Madness. These things are over 3k new (3.5?) and a minter cant make 1600 quid? Just shows what I think most of us already knew, that Warwick are not the desirable thing right now, There is a Vette standard fully active on gumtree right now for 350! in mint condition. 350 quid for a fully active German built bass and it is minter than mint.

I just used a Boss BR80 for the first time at practice last night and have been sat at work all day listening to us! Very cool bit of kit

Ms Throwoff (Mrs as of March 24th ) is a star. She not only puts up with my basses all over the house but also my brothers guitars! She even pays a passing but nice interest in what im going on about when I chat about basses. I was torn whether to use my 600 quid on an ipad or a bass, and her words were 'a bass will last forever, the ipad will be old soon'. What a sweetie
Some idiots pay for some pleb to 'roadwear' their bass. At least this is sort of a 'something-you-can't-do-yourself' finish, unlike roadworn, which anyone with a chisel can do.
Almost every 'homeworn' bass I see looks naff. I would still rather have someone whose job it is to make the bass look that way and is paid well to do it do the work. The lacquering guy at Warwick (yes its one man) is a complete perfectionist. I have never seen a man take so much pride in his work as he does. You can bet these finishes whether to your taste or not are impeccable.
Each to their own I s'pose. I'm sure there are people out there who think they're awesome!
Truer words never spoken, when I went to work for WW I hated the chrome finishes, its amazing what seeing one everyday will do to a man!

I have bitten the bullet today and purchased a Fretless lefty Warwick Rockbass (old style 1 piece bride) active Corvette Basic. Not sure why, I never had a real interest in fretless but have justified it as I should have one, and my new band with its mixture of effects and white noise might sound kinda cool with a fretless on the recordings. Any tips for a first time fretless player?

Hey guys, To clarify, there is no such thing as a Korean RockBass. Rockbass models have always been Chinese. In 2009 they introduced the Pro-Series Corvette Standard (Made in Korea) and stopped making it in Germany. In 2010/11 They brought in the new RockBass series, now built in a different Chinese Facility to the old ones but now have the 2 piece bridge, different finishes etc. I have played every Pro-Series and new RockBass and personally i dig the RockBass models and for a good price they are great buys. The Korean range now includes a Thumb, Streamer and StarBass (As well as the Artist stuff) I only played the StarBass and Corvette but these are both great as well. There is no Korean $$.

When I was a rep my firm distributed Kustom bass amps in some EU markets. When they redid the range we got one of everything from bass and guitar ranges delivered to our office and spent 2 weeks trying everything for 3, 4 hours a day, 5W practice combos to full stacks! The bass amps were very nice. The deep end hybrids were for my ears the weakest sounding. Not enough guts. The GrooveBass stuff is awesome for my money and the KXB does the job at a good price. Epic times -

If there is a Mag going second hand when the money comes it seems to be the right choice.

Hey Guys, As some of you may of read in off topic a few weeks back I am due to get a nice retention payment from work on 31/10. Now what started as a holiday being booked and a New Sandberg + Markbass rig has become the far less interesting (but far more sensible!) paying off all me and the other halves debts and stuff and leaving me with the princely sum of 400 quid. Now I know I can probably get a bargin second hand half stack for that kind of money when it comes through but if nothing is going at the time that peaks my interest can someone recomend some cheap and cheerfull halfstacks that will give me enough volume for pub and small venue gigs? Behringer have bad rep generally but the prices are mad! Same for Harley Benton. Maybe theres someone I missed?!
