1. This is why I dont lend gear. He should be paying for it.
2. That neck finish is shoddy. I would want another to be honest. ..
3. ^ This. If Jens ever decides he can't be bothered to make more basses he has a ready made career in photographing those women whose cards appear in London phone boxes!
4. Bloody loads it seems. I have always used .105 - .045 rounds on all my basses since ever, and even with regular practice and gigging my fingers used to hate me after a gig or a 4 hour rehearsal. I always had it in my head that they gave a fatter sound and that for my rock style it was the best bet. When I got the new P bass I put on a set of Nickel plated Fender .100 to .40 (all I could get on a moments notice) and bloody hell, no more pain, feels nicer, sounds no different to the .105s either... I am a convert. If I had gone for my normal strings I would probably have found I didn't love the bass as much.
5. I agree, when rounds go they really go. I should probably change the strings on my P soonish.
6. I love mine to pieces.
7. Oooof that sounds good.

9. Once I get her home and have a play. As for price, £180
10. Shop soiled but great condition and for a silly price. Cant wait to get home and plug her in
11. Hey folks, My Silver series strat ebay bargain is lovely but the back of the neck has seen better days, the lacquer has cracked and dented (not to the wood) in several places. I am thinking of taking it back to wood and treating with oil, as I understand the best way to do it is with a blade? Any advice before I start?
12. I stuck 175 on a silver series strat a few days back which is a silly low bid. Won it.
13. Picked it up today. Its got plenty of war wounds and needs a bloody good clean but the neck is wonderful. The ceramic pickups are fantastic. Love it already, ill probably put a hotrails in the bridge, real gigging guitar, I think my brother will be using it for now with our band.
14. Asked about on squier talk and they all agreed it is real and a wierd one, barely any exist with the striaight Fender decal, and no-body had seen a lefty before. I got it for £175.... I think bargain of the decade.
15. I say Punk rock, it is certainly more on the modern side than the Pistols et al. OI OI style of punk! We are really lucky though in that we have two such good guitarists, although this project clearly has the DNA of punk rock it is already much more 'musical' than anything I have done before. One guitarist is a 1st class honors music theory grad who mostly spends his time on the dreaded 'Jazz'(!) and the other is a real old school blues player who is again incredibly competent at his craft. When they go off on one about sus7 diminished 9ths etc I just blank them out and talk to the drummer about tits.
16. Well tonight's rehearsal was a blast. The two tracks we had now sound done. And out of nowhere we got 2 more complete just need practice and lyrics. Plus we managed to two more bits of something to work on next week. Plus, and this is the big one! - Finally used slap in a song.. which scares me a little. We are already a punk rock band with two virtuoso guitarists and now slap bass... Fun times. Revisiting the punk rock sound of our youth with some actual musical ability from our advancing years is turning out to be very fruitful
17. I picked up my XB2 410 when they last blew out the stock. Stupid price for a US built 410.
18.
If you're going to fake something, why fake a silver series squier? He'd be better off sanding the silver series decal off and pretending it was a MIJ Fender.
Thats what I thought... It is all very strange! I am certain the neck is Japanese, and the body looks 'right' the black plastic, the sunburst shade etc. Might have a punt EDIT - I have read around and supposedly a few did come out with Fender decals and the silver series decal, there is some confusion as to why, some say they were made for the Japanese market so branded Fender but the practice stopped fairly quickly.
19. And MIJ's can have it at the heel. This dates from 1991 according to the fender s/n resource site. The Silver Series was 92-94 I think. I am wondering if this is a proper Jap Fender but someone has re-decalled it as a silver series?
20. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Squier-Left-Handed-Silver-Series-/151160523990?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2331de8cd6 But is it? It has definately had the decal replaced on the stock, but the serial number on neck checks out, however I thought the silver series has the S/N on the headstock? Anyone got any ideas?

ding :(

My USA P bears her first scar Just dinked her onto a mic stand at rehearsal. Ruined the night for me to be honest. So minor I doubt you would see it if I photographed it but its all I can see
22.
On balance, he should probably have put the 810 under it instead ...
If I was an FM down here I would have locked it with this as the last post. One of the best posts I have ever seen on BC
23. I have always ended up writing the majority if not all the lyrics for my bands, but then I also tend to take on the band leader role as I am fairly hot on promo and the boring business side of things. I really enjoy it, back when I was playing the ska punk band we got to the point people would sing along to some songs, that is pretty special to hear a room of people singing what you wrote.
24. Working on stuff for the new band (I am the lyricist as well as bass player) and reading back through a couple of them they could be deemed as VERY harsh to certain people no longer in my life. They have not been written about those situations at all, but I guess everything comes from the 'soul' so experience shines through. I tend to avoid words about politics, causes and above all people I know... Do I change it or do I just hope people listen to it for what it is, a tale that I have come up with.
