  1. Assuming Sod All = F-ck All There are two solutions, when sod-all = 0 or sod-all = 4 assuming the above. We would need to define f-ck all more accurately here in terms of sod-all to get the right answer. Rob
  2. Grotty services everytime....
  3. @neepheid You are welcome to break the journey up at Chez Clapham whether I go to this bash or not, on either or both journey legs. Rob
  4. I will and the 3d printed six string. Work has become all consuming so I've done square root of sod-all on a number of printing projects that I want to see through. I might see if I can use October to get some momentum. Rob
  5. I might see if t'other half will let me out for the weekend for this. Rob
  6. Or buy two or more of the boxes and simply work in multiples of 6 basses ...
  7. Meths is very good. You can also use it to remove gunk left over from Velcro. Rob
  8. If you find an amp that shows you the right notes to play at the right time , will you let me know please? Rob
  9. Now that is a good price which immediately makes me suspicious. Yes I'm cynical git. I was in Andover last week as well which isn't that close to Bournemouth but a lot closer than North Yorkshire is. Can't see it staying around at that price to be honest and it's days trip down and then another day back.
  10. How much are they looking for? I'd be very suspicious of an old guitar/bass on Gumtree. Does it have phrases such as: 1. Know nothing about guitars 2. Found under the bed 3. Left to me by Uncle John who played in some famous band. 4. Cash only
  11. I read through the thread about sharpening chisels and I have to doff my cap to the lady. I love watching Masters (doesn't seem quite right to say Mistresses) in action. I sit at the feet of greatness. I shake my head and realise I will never achieve that level of Jedi like woodwork. Rob
  12. Mike brought my iPad off me. A dull boring sale which is the very best sort No issues at all. Rob
  13. I'm sure you can easily carry it on the train... Do you know Chris Laurens by any chance? His dad used to run an antique shop in Whitstable.
  14. Thanks for this. I've made myself a neck support using 40x20 extrusion and printed some neck specific parts to support the neck and hold it in place so its vertical and safe for a muppet (me) to use. I had the extrusion here from building and it only took 30 mins to design something to fit and support the neck. It might even work on some other necks. I'll play about with an adjustable headstock holder. but the important thing is I have a solid platform to make four x 3mm holes 18mm deep. Rob As its in black, it doesn't photograph well This is with the neck fastened down. Its very secure and is not going to move. It's also level.
  15. Mmmm.... More faith than I have to be honest. Aluminum is easy, also if I cock it up, I have more of it. The Fender neck is lovely and I really don't want to damage it.
  16. I'll experiment with some junk wood first and see how it goes. Rather nervous of wrecking a lovely neck
  17. @Geek99 I don't have any hardwood rod (or softwood rod) or dowels of any description. I also don't feel confident about drilling into a real (and nice) Fender neck to make the right sized holes even with a pillar drill. I've never done that sort of thing before. I'd need to support the neck properly to ensure an accurate vertical drill and if I cocked it up, I'd be gutted. Somethings worry me and this is one of them Rob
  18. I've ordered a section of hardwood rods in different diameters. I'll fine one slightly bigger, sand it a bit and plug the hole that way. In hindsight thinking about drilling the holes was a dumb idea for someone as cack handed as me with power tools. Thanks for all the help and useful suggestions. Rob
  19. I have a decent pillar drill but do not feel confident enough to do this. I think I've answered my own question here 😊
  20. Hi Would it be best to drill the hole out to say 4-5mm and then fill it or leave it as-is? thanks rob
  21. Hi I'm pulling together a bitsa jazz, a nice Jazz body with very decent pickups and a decent bridge courtesy of @sifi2112 with a rather nice, quite old MIM jazz neck. The neck is wide and thin and its great to play. The body is not a Fender body but was made for Si. I've just got around to putting the neck on the body and it's very tight fit but a club hammer and cold chisel sorted that out. (joke joke). The holes in the neck don't quite line up with the holes in the body. Its about 2-3mm out. I can see the edges of the holes in the neck through the holes in the body. If they were a long way apart I'd simply not worry, but as they are so close, I don't want to damage the neck and I really don;t want to drill more holes in the body. So what's the best solution, do I fill the holes in the neck with bamboo rods and decent wood glue which I have, then redrill the holes when the filling is dry or something else. All advice welcomed. Thanks Rob
