So happens no matter what really, from playing live direct from the PA, through my DI or even the little VOX plugin amp thing someone bought me. I'm going to play around with it later! And hopefully then just order some better IEM's -
Odd Question - Hearing some notes out of tune

That's... actually fair point, I hadn't considered it might be the IEM's! I got some Linsol KZ ZS10's which aren't too expensive, and recommending in another thread. But I will get my wife to try them later. -
So bit of an odd one, but before I start, I am going to see an ENT doctor about this so not really looking for medical advice just curious if anyone else has experienced this. I have suffered from tinitus for my whole life. I mainly only hear the ringing at night and to me thats always what night time sounds like, a high pitched ringing. Although if I think about it, like writing this message, I can hear it. Fairly recently I realised, when wearing IEM's I am hearing some notes sharp in my right ear. F3 is the most noteable for me, sounds sharp, especially if I do a scale up to it. Now take the IEM out of my right ear and everything sounds fine. Through an amp, and everything is all good. I've tried on the guitar and everything seems normal and different basses do seem to be a little better/worse which is odd. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this? It's kinda freaking me out a bit.

I seem to remember... and a quick search to confirm... you got it, its called an alternating time signature!

I like it, it beats a spread sheet emailed every two months thats for sure. Being able to swap with someone on the system is great, then the worship leader can just check who is on the rota the week before to and email songs out to everyone etc. We have our order of services on there too which is nice. Really easy to add unavailablity for the worship leader to organise the rota. I certainly don't have to do much to do with the admin side so not sure what the set up side is like. Maybe a little be clunky on mobile but other than that I think its a great organiser, has certainly improved the worship teams organisation.

And another for the KZ ZS10's, which I got after reading the IEM thread from a recommendation. My wife has some too and loves them, she plays the flute. I love IEMS now, we all now have Allen and Heath ME 500's and its great just to be able to mix your own monitor. Minininjarob - good luck with your practice and playing! Just remember, everyone starts somewhere and everyone makes mistakes and barely anyone notices. Even the "best" of us... on sunday... started to play a chorus intead of a verse
-
And you could take it even further! John 3.16 in 3/16 😅
-
Yeah we tried to do that a while back and it blew our young drummers mind Bless him. We all got there though with some practice. Then followed it up with a Getty in an odd time signature too. I love it.

I might do, have to admit its rather a large congregation and I am shocking with names! People still ask if we have just joined and been there about 5 years now... Oh now I like that idea for the amp head.
