My brackets take 100Kg, tested to more than that with a rugby player standing on one leg to put all the weight on one foot on one bracket, so let me know if you need some proper ones printed

Here's my homemade pedalboard. I'm now swinging both ways and playing guitar and bass. I prefer the sound of the guitar through the Tonex and the bass through the Mod Dwarf. So use the EHX box to mix. The third channel of the EHX box goes to a Mac for recording purposes. The Tonex has some lovely Fender amps which sound great with a Fender Tele or Strat. It's all driven through a Cioks DC-7 mounted underneath. Its bigger than it needs to be, I could save 2-3cm on the width, but its not a big deal. Its very, very solid. You can certainly stand on it, and we got up to 150Kg with zero issues, so possibly too solid Everything is printed including the cable management which nicely slots into the aluminium extrusion.

Perhaps they only had a scratchplate sized bit of exotic wood?

Pure random chance The real point of this little experiment is the four little pogo connectors at the bottom with two small (but rather powerful) magnets on the sides. Just seeing if it's feasible to change pickups easily and quickly. Using a guitar pickup as slightly easier to play with. There's the other side of the pogo pickup fixed to a body of a guitar. The three black socket caps raise the pickup up and down. There's nothing too clever there. What this experiment has shown me is that these pickups are so sodding thin, it's really difficult to get them high enough, so this design needs adaptation to be able to handle thin pickups. Humbuckers are not an issue. The grey one in the middle is an a\ctual 3d scan of a humbucker. You can see the tape around the body. Rob

That's the bit I find strange. I can remember old cars from the 50s and 60s and without exception, my current Seat Leon estate is a better car in every single way. Faster, roomier, safer, more reliable etc etc. The way it reads on most vintage guitars is that they seem to have had some special pixie dust sprinkled over them that imbues them with a magical sound that you can't make now. I know that people like old things, my parents sold antiques, and I have a large collection of cigarette cards (> 1 million) I inherited from my father that we built up together, so I know about "wanting to own" something old, but not every guitar of that era was special. David Gilmour sold his old Strats and got a lot of money but then said his new ones were just as good. Saying it's unique because Eric (we're on first name terms) or Jack or Roger or whoever played it, I understand the desire to own it, but that doesn't make it an exceptional sounding guitar or bass. I love looking at these old guitars but I can't see how each and every one is magical sounding. Some may be great but I suspect some aren't. At the end of the day it's wood and wire and some cheap electrics with some protective covering. Mind you the Mona Lisa is just wood canvas and pigment 😄 Rant over Rob

I had imagined something slightly less than the control room of NASA 😊 it looks fantastic and I have no chance of replicating anything here apart from the tuner. However I am going to play with biamping just for the hell of it. Keep this thread going. It's great.

There's definitely a humerus vibe to Basschat (see what I did there), I was going to say it's possibly due to the British humour, but realised that we have people from all around the world who seem to think the same way. I suspect that if you don't take yourself too seriously for the stuff that doesn't need to be and be sensible on the stuff that does need to sensible on , you'll fit right in. I think your empty pedalboard is a great joke and only miserable gits would think otherwise. People do sometimes blow up with each other, but we seem to survive. Get involved and tell us all about the biamping. I'd love to know what you are doing and why it works for you. I was thinking of using my Ampeg combo and a Yahama HS7 speaker to do something similar just to see what it sounds like. I've got the kit so why not try it and see if it works. There's definitely an experimental culture here, from building your own guitars, building your own pedals, speaker and so on. Not sure anybody has made their own strings but I could be wrong. It's also nice that we have people who have an awful lot of knowledge on their specialised subjects, be it old Fenders, building stuff, mending stuff, IT or how to do something. Certainly the build diaries have some fabulous work listed, absolutely top class builders. Not been to New Hampshire for a very long time (30+ years) when I worked in DC and travelled a bit around the east coast. Lovely, actually gorgeous, in spring and autumn. Anyway, welcome to Basschat.
