Standard Euro Lx body and neck,
but with nord pickups, darkglass preamp, and ebony fingerboard,
spec wise really more like a LT than a LX
(but got stack knobs for low mid so you dont have to tweak it at the back like the LT)
I do like the not so consistent maple figure, kinda reminds me of those evening dress with those silky shoulder parts
Recently had been pairing it with a bassman-style pedal, shin’s music bassmaster preamp (essentially an amp-in-box) in the loop of my ag700, which kinda works really well as the spector is strong enough to push the pedal to have that breakup sound while dont suffer too much from the natural compression the pedal would have that I found to be too much when using other more vintage-output bass, you can say it “smooth out the sound” or “compressed the stinky poo out of the sound” (depends on your taste), essentially when I turn off bassmaster and back to the ag700, the sound literally gets bigger (or less coherent depends on your preference), I would say the ag700 is just bigger. The preamp channel compresses, and with drive on there’s even more.
But the spector really is so strong that it reaches that seeeter point of both worlds (which makes me wonder how would these high output modern preamp basses go with some vintage bassman or svts)
I do still like the bassmaster on sometimes as a comp in the loop with some colouring, I honestly dont like the sound, but it’s definitely usable or even quite handy in many situations
I know, I know, I just like it flexible, sorry for those who cant bear these
old photos of the Lt I held for like two days.
I do like the ebony+black headstock aesthetic
Never really a spector player (mostly got some traditional-body stuff; maybe with hotter pickups and such) before so had been surprised at how different the high end is on these things. Is it the darkglass thing? or regular lx is also like this?
