1.
+1 Wayne Should point out that one of my mates has just emailed me to say the main reason we shouldn't pay to attend our own gig is that we're crap!
Another +1 for hearing the story from me! If you wouldn't pay to see yourself then you shouldn't pay to play!
2. I never bought into the whole Gordon Smith thing really, they are nice guitars but some people rave about them like they are able to slay custom shop Gibsons and Fenders. They really can't! They're a nice cheap simple guitar but if you have 500 quid to burn there are nicer cheaper options!
3. haha, I heard about this from MI pro and gave Wayne the drop on it but was trying to keep it hush hush! oh well Still bargins to be had I spoke to them by email as well and shipping is possible or collection from Manchester I believe
4. The foam at the bass of the Rockstand is quite grippy, you should find providing you don't chuck the bass into it that you have no problems with the bodies slipping or hitting each other.
5.
My Dad gave me mine for my 13th Birthday. Any idea what they're worth now ?
They can go for silly money, they are more desirable in Germany than the rest of Europe to be honest. There is a site that specialises in them (and a few other old marques) in Germany but they have English ad's I will try to dig out the link
6. I would like to only have 1 bass at times! I have 4 and there are 3 more on the tick list - Something fretless My Shuker (coming soon!) Warwick Streamer Jazzman oh and a nice Jazz.. and maybe a Ricky... A Steinberg might be cool one day I still want an 86' P Probably a Jaguar Bass and a 60's P Could use a backup 57 RI CIJ Of course I will need an upright as well Oh God...........
7. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Musicman-Stingray-4-...=item1e5b9228bc reserve not met, will be interested to see what it goes for.
8. If you are just adding a cab to a combo it will not really get louder, well scratch that you might percieve it to be louder. You will physically move more air and get more of a feeling from it but it will not increase your headroom. As soon as the mix gets busy your bass will dissapear. Re-invest in something bigger.
9.
that sounds great! i've always loved the mark hoppus bass, and this sounds great! make sure to update with any pictures or anything you get. i'm looking forward to seeing this built.
Cheers dude, Im hoping to send the deposit next month, I actually live out of the UK so if anyone else is heading over to see Jon later this year I might ask you to snap some shots for me.
10. Welcome to my boat Its nice all this custom malarky! Great specs btw sounds like a doozy
11. I think my feelings on 'museum quality' have been made clear by other threads! Play it, break it, burn it. Thats its soul.
12. The neck joint is appaling, but for maybe 100 quid on a lucky punt coult end up quite tasty! WAYNE!! get in here!
13.
Just been looking at this... Levy's MSS2-TAN 2.5" Padded Leather Strap ...and wondering if it's worth it!
Me brother has one of them and its lush! He does use it with a thinline tele however which strikes me as somewhat pointless!
14.
Sounds like a very practical spec which will look great on stage. Look forward to seeing the first pictures
Practical being the key word! I'm a cack handed git at the best of times and having nothing more than a volume to worry about will no doubt assist me greatly! I'm glad I joined BC more than ever today if I hadn't I would never of learnt of Jon and his fantastic approach, I gotta say thus far his comms have been more than exemplary, making sure EVERY detail was 100% locked down. Plus come on! Its bright f***in pink!
15. I think this one has been for sale on here.. EDIT! - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79943&hl=L2000 There it sold
16.
Cool spec mate Eude
cheers dude!
17. Thats stunning it really is. Love the neck joint! Glued in necks are underrated!
18. OK guys! I finally got the final quote etc and organised when I am sending the 40% to get my dream bass built. Even though I'm still waiting to pay there is already no backing out for me as I am literally wetting my pants with excitement! SO here it is the 'Hark Moppus' Signature! Bascially its a Mark Hoppus Fender sig but left handed! Plus I am having the hot pink colour like his models not the shell pink from the production ones and blue LED's just for the madness of it!. Alder J body Polyester basecoat Hot pink colour coat http://www.e-paint.co.uk/RAL_Colourchart.asp - RAL 4010 Gloss finish White pearloid s/plate, inc control plate area Seymour Duncan quarterpounder P pickup volume control String thru fender style bridge P style neck 34"scale 20 frets jumbo fretwire maple neck rosewood f/board 9.5" radius two way truss rod p bass dimensions (1.625 nut) modern profile Blue LED front face markers MOP side dots schaller BML keys (fender style) Bone Nut satin lacquer finish I'm fairly certain this will be pretty much to no-ones taste! But its been my dream bass since I first started playing! Updates to come!
19. You don't happen to know the RAL code for that paint do you?
20. Ok using powers of deduction this is what I have- He is playing in a tropical country The cable is a translucent plastic coated one (not too old!) I believe the machine to his left is an ATM machine like a Link style one, so must be max of 5 year old pic The drums and bass are older style goods but the Ziljdian cymbal looks fairly modern This could all be useless information as I'm not sure if OP shot the pic
21. 5 basses (Still have 4) 4 combos, 3 cabs, 3 heads
22.
You could get a full Orange stack for that. You could get them new with a Bass Terror (500W Hybrid head) or you might even be able to afford the Ad200b if you got everything second hand. I have no experience with the Orange cabs, but I hear they're good. I love my bass terror. Hope this helps
Wierdly enough I ALWAYS wanted and Orange but I seem to have forgotten they exist up until this very moment! I'm so tempted by so many things!
23. Great, drool on my keyboard
24. The serial number is likely painted over, quite common with older painted WW's Definatly not Helloween, their bassist is one of only 2 members still in the band from the start and you are correct he is a righty!
25. Exciting times!
