I always hark on about it on here but to me the clever investment if there is such a thing would be a Warwick, second hand prices are completely in the dumps right now. You see German instruments that list around 3k going for 500 or under on here and Fleabay. Regardless of their current popularity they are hand made, in Germany, craftsman instruments. I am sure eventually the market will reset and they will be desirable.

As I understand there are quite a few artists who do play the stock for sale Artist models, Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World) and Tom Delonge (Blink 182) spring to mind, Jim does play his Mexican built Tele with no additions (other than his tech setting it up how he likes it) and Tom has always played his exact artist models, he played his Mexi Fender sig when with Fender and now plays Gibsons from the production line. Biffy Clyro are another, although they do have some very nice vintage Fender gear they do actually play their Squier models (not Custom with a Squier Decal, the actual stock Squier instruments) for a few numbers when they gig. Saying that some don't I remember a few years back Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 did the whole 'smash my bass for the last song' every night of the tour, the whole set he was playing a selection of his USA made custom finish Fenders, for the last track his tech comes out and hands him a Squier P bass, that is what he smashed..!

That purple one has cropped up a couple of times over the years, I remember Florin confirming it as being an ex Artist loaner which I believe was held at the bass gallery in london as it was WW's UK artist centre at the time. Such an awesome looking bass, all the more special with the provenance, I wonder which big names have played it, everyone and their dog played Warwicks back in the 90's

Mine has a paint crack running from the neck pocket out. Not from a drop or ding it just happened at some point. I have read several reviews on basses around the same age (07-11ish) with the exact same problem.

Another vote for that harley benton. Its a very playable bass for a tiny amount of money. As with anything that cheap I would suggest a string change right away, the wires on it are fairly poor. I expected to have to give mine a full set up but other than the string change she was perfect out of the box. Also BRX I completely disagree. For jamming in the garden and writing with my band on acoustic it is perfectly audible. Team it with a decent amp and you can get a solid sound from a cheap bass for gigs if you want it. I sold the Benton and bought a tanglewood bowl back acoustic bass which if anything is quieter unplugged but still works.
very quite indeed, Throwoff has about 200 basses but won't sell any of em.
Haha I wish! Down to 4 currently. One on its way out in trade and one more coming in. 5 is a good number.

I would say almost certainly that they were never touched by Hirst anyway, mostly it is his employees that do the work nowdays. Frankly 10k is stupid money for a bass, it is probably not a bad price for an art collector though...

NOTE- THIS IS ON eBAY CURRENTLY. WOULD RATHER SELL TO A BC'ER THOUGH!! REDUCED FOR THE ONLY TIME! £725 COLLECTED, £760 SHIPPED. You are viewing a Left handed Musicman Stingray bass, I have owned this from new (the base was still in plastic wrap when I opened the case!) since November of 2008. The basics - Finish - White (quite an aged white finish, in photos it can look arctic white but is more of an aged classic) Neck - Maple fingerboard, natural headstock EQ - 3 Band Musicman EQ Strings - Almost brand new Fender NPS 45-105 I requested the white pearl plate when I ordered the bass as I think it looks a bit nicer than the standard white plastic plate that they come with stock. 2 issues with the bass, both photographed (happy to provide more images to an interested buyer) It has the almost standard 'Musicman neck laquer crack' which is only in the poly laquer coat and not a structural issue with the wood, secondly it came off its strap (before I fitted the Schallers!) and the jack socket surround plate has dented inwards, also cracking some of the paint down there, the socket is still perfectly fine and the bass works exactly as it should, a local Musicman dealer has quoted me a mere £5 for a new plate direct so should you feel the need to bring it back to mint the option is there. I will include the fitted Schaller strap locks and the Musicman Hardcase (which is nigh on mint) Only selling as I operate a one in, one out policy with guitars and something new is coming in! Listed at what I feel to be a more than fair price taking into account the condition of the bass, and the fact that you will have a 6 month wait on a new one unless you are lucky enough to find a lefty in stock somewhere in a colour you want! New from GAK these are £1599, even the Far Eastern built RAY34 model is over £900! Collection in person MUCH prefered! I am in Gillingham, Kent but work in East Grinstead Mon-Fri, as such I can meet anywhere in between or along the M25 corridor. I will ship but shipping will be a firm £20 to a BC'er! I want this gone sharpish as have two basses incoming and the wife will go mental, as such cheap!

Moving it on as I want a P bass, before I list it I am sure someone on here dibsed interest should it come up? Anyone?

If it is a standard 13 hole the plates generally fit, I say generally as I have heard some people having problems but they are normally fine for USA, Mexican and Japanese instruments.

I can't help with when the push/pull was added but it is worth bearing in mind the pull pot will only switch off the preamp, the pickups themselves are also active in a Stage II and as such tend to be of higher output than passive J pups (especially anything voiced specifically to be vintage) It will come close to a Jazz but more akin to a modern Jazz deluxe or an 'Uber-Jazz' like a sadowsky or Lakland than a trad Fender Jazz bass.

Hey folks, . Well I never thought I would type these words but I have just bought a lefty BC Rich Platinum Warlock Bass... Not my cup of tea in any way shape or form but bought for spares or repairs (problems being a loose pot and snapped 3 way switch... thats all) with an almost new Warwick Hardcase for £60.. Once she arrives I will be busting out the soldering iron, polish and strings, getting her lovely again and moving her on for a tidy profit. Pix to come, and if anyone shows interest in a lefty pointy bass on here I will gladly pay for and list it in for sale so a BCer can take her.
